Before coming to Bentley University, I had heard from many people who recommended the school that group work was heavily integrated into courses. Now, as a current sophomore at Bentley University, I have found this to be true for many of my classes. Some classes place more emphasis on group work than others. In GB214 (Marketing/Operations Fundamentals) for instance, from day one, students are divided into teams and are assigned a semester-long group project involving research and analysis of a company’s marketing and operations strategy. (Even the final exam for this class is a group presentation!). In other classes, such as GB215,

As it turned out, we did not even really strongly adhere to these roles, as everyone took the time to make minor edits to papers, start discussions, and schedule rooms. Already by our first meeting, we all seemed to recognize that having this type of formal structure is not effective. Delegating one person to one specific role can be advantageous in the sense that we know someone is responsible for completing the task, but on the other hand it is limiting. For example, if we strictly abided by this structure, I would not be the one responsible for checking drafts and rewriting material; Frank would be. This brings up the question: what if I am considering a different idea or see an error that needs to be corrected, but it is not my “member role” to do so? Our ultimate strategy ended up being to have nearly every decision be a group-based

As part of the two person executive secretariat team at Embassy Baghdad, I helped support our primary Mission Iraq goals: protecting America’s security by countering violence and instability, and renewing America’s competitive economic advantage through bilateral relationships and economic reform. Our team not only directly supported the Ambassador’s and the Deputy Chief of Mission's (DCM) engagement with the highest-level Iraqi interlocutors, but also supported working level meetings and reporting from all sections at Post, including USAID and the Departments of Defense, Treasury, and Justice. In the six months since my arrival, our team has processed more than 1,000 papers. Our work, almost always completed on the day of receipt, includes editing for grammar and content, checking and securing clearances, and drafting supplementary
Team 56, also known as R.O.B.B.E. (Robotics of Bound Brook and Ethicon), is the Robotics team of Bound Brook High School that was founded in 1997. The team currently consists of seven sub-teams that are designated to work on different tasks to complete during the season. We aim to create a positive impact among members of our community and hope to collaborate with other figures of authority in order to have that effect.
Naturally I am a goal driven person, and for my junior year of high school, I aimed to make the varsity lacrosse team. Leading up to tryouts I trained extremely hard in the fall and winter to get my body fit. During Thanksgiving holiday I injured by lower back while training. I brushed off the shooting pain and kept on training harder, because “pain is just weakness leaving the body right?” I barely got through tryouts, but made the team. My coaches did not know I was injured until my back completely seized during practice and I could not move. I felt guilty because I failed to tell my coaches I was injured for months and did not seek help. For future references I know if there is something troubling me, to always seek for help right away because
In this assignment I will be looking at the team’s overall effectiveness within three different activities which is the tower activity, plane crash activity and the questionnaire activity. The different activities can allow us to analyse the overall effectiveness and see the changes depending on the activity itself.
Teams are essential to the development of an organization. It takes collaboration and effective communication for organizational goals to be met. The functionality of an organization should not land on the shoulders of one individual. There are many different aspects in health care that one individual cannot ensure. It is an impossible feat and will result in failure. Teams consisting of specialized individuals educated in a particular field can help the creation, development, improvement, and success of an organization. There are many different types of teams that work with one another to achieve the common goal. It is important to assign compatible individuals in specific teams to enable them to excel in their field of specialty while being
Teamwork and collaboration definitely go hand in hand in the field of nursing. I believe that successful collaboration requires relationships that are respectful and mutual when making joint decisions about patient centered care and other disciplines. This week, me and another student were partnered together to embark on our journey of community health at the Keene Senior Center. Our assigned task was to interview two or more people with a set of questions in order to get a better sense of what this community setting was all about. In order to do this, we had to have a good sense of teamwork in order to smoothly feed off each other during the interview. Before going in and introducing ourselves, we decided to collaborate and decide how to carry
Once the strategy has been set with the selected pod leaders and participants, the training schedules will need to be finalized and presented in a weekly team meeting. Establish the vision and how this change will benefit the team by promoting collaboration, teamwork and providing employees to with reward system (accrued PTO, free lunches, enhanced bonus attainment, etc.).
Hi Janet, I do agree with you that having interdisciplinary team care can prevent some of the potential risks or problems and save on cost incurred by both the patient and the institution. In a disciplined team, each member play their role to their best and are motivated to bring in new ideas or correct a colleague without fear (Mitchel et, al, 2012). This improves the team spirit, reduces chances of errors and members learn from each other. The end result is an improved patient outcome and team growth. Good post.
In my work center, we require exceptional teamwork to complete our day-to-day task. I will apply the team dynamics concept to my work center by fostering a strong and cohesive unit that works together to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. Also, I will decipher how each individual aids in the development of the group. Each member contributes different talents to the work center and I have to find those and apply them to team dynamics to accomplish the mission effectively. As a leader I will develop a solid relationship with my subordinates to make certain that the group evolves into a well-oiled machine built on trust, loyalty, and respect. According to lesson materials “team leaders pay close attention to interpersonal relationships because
For an organization to achieve its set strategic goals, there are several aspects of human resources that cannot be ignored. One of them is teamwork. Teamwork is imperative for organizations because it brings about efficient and fast accomplishment of tasks as compared to individual project handling (Sims & Sauser, 2013). Employees are able to share ideas while at the same time reducing their individual workload which keeps them energetic and motivated as a consequence. In teams, the pressure on every employee is significantly reduced which makes them more productive in the accomplishment of the roles that have been assigned to them (Sims & Sauser, 2013). This research paper highlights the methods that can be used by organizations to manage
Contrary to popular belief, volleyball is not an over-glorified version of ‘Don't let the balloon touch the floor’. Volleyball is about teamwork and personalities and skills. You can’t have a good volleyball team without teamwork, the correct personalities, and the correct skills. Volleyball players each have their own specific personality types that help them to excel in whatever position they may be in. Players also each have different mindsets and skills. With the correct combination, these three things can make for an incredible volleyball team.

Candidate Sutton did not brief the admin/logistics and command/signal sections of his order. However, the other parts of his order were briefed thoroughly and with a good command presence. A detailed orientation proved helpful in quickly orienting his team to the problem. SNC's confidence in briefing translated to the execution with the team making early progress in negotiating the obstacle. When friction points were reached, SNC was able to adjust his plan and maintain control of his team and push them toward the objective. SNC maintained good communication throughout execution by constantly providing direction to his team and by clearly conveying adjustments being made. SNC was mindful enough to pull in his rear security candidate once his
As a Leader, it’s imperative to have the skills to develop “excellent working relationships” among their teams (Graen, 2009 p.53). In building the Google HR three thirds team who will now be working closely together as one team. They will need time and training to become cohesive unified HR team. Leadership will need to help the team develop through training on trust, cohesiveness, and authority of the teams (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013).
