The purpose of a supervisor having supervision over interns is to monitor the tasks that interns do and help them enhance their knowledge and skills. My supervisor at Caribbean House Community Health Care Network has demonstrated that she is accomplishing these purposes. My supervisor has demonstrated that she is accomplishing these purposes through her behavior towards me, when she supervises me.
During my time at Caribbean House Health Care Network I have benefited from the supervision of my supervisor because she an effective supervisor. The textbook The Human Services Internship: Getting the most from your experience give examples of effective supervisors that fits the experience that I have with my supervisor. According to Myers Kiser, P (2012) “Effective supervisors are knowledgeable, supportive and skillful in giving feedback. They must be willing to address difficult issues as they arises, teach their supervises important information and skills, and model high standards of professionalism and expertise,” (page 110). When she gives me tasks to do she checks up on me to see if I am doing it correctly. One of the times I encountered benefiting from my supervisor’s supervision was when I first began to inform patients about wellness resources and services that are offered at Caribbean House Community Health Care Network clinic. Some of the wellness programs that are offered are yoga, meditation, sound meditation and fitness. Some of the services that are offered are
A good supervisor is firm and yet gentle with the employees. Providing continuous and constructive feedback to employees is a must for a person in any supervisory capacity. Supervisors who are helpful and appreciative of good work are much better in their capacity as
My supervision is always held in a confidential setting, between myself and my Manager. My Manager records details of what has been discussed, targets identified, and achievement target dates to be met by me and my Manager. This is my personal development plan, and helps me to record training received, training identified, and knowledge gained. My supervision is my opportunity to discuss issues I am concerned about. Sometimes prior to my supervision, I write down notes on issues I want to raise, so that I do not forget whilst in my supervision.
The key principle of supervision is for the worker to be able to carry out their job role as effectively as possible. Enhancing their understanding of their own practise.
In supportive supervision the primary issue is counsellor morale and job satisfaction, as well as dealing with stress. The stresses and pressures of the coaching role can affect work performance and take its toll psychologically and physically. In extreme and prolonged situations these may ultimately lead to burnout. The supervisor 's role is to help the counsellor manage that stress more
Supervisors’ provide effective formative and summative feedback, promote growth and self-assessment in the trainee, and they also have to be able to conduct their own self-assessment. These skills encourage the trainee in the process of supervising. Clinical supervision is defined as: “An intervention that is provided by a senior member of a profession to a junior member or members of that profession. This relationship is evaluative, extends over time and has simultaneous purposes of enhancing the professional functioning of the junior member(s), monitoring the quality of professional services offered to the clients she, he or they see(s) and serving as a gatekeeper for those who are to enter the particular profession” (Bernard & Goodyear,

CEO at 22. I was thrown in the deep end, quite literally. Physicians, PAs, and nurses who were once my mentors and supervisors, were now under my management. I felt blessed yet overwhelmed at my new appointment as the chief executive officer at HUDA Free Clinic. I was suddenly expected to have all of the answers, a seemingly tall order at a time when the clinic was forced to rediscover its niche in light of the Affordable Care Act. I realized that undertaking this task would be a part of my progression towards becoming a better and stronger person. It served as a crucible for this phase of my life, that would prepare me for the journey ahead.
Supervisions need to be on-going to be as effective as possible and gives the opportunity to reflect on the development of the staff member. "Private Practice" is a TV show following the lives of a number of different doctors working at Oceanside Health and Wellness. Within this practice there is a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Holistic Specialist, Pediatrician, and a number of other specialized doctors. In this essay I will be focusing on Violet, the Psychologist who puts her license and the whole practice at risk due to some unethical and unprofessional choices. This includes lack of confidentiality, unprofessional relationships with co-worker, personal issues that poorly effect her ability to treat, and writing a book telling the story of her life.
Supervision is important for continued growth as a professional school counselor (Hess, Magnuson, & Beeler, 2012). Throughout my internship my relationship with my supervisor has been educational and productive for my continued growth. A strength includes that my supervisor provides timely constructive feedback about my skills and about cases. This evaluation helps me to grow and deepen my skills in order to become more effective with students. Another strength is that she helps me to further my knowledge about specific programs or services that are offered in the community that our students can benefit from. With her sharing this knowledge, she truly is supporting me in becoming a better school counselor. One limitation with our relationship is that sometimes she does not have an answer to my questions, however, this is usually due to an administration question that has not been answered. For example, one question that I have asked is why we cannot have an army or air force representative come to do a presentation to our seniors similar to how colleges come to the campus and do presentations. We have several students that
For the purpose of this assignment, we interviewed Jodi Greenblatt, the Clinical Director at Community Partners (CP) and Hilary Jacques an LCSW Outpatient Therapist. I was thoroughly impressed and refreshed by the interview with Jodi. While interviewing Jodi, I felt that she had a wealth of knowledge and was very knowledgeable about the theoretical framework that Community Partners employs. Jodi explained to us that the agency does not specify any treatment modality, but the agency does have commonly used treatment modalities that include, but are not limited to, CBT, EMDR, TF-CBT, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Triple P Parenting Skills. She explained that the theoretical underpinnings of the commonly used treatment modalities are CBT and the trauma based focus of the treatment modalities. Said another way, what Jodi was describing was that the commonly used treatment modalities employed by the agency have a trauma-focused orientation and are grounded in theories of change.

Although some clinicians can do it all, the skills set and knowledge needed to supervise a healthcare facility administratively may be far different from that needed to provide effective clinical supervision. To determine these differences and their implications for practice, this paper provides a review of the relevant literature to identify the difference between administrative and clinical supervision and the respective purpose, rights of the supervisee, and the importance of supervisor competence. A summary of the research and important findings are presented in the conclusion.
During my eight years working at Trinitas Regional Medical Center, first as Materials Handler and three years later got promoted to Supervisor of Materials Management. I was lucky enough to start getting experience and learn the business in many different ways. Materials Handler is responsible for understanding and following the process. Personally, I was not comfortable just with the idea of following the process, I was looking for deep details about the whole project and what goes into a project, how to plan a project, developed and completed. During the period that I worked as a supervisor, I learn many different ways on how to perform different types of roles and provided me with responsibilities, which it gives me the advantage to
