Survey Analysis
Introduction:
As someone who has a fairly unusual writing method, I set out to find other students’ methods of writing styles and compare them to mine and each other’s to see if my methods are unusual or if they are actually common among my peers. My survey consisted of five simple questions that asked about the writing process, the difficulties of writing, and how the process of revision. When I write, I dive right into the paper; I do not outline, and I do not write with a clear organizational structure, which comes back to haunt me sometimes. Additionally, I would like to note that all the respondents were males that happened to be my friends. However, I did ask them to answer seriously and to elaborate as best they can. Some additional information about my methods of surveying: The survey was printed out on paper and the respondents answered with a pen on the paper. I asked the respondents to elaborate on their answers and give me as much information as they were willing; however, since they were my friends, they did not take my request that seriously. Therefore some answers only respond directly to the question with little else. This is partially my fault for not creating questions that prompted more specific responses, and this is an important note to my findings and results.
Data Analysis: To begin the survey analysis, I will start with the results of the first question, which was: What is the first step you take to begin writing? The responses to this question were very straightforward and exactly what I expected. Four out of five respondents’ answers were related to brainstorming or making a structured outline with a thesis and supports;; however, one said they dive right into the introduction, just like I do. The second question asked if they spaced out their writing over the course of a day(s) or if they preferred to write an entire assignment in one sitting. The responses to this question was a mix of
Revisualizing Composition, by Jeff Grabill along with his fellow co-authors is a paper about a study carried across seven different universities across the United States Of America. Each university ranks differently in terms of various statistics such as enrollment, size and setting, therefore participants have different styles and approached towards writing. Following the standard survey method, a series of questions based on 30 different types of writing, were ranked in terms of popularity and value.
Teachers, parents, and friends often tell students exactly what the writing process should entail and how long it should take. However, the older I get, the more I realize that the writing process varies not only from person to person, but also from one writing project to the next. Throughout my years of life, I have written countless papers, ranging from a persuasive speech to an extensive research paper, and each project requires an altered version of my personal writing process. While each individual has his own writing process, there can be many similarities between different writing processes. Finding one’s individual writing process takes trial, error, and repetition. When an individual finally uncovers his unique writing process, better thought, work, and writing is produced.
What’s the first thing you do before getting started on writing a text? Is it turn on music, get yourself alone in a room, turn on the TV? Whatever it is, everyone has their own writing process. Elizabeth Wardle and Doug Downs state, “…it would seem that if you want to become a more versatile, capable, powerful writer, you need to be pretty aware of which activities, behaviors, habits, and approaches lead to your strongest writing-and which don’t”(170). The writing process has a major effect on the effectiveness of the paper it’s got to do with what it takes you to get the best on paper. My writing process consists of all paperwork, which is related to the writing and music that’ll help me focus.
During this semester in English 107, I have progressed more as a writer. Before I went to University of Arizona, my writing was rigid. I wrote five-paragraph TOEFL style essay all the time in my high school life. After I attended in English 107, I was not confident about my writing skill. Throughout these three projects we have done, I become more and more confident about my writing skill than before. The Student Learning Outcomes also helped me to grow as a writer a lot. In these goals, I did well on several of them, but I still need to work on the other goals.
One of my strong points in writing is coming up with ideas and knowing how to get started on a paper. I guess you can say I am a free writer. Whatever in my head ends up on paper and I could write about a lot of things that matters to me or upsets me and feel passion when writing it down, but there also a weakness that I can’t overcome because my inner critic come along with it. Which makes me completely change and overshadow my own writing. I have a problem with revising and not being able to see the flaws in my writing, but that’s not it. I overpower one topic with another one in other words I would mash up two topics that is the exact opposite of each other which contradict my whole paper. The other problem is shorting up a sentence as well
When I think about writing, I feel intellectually ravenous toward the subject I am given. When I am tasked with a writing assignment I figure out how I feel about the subject and what ideas I could incorporate into my writing that pertains to the subject. I find it easier to write after knowing how I feel and doing research on the topic to gain a better understanding of what I'm supposed to be writing about. After studying the subject, I organize my paper and construct the layout of the paper to see how I want my paper to flow, and what emotions are to be portrayed in my writing. This part is very important to do because I am a horrible writer without knowing beforehand how I want everything to sound and flow. After the planning process, I
Since I have always considered that starting writing is the most challenging step, I found the getting started methods just inspiring. So according to the contexts I must anticipate reader’s questions, create a traditional outline, use the brainstorm outline, or try a free writing.
When it comes to being efficient in writing. There is an actual process you’re suppose to take in succedding. The process is actually simple and easy if you know what youre doing but for me it takes time but if I abide by the rules I think I will do a great job. The first step is the brainstorming step; your gathering your thoughts trying to figure out what it is your going to say and how you are going to say it basically called Pre-writing.

In order to have a clearer understanding, the researchers prepared the following five (5) sets of questions that need to be answered by the person being studied:
A writing survey is a content composed by somebody to think about the basic purposes of current learning including substantive discoveries, and hypothetical and methodological commitments to a specific point. Expositive expression surveys are optional sources, and thusly, don't report any new or unique test work. Additionally, a writing survey could be translated as an audit of an unique achievement.
The following section asks a few details about you. Remember the questionnaire is completely anonymous and confidential. Your contribution to this research is much appreciated.
Part 2: In this section, questions are generally more open-ended and require a lot of thought. In your responses, particularly those requiring extended writing, please feel free to write more than is required.
Sometimes the respondents are not willing to fill the questionnaire and hence the resultant may not be correct.
