Tattoos are bad. This is something I have been told all my life. My father is a very authoritative figure. He stands at 6’3” and is a cut-to-the-shit type of guy. He makes sure that his views are heard even if it as trivial as talking through a movie to point out an error it made. He is not a fan of anything permanent on someone’s face or body; however, if his view is still unknown to someone, all he or she would have to do is bring up tattoo plans and his view will come out shortly after. One of his best dad-friends has the barbed-wire-around-muscular-arm tattoo and it is safe to say that anytime it shows he makes a brief comment about how much he hates it. Even the most incursive tattoos such as a Swastika are balanced out by bible verses. After all, it is someone’s body and ultimately it is his or her decision to get the tattoo. People can stare at a tattoo all they want, whether loathing and utter detestation or of desire and jealousy, but it will not make a difference; however, it may make someone uncomfortable. Yet, in many other countries, such as parts of India, tattoos are the desire of many and are sought after. They put a higher emphasis on the importance of tattoos that is more than just getting ink injected into the second layer of the skin. Beatifying the skin. India is known for their many tribes that use tattoos as a form of identifying who they are. They believe that by having tattoos on the skin that they are in turn making themselves more presentable and beautiful to those around them. Some tribe have also been known to tattoo the face as another way of self-recognition. It is even found that “body art was very prevalent among the warlike tribes of the northeast (including the Noctes and Wanchos of Arunachal) as they regarded tattoos as a sign of strength, courage, and virility because of the pain associated with the piercing process” (Pal). In America, people of power such as CEOs are rarely found to have tattoos because of the untold rule that tattoos in the workplace should not be allowed unless they are properly covered up or hidden.
