Suicide can sometimes feel like the only way to pacify the pain. It is as if something is eating away parts of you slowly and intently and the only way to relieve the constant pain, is to die. Tiffany Hunter and Pierre L’errant are two very different characters with both equally unique yet queer personalities. Although Pierre and Tiffany are not the best of friends, their contrasting characteristics somehow complement each other. They both have similarities in their plans of suicide as well as differences that help them make the correct decision on where they want their life to go in future. Although they both made different decisions at the end, they assisted each other to settle on the right choice. Drew Hayden Taylor develops a theme of despondency and isolation from peers and loved ones in the novel “The Night Wanderer.”
The story begins, with the introduction of Jacob Kitino a wealthy Acholi boy, who is friends with Tony, a poor boy. They are going to school at the “George Jones Seminary for boys school” for the new school semester. They meets a boy, while they were walking at night. Jacob gives the boy money and bread, the the boy ran away, but Jacob never got his name. His name is Oteka, a very smart boy who was walking into Gulu to stay safe from the “LRA kidnappers”. This is considered the “Birth” of the “War Brothers” story because this is how the boys meet and a little bit about their backgrounds. The boys get to there school and they are excited to see each other again. Immediately after arriving they are asked to watch after small 12 year old boy named Norman. Later that night the LRA attaches their school, they break down the door and knocks them unconscious. When they wake up, Jacob and the boys are marching in the forest, tired and hungry. This the “Call to Adventure” because the boys are having a good day at school and next thing you know it all goes bad and they are now LRA soldiers.
This book that I read is called “The Night Divided” by Jennifer A. Nielsen. This story takes place in East Germany right after the government decided to put a wall up to separate the country in half. With the sudden rise of the Berlin Wall, twelve year old Gerta, the main character of the story, finds her family divided overnight. Gerta’s brothers were Fritz, who was the older brother in the group at 14 years old at the time and Dominic, who was the second oldest. Which means that Gerta was left as the younger sibling. Their father, Papi a.k.a Aldous, was involved with some rebellion against the government. Though he had never been arrested for anything, the Stasi, their secret police, keeps coming to their house every few months to ask him
Can someone give me a summary of this story or tell me what it is about?
Ishmael Beah is described as a pre-teen, with a love of rap and hip-hop music. He finishes as a drug-addicted killing machine, out avenging the death of his entire family. Before being rescued by a United Nations Program, and eventually fleeing to New York for rehabilitation, it is a tragic and harrowing tale that gives substance to the term ‘Boy Soldier’, that isn’t really understood in most cases. Ishmael gives a gentle portrayal of his life, before the war reached his small village and forever changed his life. Abruptly he becomes fugitive fleeing for his life and eventually into a corrupted teen.
The Holocaust was a traumatic event that most people can’t even wrap their minds around. Libraries are filled with books about the Holocaust because people are both fascinated and horrified to learn the details of what survivors went through. Maus by Art Spiegelman and Night by Elie Wiesel are two highly praised Holocaust books that illustrate the horrors of the Holocaust. Night is a traditional narrative that mainly focuses on Elie’s experiences throughout the holocaust while Maus is a comic book that focuses on the relationship between Art and his father and the generational trauma Art is going through as well as his father’s experiences during the Holocaust. Night and Maus are very different styles of

At this new camp there were some captured soldiers who offered bits and pieces of information about what was going on in the war. Jutka, Magda, and mother were forced to go on a march, but

He is thoughtful of every move made and is very quick to respond to threats to defend himself and his reputation at all costs. Tadamori’s status as a warrior and his pride is much more important to him than his role in the palace. This is shown when he thinks to himself “I am not a civil functionary” (McCullough 24), which is ironic since as a governor, he has a responsibility to the people of Bizen and Tajima, making him a functionary. However, Tadamori keeps his word to defend himself at the Gosechi Flushed Faces Banquet with a simple plan: during the banquet, he drew a large dagger from his waist, and got his retainer, Sahyoe-no-Iesada, to sit in a
