Today, there are many diseases people have to deal with. Some of them are treatable and some of them are permanent. One of the visible autoimmune diseases is vitiligo. Vitiligo occurs when melanocytes die or stop producing the pigment that gives a skin, hair, and eyes color. When people have vitiligo the skin becomes whiter, and it usually occurs on skin on both sides of the body. The exact trigger is not known but it relates to immune system to attack, destroy the melanin-forming cells because of the family history, sunburn, stress, or exposure to chemicals. It can happen at any age but usually occurs before the age 20. In the article “For Vitiligo Patient, Arthritis Drug Restores Skin Color” from June 24, 2015 says that a medication for treating rheumatoid arthritis has given the color back to the skin in a patient with vitiligo. It is reported that steroid creams and light therapy are not as effective in reversing the pigmentation. Yale investigators decided to use FDA-approved medication (Janus kinase inhibitors). The patient was given tofacitinib, before this medication the patient’s white spots were increasing. After two month the results were seen, patient had repigmentation on the face, arms, and hands. After five months, this white spots were almost gone; the patient had only several white spots left on the body. There were no negative results seen using tofacitinib. The scientists believe that this could be a breakthrough in the treatment of vitiligo. Brett
"Rheumatoid joint inflammation is an interminable infection set apart by irritation of the joints, frequently influencing the hand joints and both sides of the body in the meantime" (Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, 2009).
Acne is everyone’s worst nightmare, and fortunately enough medical estheticians are trained to treat it. They also treat rosacea, psoriasis vulgaris, and even vitiligo. Rosacea is a disorder where the skin has an excess of redness and can be treated with laser treatments or surgery although it will not be fully cured. Psoriasis vulgaris is a disorder where itchy and irritated skin abrasions become present on the skin. Psoriasis vulgaris can be treated with long term treatments along with the change of the client’s diet. Vitiligo is a disorder where the skin loses color in patches. The appearance of the spots are random and can cause people to feel self conscious (Christine
Vitiligo is a chronic skin disorder that affects the pigmentation of the skin. Pigment is what gives the skin color and is produced by cells called melanocytes. In the disorder, the body attacks the melanocytes resulting in the loss of color in patchy areas. When the color is lost, the affected area becomes a white irregular shaped patch on the outer layer of the skin. Vitiligo can affect a very small portion of the body or affect up to fifty percent of the skin. The most common areas of the body affected by the disorder include the hands, feet, arms, face and sometimes the genitalia. This illness can be treated but it cannot be cured
Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the incurable diseases and turns chronic with progressive inflammatory of the synovial lining of peripheral joins. It is characterized by symmetric, chronic, and deforming polyatrhitis that causes long term joint disability when not controlled early. Considering there is no cure for this disease, management focuses on pain and inflammation reduction in order to prevent destruction of joints while at the same time preserving and improving on the functionality of the patient (Varatharajan et al, 2009).
Idiopathic disorders as Vitiligo may be confused with PA. Vitiligo is an acquired pigmentary disorder of the skin and mucous membranes that is characterized by circumscribed, depigmented
Humoral and cellular autoimmunity play a huge role in the appearance of vitiligo. Studies have found that are some major key things that play into this disease developing such as oxidative stress damage, autotoxicity, and neurohumoral
Vitiligo is a continual and long term skin problem that causes white depigmentation on your skin. The white patches appear due to melanocytes within the skin dying off. Melanocytes are cells that reproduce causing pigment, if you lack melanocytes then you will have white patches. Melanin, which gives your skin color also protect you from the sun’s UV rays. Vitiligo affects people differently; there is not an exact place where you can have it. You can have it all over your body, hair, mouth, and even eyes.
They have tried acitretin 0.5–1 mg/day for 6 months’ duration is the most effective treatment owing to antiproliferative and differentiation-inducing effects. They found out that liquid nitrogen suspends the amount of warts on the body. They also found out that if they can slow down the cancer if they surgically remove the warts that are growing. Patients have to avoid the sun as much as possible so that their skin cancer would not get worse. The UV rays from the sun are harmful to all people but it can be deadly to patients. A person with this disease should eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, as the vitamins will help restore the skin. Patients may have to use oral drugs as well as topical retinoid creams, such as imiquimod to limit the growth of abnormal skin cells. If a patient takes these necessary precautions it will help slow the spread of the
Melanin is an important part of the body that is produced by melanocytes. Melanin gives the hair, skin, and eyes color as well as protects the body from the ultra violet rays that radiate from the sun. The amount of melanin in the body determines the complexion of the skin. Vitiligo occurs when these important melanocytes die in patches around the body. This differs from the aging process, when melanocytes stop producing melanin which results in white or gray hair. Vitiligo is a non-contagious, non-life-threatening condition which causes a discoloration of the skin that appears over time, but does not go away. Most people say this condition is painless, but some report itching, and pain. This condition affects millions of people around the world, proportionately between men and women, and can be present in any given race, although it is more apparent in darker skin
Vitiligo has always sparked my interest because the causes behind this rare appearance are bewildering. Vitiligo causes an individual to loose pigment in his or her skin, but is not deadly. Loss of pigment is caused when melanocytes die. Oddly, vitiligo showcases no other symptoms and researchers are baffled by why the cells die. Although there may be a correlation between non-segmental vitiligo and auto immune diseases. Diagnoses of vitiligo vary and display in different parts of the body such as the hair, eyes, mouth and skin. Two types of vitiligo exist and each has a different severity. Segmental targets a specific part of the body such as a leg, arm or face and begins at an early age. Eventually segmental vitiligo stops spreading after
when you have troubles with you skin it is able to be very difficult. It's far very embarrassing because your face is the first thing that the general public see after they first meet you. You become self acutely aware of it and do not experience secure going out. It honestly can have an effect on your lifestyles negatively. A number of people have troubles and have become microdermabrasion on their face, and different body parts. This procedure could be very non invasive and works in approximately an hour. You could even go to paintings proper later on. The microdermabrasion earlier than and after bills are well represented on line. So many human beings are getting assist for their problem pores
treatment includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs like chloroquine. In this study several dilutions of Ibuprofenand Chloroquine were evaluated for their mutagenicity and cytotoxicity alone and in combination by using Ames Salmonella/microsome assay and MTT [(3-(4, 5 dimethylthiazole –2 yl)-2, 5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide)] assay using BHK-21 cell lines. Result indicates that Chloroquine and Ibuprofen showed non mutagenic behaviour at lower doses with both strains TA 100 and TA98 but Chloroquine at higher concentration (800ug/ml)showed mutagenic potential with bacterial strain TA100 and a slight mutagenic potential against TA98.Whereas Ibuprofen at higher concentration (10,000ug/ml)showed slight mutagenic potential against TA98. Furthermore, combination Chloroquine-Ibuprofen showed mutagenic potentialat higher concentration (3200-40000µg/ml) with TA98, and a slight mutagenic potential at 1600-20000 and 3200-40000µg/ml with TA100. However,in Cytotoxicity evaluation, chloroquine was cytotoxic at concentrations 200µg / ml, 400 µg / ml, 800µg / ml, 1600µg / ml and 3200µg / ml. On contrast, Ibuprofen at concentrations 10000 µg / ml, 20000 µg / ml and 40000 µg / ml showed cytotoxic effects on BHK-1 cells, In conclusion, the toxicity profiles of both the drugs were shown no mutagenic and cytotoxic potential at
Several months before my consultation with a CVS pharmacist, a small patch of skin near my eyebrow turned white and I was diagnosed with Vitiligo. Although the mechanism of action for vitiligo is unknown, after researching online rigorously for answers, I discovered that one of the possible causes is a chemical known as Rhodoenol, an active ingredient in a Japanese whitening creaming, Kanebo. Due to its phenol group, Rhodoenol can undergo competitive inhibition with tyrosine to form tyrosinase, which is a crucial step for the body to produce melanin. After doing research online, I suspect the trigger of my Vitiligo is the few Japanese whitening creams to help with the acne scars. My eagerness to find answers, determination to watch my diets, the will to exercise more to help my immune system,
Vitiligo is a multifactorial polygenic disorder with a complex pathogenesis. It is related to both genetic and non genetic factors. Although several theories have been proposed about the pathogenesis of vitiligo, the precise cause remains unknown. Generally agreed upon principles are an absence of functional melanocytes in vitiligo skin and a loss of histochemically recognized melanocytes, owing to their
Arthritis is a joint disorder, which affects one or several joints in the body. The condition has more than one hundred types of diseases with osteoarthritis being the most common. Osteoarthritis results from joint infection, or age. Patients that suffer from arthritis complain about pain in the joints. In most cases, the pain remains constant in the affected joint. It is worth noting, “The pain from arthritis is due to inflammation that occurs around the joint, damage to the joint from disease, daily wear and tear of joint, muscle strains caused by forceful movements against stiff painful joints and fatigue” (Reid, Shengelia & Parker, 2012, p. 40). However, joint pain could result from various diseases, and in such
