5. List and discuss the details of Roy Baumeister’s four main needs for meaning. Each individual that is brought into this world has some sort of meaning in their lives, it's up to each individual to find their identity and place in this world. Roy Baumeister is one of the greatest social psychologists to explain the self-worth of each human. Throughout his career Baumeister has created different variables on the definition of meaning. First, Baumeister explains that "purpose" is the first topic of understanding meaning in one's life. The thought of one's person purpose is their objective goals and/or the reason for which something exists or created. Basically, grasping an understanding for your purpose in life can come at any age, and is hard to figure out at a young age. Everyone's purpose in life is different, it's all about how you create your own path to achieve your goals. Values is the second of the four main needs of meaning Baumeister preaches. The importance of values is each individual's judgment of what's important in life. Values hold a lot of worth to an individual. For example, one's values could be the belief of God in their life, being in a happy, functional family, and that honesty and the truth is very important. Some people don’t need a million dollars to be content and happy in life, sticking and believing their values can go a long way in someone's happiness.
