I would like to attend TARGET because I like the objective to enable girls to achieve mastery in engineering and technology. In addition, I would love to learn about engineering and technology and the careers that come with them. Attending TARGET would allow me to get back to learning about engineering and technology. I would also like to attend this program to participate in hands-on activities, labs, and projects. Being able to attend TARGET would be an interesting experience
The creativity factor in engineering and technology has the capability to change the world’s problems. Engineering and technology, both allow me to use my imagination. They are broad fields with endless possibilities. I have to come up with solutions that no one else has done to solve problems. With these creative solutions, I can change the world. Engineering and technology allow people to be problem solvers in areas they didn’t know they could fix. This idea fascinates me because it means knowing these two fields can change how I view simple objects. With new technology, people are learning to preserve the environment. Not only can engineering and technology keep the earth pollutant-free, but they can give clean water to people who need it and improve medicine. Filters that can be accessible to rural areas are created to quench people’s

Knowing about these will open more doors in my learning experience and encourage me to take interest in them. Additionally, in the TARGET program, I want to learn more about engineering and technology and more on how the two work hand in hand. Furthermore, I hope to gain more confidence in math and science. Most of all, by participating in the TARGET program, I hope to be able to be self-motivated to approach difficult tasks concerning engineering and technology. With self-motivation and confidence, I will be able to believe that I can do great things in the
Target Corporation is an evolving company. Target has great expectations for its future. For the year 2015, Target aims to expand its experience in order to effectively alter their customer’s expectations and shopping behavior. Target’s industry outlook starts with opening fifteen new stores for the year. The strategic store growth plans focus on localization and customer experience. Target will establish new store formats such as TargetExpress and CityTarget, while also offering new experiences, merchandising layouts and innovations in its general merchandising stores. (Target.com) The retailer’s TargetExpress is the smallest store format at approximately 20,000 square feet and aims to provide customers with effective quick trip shopping experience.
It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity”, these are the quotes of the famous German physicist Albert Einstein in relation to how the world has become overly reliant on technology. As a result, we have taken nature for granted while also ignoring the adverse effects of technology. The making of steam engine, the usage of fossil fuel and the creation of chlorofluorocarbon are all technologies which has benefited us greatly and are continuing to do so, but like everything on this earth there are always negatives to counter the positives This is the balance that we must find between nature and humans.
Target Corporation was founded in 1902 in Minneapolis as the Dayton Dry Goods Company, though the first Target store was opened in 1962 in nearby Roseville, Minnesota. Not until 1995, was the first Super Target was built. In 1999 Target launched their website Target.com. Target grew and eventually became the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, culminating in the company being renamed as Target Corporation in August 2000. The Corporation became a major retailing power house with $52.6 billion in revenues from 1,397 stores in 47 states by 2005. Realizing a 12.1% sales growth over the past five years target had announced plans to continue its growth by opening
State your career goals and describe how your participation in the AIM or ROADS program will contribute to the attainment of your career goals.
Not only might this program ignite an interest in me pursuing an engineering field in the Army or Navy but would also give me a foundation to build off if I do decide to pursue a profession there. Once I graduate from college I plan to pursue a job that would allow me to gain experience while also giving me the opportunity to continue exploring my career path. After I gather some more experience from my job, I hope to open my own business, specializing in my chosen engineering discipline. The experience and knowledge that I can gain from this program will be valuable in every step of attaining my career
I have been interested in science and math since I was a young girl. When high school began, I had the opportunity to take PLTW Intro Engineering Design. While I enjoyed the content of the course, I was disappointed in the lack of interest and engagement many of my classmates had. Applying math and science skills to solve, or at least have a deeper understanding of everyday or technical problems, intrigues me, because I enjoy hands-on problem solving. I plan to study engineering in college, however, I realize that I need more exposure to how science, technology, engineering and math function together in the professional workplace before I determine my major of study. I expect to gain exposure and hand-on experience through the TARGET program
These three interconnected goals alongside my optimistic attitude connect me to my future because they lay the path toward its realization. During college, I plan to major in physics and mathematics, but I expect to take a wide variety of courses to maintain my well-rounded nature. With this broad background and focus on personal goals, I feel confident that I will meet my career objective and dream of becoming a physicist. How do my goals provide the means to meet my objective? My avid pursuit of volunteerism encourages me to maintain a career path on which I may develop technologies that will help people. Once I obtain employment, I hope to be able to utilize my leadership skills on the job site as an expert in my field; however, in order to obtain that employment initially, I must complete college and graduate school, which will require that I excel in my classes. If I achieve my goals, I will certainly set myself up to successfully meet my ultimate objective.
Program planning is a process to achieve a particular goal and/or mission. Program planning is an organized process through which a set of coordinated activities or interventions is developed to address and facilitate change in some or all of the identified problems. Program evaluation provides useful information for improving the programs and the service delivery systems. Program evaluation is to improve the program planning, effectiveness, design, and efficiency. The two are different processes, but ideally they hold the same goals and/or mission. The evaluation process takes place after the planning of a
I wish to attend the TSSP program to better myself as not only a student, but as a job seeker in the future as well. I feel that the TSSP program can prepare me for the rigidity of college and campus life. As a junior in high school, I feel that now is an appropriate time to start looking into universities and programs that best suit my interests, so I started to look for summer programs for the upcoming summer. When I found TSSP, I also noticed that it was a program sponsored by Tulane University, which is a college of my interest in applying for. I have always wanted to go in the medical field even before junior high, but I never knew how I was going to apply myself into the medical field. When I saw the opportunities to better myself at Tulane, I started to search how I can become affiliated with the university, which is how I found this program.
Technology has been useful to people and to society. For example in the story it states, "Fire!" screamed a voice. The house lights flashed, water pumps shot water from the ceilings. But the solvent spread on the linoleum, licking, eating, under the kitchen door,
The game is changing. It is not just about math and science anymore. It is about creativity, imagination, and, above all, innovation. “Without creativity, there is no innovation. As every good gardener knows, you can’t rely on the same old flowers season after season. They die. New seeds are needed to rejuvenate the garden and stimulate growth” (Dundon, 2002). What is unfolding is the commoditization of knowledge.
The program that this student has designed and will test will not be in a “corporate” type building, it will be conducted within a classroom inside of a public school. This program will be centered on the idea in which both teachers and school administrators come together in helping to truly create a better future through their students, our future. In this classroom volunteers, teachers and therapists will meet to discuss the performance of children in that school. These volunteers would also help collect food and distribute this food to the children in need and their families. This classroom would be the base for educating both teachers and school administrators about healthy boundary crossings, such as when is it appropriate
In today's world, the real meaning of technology is not understood and known by all. Technological innovations do not worry people, unless of course, they are done to things we eat or use as medications or ones that affect our lives in any way. Often we do not think of things such as seedless fruits and antibiotics as technology. However, if we look deep into the meaning of technology, it is bought about my human beings and changes the environment so our goals can be met and in such a case even fruits become technology. (Cowan 301-326)
It is almost impossible, today, to look around you and not see the products of engineering, pretty much regardless of where one may be. In this way, advancements in engineering and its various branches have clearly allowed humanity to develop in immeasurable ways or this would not be the case (Frank C. Whitmore, 1979). However, those who do not have much knowledge of the background processes behind this infrastructure may not realise its impact as deeply or may not realise the impact of engineering at all - despite modern society’s fundamental dependence upon it (National Academy of Engineering, 2001).
Every object on Earth was either created naturally or by humans. Grass and trees were both here long before beings but the scenic park humans go to enjoy these amenities were created by individuals. The trails people walk on to the playgrounds kids play on have all been created by persons. This is such an abstract idea: that humans themselves are what keeps this modern world moving. A necessity for this world are engineers as their skills range from designing the parks and trails to producing suitable weedicides for the grass. The most important aspect of the modern world is the technology that is advancing it. The capabilities of engineers regarding technology that keeps humanity alive or destroy it are the abilities in which engineers can harness and manipulate energy. The energy sources include both renewable and non-renewable resources and are the vital backbones of this modern world.
