On Friday night I went to Carpe Café and saw TJ Magee perform. She sang and played the piano throughout the entire performance. The performer started her own career. She created her album. She now plays at local clubs and cafes. She said her goal is to get big one day, but at the moment she is just happy to be doing what she loves. Going into the night I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it would be a little awkward to go to a café and listen to a solo performance. I thought that since the café was a little dive in Smyrna that she wouldn’t have been as good. I was definitely wrong. She was a really great singer. The people at the café were all dressed casual and it was a wholesome family friendly type performance. There weren’t many people there, but definitely enough to make an impression. The vibe was very chill. No one got up and danced, but it could have happened. The audience did sing along several times throughout the performance. She was very upbeat and had a ton of charisma. I loved every minute listening to TJ Magee. She was so talented. She played pop songs and mixed in a little country. It was very good. The songs were upbeat and then there were those typical slow songs. She did a very good job on her harmony and melody. I thought that her lyrics in the first song were very well written. She put so much emotion into that performance. I really felt impacted by it. The song was about how we fall in love, and when they finally leave us it is the most painful
On Friday night, November 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. I attended the Manhattan School of Music for the Jazz Orchestra that performed by Jazz vocalists and MSM alumni Jane Monheit and many other musicians. That place is unlikely the ordinary place, people have appropriate dress on and have nicely etiquette toward the performers, unlike me, many of audiences seem like that they come to this concert with certain knowledge of Jazz orchestra. And its musical venue was the ideal spot for the concert, so I sat in a decent spot spot that located at midst of the concert hall where I can view all the performers and hear performers’ music clearly. And the conductor informally began the show was quite nicely and politely which made me feel really comfortable
This was followed by a performance by vocalist K. Omari Wilkerson. He has a very distinctive voice that is pleasant on the ear.
I went to a chamber music concert called Attravereso il Mare, on October 17 at 8 pm at Boston Court located in Pasadena. This project performs Italian-American songs which represent the Italian-American culture. My friend and I arrived 1 hour early, and people kept coming. Most of them are family and friends, and only few of them were coming alone, but they all had more concert experience than me because this was my first time attending any kind of concert. This concert was in a very small room with only 100 seats, but all seats were fulfilled. This concert experience impressed me a lot and changed my feeling about concert.
Karl Marx, a German philosopher, once said, “Religion is the opium of the people.” During the medieval ages, religion drove the daily lives of the people. People used the Catholic religion as a way to justify their living conditions in order to ease their suffering. However, the upper class used religion to their advantage as it enabled them to deceit the lower class into giving them money. This created a disparity between the two classes. In The Book of Margery Kempe by Margery Kempe, the Catholic ideology blinded society from the corrupt socioeconomic system between the bourgeoisie clergy and the proletariat.
My opinion of the concert it was something new for me, especially I have not been attending any concert in the US. Usually I focused on the kind of music because, it gives me an idea about the song and how beautiful is.
On November 16th, I attended a Porter Robinson and Madeon concert at Echostage in Washington D.C. Porter Robinson and Madeon are both electro house, dubstep, synthpop, and EDM (Electronic Dance Music) music DJ’s, who have decided to collaborate and tour together. Doors opened for the concert at 9 PM, with DJ’s Robotaki (Ro-bo-ta-key) and Danger opening for them. Robotaki focused more on house music, while Danger was more heavy drum and bass electronic music. Although, the opening DJ’s varied in their style of music, they helped to set the mood and prepare the crowd for the main event.
The concert I went to was called Bronco fusion. It was held after the first week of school, the ASI team wanted to start off the school year with a a concert so people can enjoy some good music. It was going to be my second time going to a concert, I didn’t know what to expect because the concert I’ve too wasn’t as heavily crowded as this one. I usually don’t like big crowd events, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people. From the phalet it says that there were going to be four performance by 2 DJ from our school, RL grimes the DJ, and Tinashe. Although there were four performance I will be discussing only the about the DJ, because they had the biggest impact throughout the performance and how Tinashe didn’t really fall
This was one of my favorite performances of the night because brought a light and happy feel. This is the first time I have seen a piano performance being played live. It enchanted me in seeing the way she moved her fingers across the piano so swiftly. As she was playing, the dynamic changed as quickly as it slowed down. It starts off slow and soft, but as it progresses it gets louder and faster, showing off her skills. The performer repeats the music notes throughout the song several times as if she were changing the key every time it were played. That stood out to me the most because the pitch would constantly go down the scale as the piece
The name of the singer was Angela who was doing all of the talking for the band. The names of the five songs that were performed were: Trust, Damage, Crush, Ocean, and My city. The piano and guitar were the two instruments that caught my attention; the pianist melody and rhythm was flawless, it made me and the audiences want to move to the rhythm during the concert. The improvisation and syncopation, swing, bent notes and styles helped to keep a awesome rhythm during the whole performance. I enjoyed the piano player, Richard most because he seemed to be very talented in his ability to play the piano.
The most memorable performer of the evening, for me, was Mateo Davis and his original songs. He is an amazing singer and has quite the talent for songwriting. My favorite part of his songs were the melodies that he created. The whole process of songwriting, to me, is daunting. Being able to hear someone produce a song that means something to them is a joy. Mateo created these songs out of nothing and successfully combined different chords to match the words he was singing and the feeling they created. Although they were times where I had trouble discerning the words he was singing, the overall tone of each song was easy to pick out by listening to the musicality of it. The first song he sang was titled “Two” and he mentioned it was about his
Before this concert, I was not sure what to expect from a singer/song writer who was straight out of college, but Liz exceeded my expectations. Liz showed me something no other concert has yet to show me, that no matter what is going on in your life you can put time and effort into something you truly care about and you will learn something from it. This concert did make me want to attend more singer/songwriter concerts in the future at Millersville because it brings a different perspective into your life and allows you to reflect on things you have experienced or learned about. Liz had such as positive attitude about an industry you may struggle in if you are not “popular,” making it the most positive part of the performance. I did not really
This was an excellent performance. One of the things that made this an excellent performance is how Hiromi Uehara clearly shows her emotions and passion. You can see that she enjoys playing the piano and takes pride in playing it. Listening to this piece was very relaxing. Uehara and the band are synchronized and it creates this soothing piece of music.
My general reaction to the concert was that it was very relaxing and enjoyable. I was impressed with the musicians and the way they performed. The musicians were rhythmically together and seemed very prepared for the concert. The visual setup was attracting because the musicians had a variety of instruments displayed, some of which I never seen before. The atmosphere was relaxed yet intense upon the performers, which made me more attentive. The performers seemed to have put a lot of energy into the concert. I
We looked for the seats marked Section 5, Row 21, Seat 1 and 2. Minutes after finding row 5 and sitting in the first two spots, a few girls approached us saying that we were in their seats. After comparing our tickets to theirs, we found out that Cody and I were in Section 4 and that we needed to go to the other side of the bench, moving us incredibly closer to the stage. This excited and embarrassed us so much that we sat in laughter for about 10 minutes. Cassadee Pope was the opening show, and she was absolutely incredible. I have to say she was a great performer, but after a few of her songs Hunter Hayes came running onto the stage singing ¨Storm Warning,¨ and I had no doubts that he was far better than any other performer I had ever seen. Hunter Hayes continued to amaze me for about 2 more hours by singing, dancing, and giving an amazing speech. When he gave his speech, he talked about something slightly close to home. He spoke about the shootings in Orlando, where my brother was living at the time. This hit me pretty hard because losing my brother from 1,600 miles away would really be painful. In all honesty the night of singing my heart out had seemed to end in the blink of an eye. When we eventually made it into the backseat of our car, Cody and I couldn't help but laugh and smile at the thought of what we had just
Dallas, unlike Seattle, isn 't exactly known for its coffee. However, each of these choices seem to stand out from among a bevy of lesser candidates. These Dallas-area coffeehouses were all chosen on the basis of style and atmosphere and all-around good service; not to mention their great coffee offerings. All three of these coffeehouses offer a delightful selection of beverages. Two of them are more conventional coffeehouse choices, while the third offers Asian bubble tea lattes and coffee drinks. These are my absolute favorite coffeehouses. The next time you 're in Dallas, I highly recommend giving them all a try. First, we have Uncle Calvin ' s Coffeehouse. Uncle Calvin 's has been providing great coffee and good music for more than 20 years. The weekend live shows are always chock full of terrific artists, good eats, great atmosphere and wonderful people. Prices range from low to mid-level with all proceeds going to either the artist or to fund the mission. Uncle Calvin 's Coffeehouse is located within the fellowship hall of North Presbyterian Church at 9555 N. Central Expressway in Dallas. It 's open every Friday night; exceptions being Wildflower Festival, Woody Guthrie Festival and the Kerrville Folk Festival. Don 't be turned off becuase it 's in a church. Calvin 's regularly puts up name acts like Adrian Legg and the atmosphere is anything but stuffy. Next, we have New Amsterdam Coffeehaus, located at 831 Exposition Ave. in Dallas. This coffeehouse offers a truly
