I picked up Otherbound for my first DiFR review because it recently won the Bisexual Book Award for speculative fiction from The Bi Writers Association. As a bisexual person myself I have been frustrated with the lack of representation we receive. As such I felt that the winner of such an award would be the best place to start for this blog. Otherbound even beat out Climbing The Date Palm by Shira Glassman, a book I've had my eye on for a while due to how widely praised it is in the circles that know about it. I first came across Otherbound a few weeks ago while browsing around Goodreads for books with diverse protagonists. The book description didn't interest me, well most fantasy that involves people from earth doesn't, so I passed it …show more content…
However, having a princess around doesn't stop Jorn from throwing his weight around in order to keep control of the group through emotional abuse and fear tactics. Nolan himself has been keeping journals of what he sees through Amara's eyes, trying to figure out why he has this connection with her and how to break free of it. The book turned out to be far more fascinating than I initially gave it credit for and even has a very unique magic system that comes with dire consequences whenever it is abused. As a writer myself, I loved seeing the plethora of new ideas, or at least new to me, presented in this book and I really look forward to reading Duyvis's other books. Confession time. If it weren't for the fact that I had decided to review this book I would have most likely given up on it about halfway through. Now that's not a criticism of the book in this case. It's a self admonition over just how jaded I've become when it comes to stories in general, whether it be books, movies, or any other medium. You see, I don't handle character death very well, having been hurt too many times by the poor handling of it in past. So I have a tendency to assume the worst whenever the reaper comes knocking on my book cover. *SPOILER
I really enjoyed the book because I love reading very interesting and right at the
I loved this book so much. There is so much action and is so much better and exciting with so much amazing detail and description. This is one of my favorite books ever. When you read it, you don’t want to put it down and it makes you feel like you are with the characters in the book and you know them so well. I recommend this book to anyone who can read at this level.
I did not expect the story to end with Lia Lee in a persistent vegetative state. I was very excited when I first started the book, but I soon became rather
I did actually really like this book. I was not sure if I was going to enjoy it when the project was first assigned, but after reading for a while, I became really interested
I think that this work is a very well put together book. Even though In the earlier questions I make it sound like a ten on ten this book is not. I rate this book a 9/10 for the soul reason that it was on a very directed path and you could the events that were going to happen before they did by just reading the book. Even the twist that the author put in were not that book which made some of the book predictable and who really wants a book in which they know everything that is going to happen.
Commentary: Death is an omniscient narrator. He switches between many of the characters in the book. He describes many of the characters feelings, emotions, and thoughts throughout the story.
Death is evident all through the book. It’s obvious this book is about death. But it’s the different ways that each character deals with death that the author is trying to get across. He’s saying that we all deal with death and our own grief differently. Some in bad ways and some in
This novel taught me alot. I loved all of the concepts but practice and purpose had the most effect on me. I will continue to use them in life and never forget
I believe that this was a pretty decent book, at times it was boring and
I have reviewed multiple books of Catherine Ryan Hyde's and have become an admirer of her work. Even though she has thirty-two books written, her topics are always new and fresh. Allie and Bea is the perfect read for this summer. I was hooked right off the bat and became invested in the story. It flew by undoubtedly too fast prompting surprise as I turned the last page. Furthermore, her writing does not bog the reader down being overly descriptive and wordy. Hence, she takes the reader on a learning experience through the eyes of creative characters who you will laugh with, cry with and grow along with.
Lastly the author brings up many problems in the book that are solved in some insightful ways that leave a strong impact on the reader.
So this book was good. I liked it. It was very dark, deep, and depressing but it was very interesting as well. The last sentence in the book makes me mad, I don't like the ending because it ends as a cliffhanger. Like the way it ended made me think that there was gonna be another book about it. I don’t really think that the book should be changed at all or make any edits to it because it's pretty good. It pulled me into the book at the beginning of the
I really liked the book. It was very enjoyable to read. I would recommend it to my friends, because I think they
Think about it, you are flowing along in your life with all things just peachy and bam, you hit a wall and everything looks backwards and upside down, and in the wrong place. Oh no! I am close to death! How can I stop this? You have heard people say "stop the world I want to get off." I wonder if that is really what one would really think. So we have been made aware of the presence of death, and it is closer than we want it to be. So we do the review thing. What have I done in my life? Has it been enough? If it has not been enough, how can I change that? Where do we look for that solace? As in the play, we would, I think, go to what we know best. We would first look at how much we have accumulated, what goods we have in our stock rooms. Also, have I been a good neighbor, friend, father, and husband?
I would like to conclude by saying that this novel The Lord of the Rings has inspired many spin off works, including several games as well. The enormous popularity of Tolkien’s epic saga has greatly expanded the demand for fantay novels, largely thanks to the Lord of the Rings. It is an an extraordinary work, grandly conceived, brilliantly executed and wildly entertaining novel of Tolkien .In the whole novel we see that it 's a hobbit 's dream, a wizard 's delight. And, of course, it 's only the beginning. The language used in this novel is very simple and easy to understand by people. In short this novel has won the hearts of many .This novel is a must read. I see this novel as a near perfect: It 's one of the best fantasy novel ever written. The story just revolves around the Ring which is created by a Dark lord, Sauron. It has brought the supernaturalism in such a way that we could clearly make out where is the supernaturalism used.
