Treatment
While the scientific community has known about the existence of coronaviruses for decades, there remain no licensed or approved therapies used in their specific treatment, nor vaccines to work as a preventive measure. As such, supportive treatment remains the most effective treatment measure for those patients affected. Supportive treatment involves the management of the symptoms of the disease, particularly with relation to pneumonia and respiratory tract infections associated with it. This includes various approaches such as respiratory and circulatory support, oxygenation, and preservation of the patient's renal, hepatic and neurological functions, working to prevent opportunistic infections, hydration, and the use of

“To date, there are no clinical trials involving humans for virus specific therapies for MERS-CoV infection. Data regarding ribavirin, interferon and convalescent plasma are limited. Other medications, such as mycophenolic acid, chloroquine, chlorpromazine, loperamide, and lopinavir, have shown an inhibitory effect on MERS-CoV replication in vitro; however, in the absence of clinical data, these drugs are not recommended for clinical use outside clinical trials,” (Alsolamy & Arabi, 2015).
Certain treatments may even lead to the worsening of patient conditions such as leading to ICU admissions, mortality or increased viral loads, which makes further research into the treatment of the disease quite critical (Modjarrad, 2016).
While supportive treatments remain the main form of therapy, further research is continuing into the use of antiviral therapy particularly in severely ill patients. This involves investment and funding directed towards drug development, as few drugs currently exist for MERS-CoV. However, as (Modjarrad, 2016) notes, the outbreak of the Ebola virus served to accelerate research and development in the area. This remains in its novel phases as companies seek to either repurpose existing drugs or create new ones for use. As part of the research, "small interfering RNA molecules and peptide inhibitors are being investigated for their ability to disrupt
Dr. N.A.S states that one of the antiretrovirals blocks translation of RNA into the proteins required to make new viruses. Some of the current antiretrovirals include reverse transcriptase, fusion and entry, protease, and integrase inhibitors;6,10 however there is not an inhibitor that blocks translation of rna into proteins on the market. Targeting inhibitors specific to HIV has made ARVs increasingly effective and less harmful to humans.
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a severe acute respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus named MERS-CoV. It is believed that the virus is found in camels and passed on to humans who are in contact or around infected animal. These camels are mainly located in Egypt, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia (WHO, 2015a). Those infected with MERS exhibit fever, cough, and shortness of breath, pneumonia, and diarrhea. Severe cases require patient to be put on mechanical ventilation or in an intensive care unit. It is also known to cause kidney failure and septic shock. The elderly, persons who are immunosuppressed, those who
The intake assessment is where the case manager get to know the client and what problems does it have you can also it can also help as a guide to start the treatment plan which is very important this help the client look at the possibilities that their goals are being taken care of. As a case manager you will have to give that little extra push or extra confident that they have lost in the past time. As a case worker you have to maintain that resiliently mood with the client and that is where the treatment plan comes in. In this dissertation will be discussing the treatment plan for the follow up client which is Belinda. Also what strategies can a
The reading entitled “The Treatment Plan” focuses on developing treatment plans, particularly for those in substance abuse rehabilitation programs. First, the interdisciplinary team, which consists of a variety of professionals such as doctors, nurses, and therapists, writes a summary of the client at intake to determine the problems, how they came about, and the potential solutions. Next, a problem list is created. The problem statement is one sentence explaining the problem, which is abstract and not tangible. Therefore, signs and symptoms are also listed underneath, such as history of DUI and the blood alcohol level. These are used as evidence to back-up the problem statement. After, for each problem statement, several goals are listed that
Introduction: Over time we come to realize a lot of things we have to live life with right under our nose and right at our door step. one of the worst and on going things we have to deal with are Viruses. there are a wide range of different types of viruses, from ones that can kill you ,to ones that we don't even know we have, some are contagious , and some are not, and also the dreaded air borne viruses. One virus that is not commonly mentioned is Valley Fever.
Second Main Point: There are currently drugs in late stages of testing that will do more to help cure the disease than current treatment
Although some research has been done on the effects of both Nondirective Supportive Therapy (NST) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), there is a lack of research specifically on the Latino community and bereavement services. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine how useful CBT is on treating the effects of grief in Latinos during the bereavement process within the first year after the loss of a loved one. The hypothesis to test is, that individuals that are treated with CBT is designed not to help the families with grief/trauma associated events to learn how cognitively learn new behavior modifications to know triggers of grief and trauma memories; also it allows processing of what happened, and how to verbalize their feelings, when compared to those treated with NST.
SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) is a respiratory illness caused by a coronavirus, originally reported in Asia in February 2003 and spread to over two dozen countries before being contained (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2005). Once infected, individuals with SARS initially develop a high fever and other flu-like symptoms including headache, body aches and “overall feeling of discomfort” before, in most cases, progressing to pneumonia (CDC, 2005).

They had came to the conclusion that there is no cure unless these are done following the encounter with the disease, Providing intravenous fluids and balancing electrolytes (body salts), Maintaining oxygen status and blood pressure and Treating other infections if they occur. They also made a list for prevention such as making sure to practice hygiene, self monitoring yourself for 21 days when coming from a country exposed to the virus and avoid areas and contact of treatment areas and people with the virus. In addition they made a list of ways to protect yourself from the disease mainly avoiding bodily
Therapy is the treatment of people who are suffering from the psychological problem and that situation, the therapist works in collaboration with the patient, to determine the cause. This paper seeks to explore the two types of therapy which person-centered therapy and gestalt therapy. The paper will also go into details by comparing and contrasting the two therapies and how they work.
The MERs-CoV pathogen is an enveloped RNA virus that is a genus of the Betacoronavirus which is a subtype of the coronavirinae family.6 The coronavirus gets its name from the spikes on its surface that gives it a crown or halo type
Although there is not a scientific or natural cure found yet, there are some methods that can increase a person’s chance of survival if contracted with the virus. First, supportive care could help physically and even more psychologically. Studies on blood samples have shown that there is an identification between genes and the prediction of survival. Also, there is a new association between survival and levels of a certain protein in platelets. This protein helps to repair damaged blood vessels. Certain levels of this protein could determine the chances of survival of an infected person. Scientists are also trying to develop a cure by utilizing the benefits of this protein. Currently, there are 2 possible vaccines that are being tested to see if they will prevent the virus.
MERS-CoV is a respiratory disease that was first found in Saudi Arabia in 2012. This virus can cause people to get diseases such as the common cold to a Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
