In the article, “Success will come and go, but integrity is forever,” written by Amy Rees Anderson, is a commentary on her views about becoming successful and how integrity can interweaved with that. If you simply put the work in, becoming a successful person seems to be inevitable. Yet, on the road to success it very important to be a moral person and get there the right way. Some people may have the mojo to beg, cheat or steal to get to the top, as opposed to others who genuinely work hard physically and mentally. With endless methods, people utilize different tools such as integrity, lies or character to become successful.
Integrity is not something a lot of people share commonly. Some people use anything in their power just to get what they want. Amy defines integrity as, “doing the right thing at all times and in all circumstances, whether or not anyone is watching.” I am certain mostly every human being has not met up to this standard. Amy Anderson emphasizes people exaggerating in interviews, Ceo’s overstating their projected earnings, and employees call in sick just to have more time off and so on. In all of these indifferent situations, “the person committing the act of dishonesty told themselves they had a perfectly valid reason why the end results justified their lack of integrity.” (Anderson) In any situation, wrong is wrong and right is right, yet people are only using their own personal definition or rightfulness that pertains to their own personal situation, that is occurring at that time. With cutting the corners and receiving instant gratification people are not taking into consideration the long term effects these lies can do to affect them. The person eventually feels entitled to be able to do these acts and be rewarded
