From lavish to savage is the underlying scheme in Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan of The Apes and his short story The Land That Time Forgot. These two works were widely read in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ time period, especially during World War I as he describes the racism during this time period. He particularly describes how the British were set aside and betrayed as the bad, but unknowingly the good. In these two works he tries to explain throughout his novels the level of racism between the Germans and the British. Racism is demonstrated in Tarzan of the Apes as civilized verses savage (being raised by wild animals). As this relates to his novels as they were similar in many ways, describing and characterizing through his creative form and style of writing. …show more content…
Tyler and Lord Greystone. Burroughs creates the two characters similar by both of them being British and coming from a lavish type lifestyle. Both of them were separated from most of their peers and held hostage for quite some time by the Germans or, as in Tarzan of the Apes “Terrorist,” in which in that particular story were supposed to represent the Germans. Both characters Greystone and Bowen were captured and placed under the control of the Germans, acting as if they were slaves. This characterization is demonstrated in the time period of both novels which were written in 1912 before the start of World War 1. Even though Burroughs’ was American, he still showed his hatred of German racism in these novels as if he felt offended by their terms and views against the Americans and British that were being pursued by the Germans at this time

The original 1933 King Kong was created as a movie: to convey a story and entertain and audience. Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake took the foundation for King Kong and expanded upon it in almost every way in order to “make again” the amazement of the original for a modern audience. Audiences received the original King Kong very well. The stop motion sequences of Kong were amazing for their time and the movie grossed $90,000 in its opening weekend. In order to bank upon its success again sequels were made and then in 1976 a remake was made to improve upon the original. Paramount updated the movie to color, changed the story, and cast Jeff Bridges, a well-known actor of the time, as the lead. Although the movie received mixed reviews, it did
William Golding's Lord of the Flies is a novel about a group of boys who are lost on a deserted island and must do what they can to survive. At the beginning of the novel, two of the boys, Ralph and Jack, become leaders. These differences will form the main conflict in the story. The differences will cause them to hate each other and the anger that results is a recurring part of the plot throughout the novel. These two boys can be compared by the way they change, the reason for their actions, and the way they use or abuse power.
"Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you could become.” Linking the movie and novel of William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies” there are many apparent differences. Despite the common plot, Hook failed to give the viewers the right idea of what Golding was trying to convey. Likewise, it is not only a change with the actual story line but also with some of the ways the characters acted. The 3 major differences that were seen are the shattering of the conch, the pilot’s presence, and Ralph’s attitude towards Piggy. Due to these major differences the novel left a greater impact on its readers than the movie on its viewers.

The second adaption came twenty-seven years later in 1990, which was directed by the American Harry Hook.
