The city council should vote on affordable housing, but not support Sun Cal, a real estate developer, to provide solely residential housing across the street from Disney land because the organization would not be able to further expand nor would the development complement the resort’s vision (Lawrence & Weber, 2014). Furthermore, the city council should consider working in favor of Disney considering the organization’s successful history with Anaheim. For instance, Disney contributed $545,000,000 of bond funds for neighborhood upgrades, but a majority went to infrastructure improvements, landscape, and transportation (Weinberg, 2007). Disney also occupies five percent of land in Anaheim, while providing fifty percent of the revenue from taxes, to the City; and even creating public services with the police and fire department; thus, creating incredible number of jobs (Weinberg, 2007); hence, Orange County and Anaheim need to recognize the affordable housing issue …show more content…

Disney already provides jobs for many employees and is the biggest employer in the county, but perhaps they could give back to society and the company’s stakeholders as it would foster customer loyalty, improve their reputation, and make their employees happy (Lawrence & Weber). For example, their workers could be alleviated from stress if Disney could provide transportation benefits for commuters; or provide fair compensation to their employees since the annual wage for custodians is $23,000, which is very low income by the state for housing benefits (Lawrence &Weber, 2014); however, Anaheim and Orange County have a responsibility to protect struggling residents within their community by providing stable and affordable housing, which could give residents security and benefits as a way to personal
