Ludwig Van Beethoven was a legendary composer that created many famous pieces such as Symphony 9., despite his disability of being deaf. Beethoven’s exploration of the boundaries of music created a darker sense of emotions to Romantic Period music and influenced composers like Stravinsky. Beethoven’s
Beethoven’s symphony No. 5 in C minor has four movements. The first movement is “Allegro con brio”. In the first movement, Beethoven uses sonata form and duple meter to express “fate knocking at the door.” When this part Played by the string’s instruments, it gives me a serious threatening and nervous feeling. In the second theme, Beethoven used Solo French horns to present quiet and peaceful fate, but this atmosphere did not last long. Low strings and descending line are bringing tough, dark and dangerous atmosphere. The second movement is Andante con moto. The rhythm is slow and the meter is triple. It utilizes theme and variations. Theme A is a recitative and played by violas and cellos. It presents a warm feeling. Variation B uses Trumpets,
While composing his great works, Beethoven was struggling to come to terms with a terrible news, one that he desperately tried to hide. He was going deaf. He loss his hearing in his early 30s and by 1819 he was completely deaf. At that point of time he was devastated by his loss of his hearing but he was passionate about music that it didn’t stop him from composing music. Even with his deaf ears he composed some of his great music at that time of the
For my first paper, I chose to write about Beethoven’s Symphony no. 6 conducted in Rome by Claudio Abbado in F Major. I chose this symphony based on the description of the symphony which is a program symphony that transfers the listener to an outdoor setting. I had not listened to Classical music since taking music class back in the sixth grade, but I am almost certain we covered Beethoven’s symphonies. Upon hearing the first fifteen seconds of the piece, I was transported back into both my middle school class and a setting where I felt like I was actually immersed in most of the feelings described in Beethoven’s words of his symphony. The symphony is a Sonata form which we learned is work written as absolute music written for a specific combination
Beethoven had reached complete deafness in the 1810’s. At this time he piano playing and conducting were deteriorating. At the age of 44 he was no longer able to play in public, but insisted on conducting still. Often times the performances were chaotic and he was hard to comprehend by musicians. He had a custody battle for his nephew Karl, in which he won. This caused disaster as Beethoven craved attention and companionship. After 1818, Beethoven conducted some of his greatest works even though he was completely deaf. Beethoven’s music was influenced by Haydn and Mozart although he had his own unique style. He was one of the greatest composers ever and had to overcome his complete deafness and suffering to put out these great works.
Ever since his father began teaching him as a child to play the violin and clavier, any keyboard instrument such as the harpsichord, Ludwig van Beethoven has been amongst the most renowned and influential composers of music. Despite the harsh punishments and mistreatment Beethoven suffered through while practicing with his father, he still managed to become a “prodigy” at a rather young age, having his first public recital at around seven years old. After his first recital role music played in his continued to grow, and soon after dropping out of school to pursue music “full time” he published his first composition.
Only a few composers in the history of time have ever successfully left their mark throughout our musical world we live in today. It’s been over two hundred years since the birth of Beethoven and his music still speaks to us today as he originally expressed and composed it. Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in the city of Bonn Germany on December 16th 1770 and has since been one of the most influential composers known to man. A common theme of early age learning and mastering seems to emerge in Beethoven’s life because while living in a musical family as a child, his father taught him how to play the piano, violin and in addition how to compose musical pieces since he was four years of age. A few short years later, he gave his first public piano performance at the age of seven. While Beethoven certainly gained a lot of knowledge from his peers, he also supported his family by giving music lessons and also by playing in the court orchestra. In the year 1792, Beethoven worked under an Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn and by the year 1800, his compositions established him as a strong Mozart successor.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was known for his famous music and compositions. As a kid his father forced him to play the piano, but it was worth it. By age eight, he was performing for kings and had tours. Unfortunately for this music legend, hearing started to become a problem and by age forty-five he was completely deaf. This didn’t stop him from composing music though. He was not a people person, as a result, he always wanted to be alone. For a lot of his life he had stomach problems which included diarrhea and vomiting.

I read that the 9th Symphony is universally considered to be among Beethoven’s greatest works he’s ever written. The symphony was the first example of a major composer using voices in a symphony. The words are sung during the final movement by four vocal soloists and a chorus. They were taken from the "Ode to Joy", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803. Today it still stands as one of the most performed symphonies throughout the world. It is made of 4 movements. The first movement is in classical sonata form, however, just the beginning of the 9th Symphony jumps immediately into suspense and sense of expectancy. In the first minute, the tempo hovers between a duple and triple meter. A and E notes are used as building
I choose “Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, "Choral": IV. Ode to Joy” composed Beethoven. I have no specific reason why I picked this song, besides the fact that I admired Beethoven when I was young. When I listened to the piece the first time I was surprised by its dynamics. In my head I have this preconceived idea that classical music was soft. I did a little research on the classical era and discovered; that music was an important part of society at the time and Beethoven was one of the top composers at the time. I was also informed that the all classical music was dynamic, the song could be quiet one minute then loud the next. In the beginning of “Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125, "Choral": IV. Ode to Joy” it seemed to drag, and then
Beethoven’s symphony No. 5 in c minor, Op. 67, I has four movements allegro con brio, andante con moto, scherzo allegro, and allegro. The first movement is a sonata that contains a motif and fortissimo phases using imitation and sequence with a constant flowing melody. The second movement contains two themes in alternation. The first theme starts later followed by the second which later dies of as a third theme is born followed by fortissimo The third movement contains a scherzo and trio and is in ternary form the theme is immediately stated and continually gets revived. The fourth and final movement starts immediately after the third and is a variation of a sonata. The piece has strong cadence and recapitulates only to finish in an extremely
Ludwig von Beethoven, considered messy, unconventional, and ugly by his society, is widely respected today by both musicians and nonmusicians. He was a man of magnitude, someone who is, “a definition of greatness,” (Fugard 19). Despite his obstacles, he produced beautiful music and gain a great deal of fame. Beethoven was able to create nine symphonies, five concertos for piano, thirty-two piano sonatas, and sixteen string quartets even though he dealt with his mother’s death and an alcoholic father, was faced with negative remarks from society, and lost his hearing. Beethoven, born in Bonn, Germany, was talented in composition and the keyboard.
One of the greatest composers to ever live was Ludwig Van Beethoven. He contributed so much to the art of music and has composed many excellent works that are still played today. There are many different pieces to choose when it comes to Beethoven’s collection. One of the most well known pieces by Beethoven is his Fifth Symphony in C minor. This piece contains four movements, but I decided to focus on the first movement which is in Sonata form. The first movement includes the beginning of the piece. Some also refer to this beginning as “allegro con brio,” which means fast with spirit. This absolute music piece contains a four note motive that is rhythmic, forceful, and tension filled. Beethoven’s referred to this piece as “fate knocking on
