Courtenay, Nancarrow, and Dawson (2013) reviewed numerous articles that studied the effect of teamwork education (communication, cooperation, etc.) on the time and outcome of care. Courtenay et al. (2013) found that effective teamwork decreased the time necessary for critical treatments or surgery and also reduced the number of errors made. Courtenay et al. (2013) write that teams performed well when the responsibilities and role of each team member was known. Courtenay et al. In 2002, number of children living with their single parent was 16.5 million (Davidson). The most important thing is that each single-parent family is different from the other. Children who live with a widowed mother will definitely be living a different home life from children with divorced parents or the one whose parents were never married. Children of the parents who were divorced will always have some kind of relationship with parents and parents’ partners. But it is obvious that children from single-parent families face tougher times economically as well as

Nurses support patient decision-making and self-care management. Nurses hear concerns and goals of patients and enhance their engagement in care interventions. A single parent is one who brings up a child or children without a partner. This can include, a single mother and or father, a widow or widower, or a divorced mother or father who does not have the other parent in their lives. According to Ballangrud (2017), Teamwork is described in terms of behavior, cognitions and attitudes that make interdependent performance possible and is defined as the interaction or relationship of two or more health professionals who work interdependently to provide care for patients. The critical components essential to patient safety are effective teamwork and sufficient communication. When we see the absence of these two components within a unit or facility it often leads to an increase in adverse events for patients. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that between 3 and 16% of all patients treated in hospitals are affected by adverse events. The absence of a collaborative unit is an independent cause of multiple failures
. The only cost in this programming would be the time put into by the nurses. There has to be adequate staffing so the nurse is able to take the time to accomplish this daily task. There are only a few requirements perhaps having the nurse with the lower patient acuity do the nursing group. The cost would be minimal such as providing the patient with printed material for them to read as some of them learn better by reading.
In team nursing the responsibilities usually divided in between the personnel, so that everyone’s has its own role in patient’s care.
As a Registered Nurse on the short stay surgical ward I would allocate my current staff to the patients using a combination of team nursing and task allocation. The total number of patients on the ward is twenty-two, with twelve currently in the operating theatre and eight going to theatre on this shift. The staff currently available is two registered nurses (RN), including myself, an enrolled nurse (EN) and three AIN’s. Using the team nursing model, I would be deemed the team leader, which requires everybody is report to me during the shift with regular updates about their patients (Fairbrother, Chiarella, & Braithwaite, 2015). Team nursing aims to deliver holistic and professional care when undertaking nursing actions, its emphasises on teamwork and structure, and allows the multiple skill and experiences levels within the team to be well supported
Personally, I believe that feeling like you are part of a team plays a huge role in nursing. Knowing you have others around you that care about you as a nurse and also as a person is a great feeling. Nursing is a profession where difficulties are going to arise. Having a team that is there for you through thick and think definitely makes things run more smoothly. Although nursing teams may have a strong bond there are always going to be items that can be built upon. Improving communication skills is something that all teams should work on continuously. “Open communication such as deep listening encourages creative and critical discussions and constructive conflict resolution” (Watson, 2015, p.99). Throughout our careers as nurses we will always

Single parent families are families in which there is only one parent due to some circumstances and many reasons. The loss of a parent resulting from divorce, death or departure from the family, there children, as the loss of influence and control. Whether it 's fate or parental choice, but their life radically changes. Reaction to this change — the desire to balance the situation, to regain control, trying to restore it in such a way that, though sometimes a single parent and goes out to meet them, yet is compelled to resist. Sensing his parents ' divorce as a manifestation of selfishness, the child, in turn, also began to delve into their own interests. Population census in 2016 showed that “every 3.2 per 1,000 population of USA ends with a divorce” (National Center for Health Statistics, 2016). One of the problems of modern society is the lack of understanding between this generation and the past, or between parents and children. This situation is arising because of the different perceptions of life. Hence, for the single parents, it is doubly more difficult to find a common language with the child, when there is no support to parent. In fact, in non-traditional families are often observed heavy atmosphere, bad mood of family members, and the abandonment of children to talk with their parents. Kids hurt on the fate, so begin to blame all the troubles themselves or the parent who isn 't with them or the parent who nearby. In many cases, this situation results in
Many children in today’s society have grown to become successful and mentally stable whether they had two parents, or one parent raise them. With everything in life it is never about quantity, but quality. This could apply to single parenting as well. As long as a parent create a stable and nurturing home their child will grow up to be a mature, hard working, independent, and loving adult. Family structure should not be the main focus when it comes to raising children, the focus should be on the values and life lessons that are taught to the child as they mature in life. Family structure in the last decade have change drastically. Children are being raised by same sex parents, grandparents, extended family, a single father, or a single
Most single households are run by single mothers, who most likely earn low incomes proving it difficult for them to provide for both the educational and social needs of the child. The lack of financial support from the fathers forces the mothers to work even harder to provide for their children and they therefore lack the time to stay with their children or even help them with their homework
