Technology has impacted our world to the point of no return. The world is a social media cyclone meaning it’s a hurricane taking over, and it’s no denying in any way. Even if you tried to ignore what is happening in technology, it would nonetheless get introduced to you by a friend or a family member no matter what your circumstances are. You could hold a Priests position or practice some type of religion which don’t allow the use for today’s technology at all.

We all know technology is a good thing, right? Or is it? We can all come up with reasons why technology is helpful or appropriate like we can for a particular medicine. And while some drugs are really great to cure or prevent a disease, sometimes the side effects outweigh any possible benefit. The same is true with technology. Some common negative side effects of technology are kids playing on their phones instead of going outside to play or young people not interacting face-to-face as much as they used to. Parenting is an area that has suffered since the rise in technology, specifically with phone use.

We hear again and again that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robots are going to take away human jobs.

I’ve grown up in a strange time period. Born in 2000, I have grown up with modern technology in a unique way. Just as new developments were being made from home phone, to flip phone, to smart phone, I was reaching the ages where that new technology made sense for me to graduate to. I even still become jealous of kids now who are allowed to skip those steps. My education was shaped by changing technology. When I started school teachers were still using projectors and wet-erase markers on plastic sheets and our standardized tests were all paper based, then as smartboards and tablets became normal for class use and the standardized tests became digital I was right there. It made sense to go from washing projector slides to drawing and playing educational games on a smartboard because of the way I learned to interact with new technology. It made sense to go from paper to online based tests because I was taught how to use a computer slowly for years. I still played outside and hung out with friends which many people prefer to forget about my generation. As so, the impact modern technology has had on my generation is less of a direct interpersonal one as many older people think, rather modern technology has caused us to question our global relationships; who we are, what we are here for, how do we matter. In a large part who I have become today is a direct result of this, I am a member of a global community but I am a small and generally insignificant member. This isn’t a bad

We use technology every day, but have you ever stopped to think about just how much technology or internet is being used? Have you ever stopped to think about when we first picked up a tablet or first started watching television? Technology has positive aspects such as having the ability to communicate with people in a different country. However by being introduced to technology at a young age is very harmful to children. Too much access to technology causes many problems in young children as well as in teenagers. Too much technology and internet affect a child’s mental health, how the child interacts with others, and can lead to physical health problems.

Not only that technology has keeped me close to my family but it also helps to keep me in touch with the world. To clarify, it helps to keep me updated with all the current events. Many times, I have seen an argument or multiple posts about the same event taking place but I do not always know what’s happening. If something is fascinating or influential, I like to go look up the topic and read more about it. Technology has also helped me keep up with the new terminology; every once in awhile I see a new word that everyone is using and it is hard to understand the meaning of a sentence without the definition of the word. Therefore, I go and look up the definition or I read a few more posts to pick up on context clues which would lead me to understand the meaning of the sentence. An example is the world “fleek”;I didn’t know what it meant until I looked it up to make the sentence “I got my eyebrows done, now I’m fleek-ified” make sense. This is one way that technology keep me updated with current events and the new terminology.

The new and recent technological advances are taking a huge growth to new and bigger heights in the world .From computers to laptops to supercomputers, technology is not resting for a single day. Now the impact of technology has been in the educational environments such as schools, classrooms and so much more. It has given students, teachers, and staff access to new and higher resources than ever, but the question is whether this huge growth has made a positive impact? In the essay “How Google Is Making Us Smarter” by Carl Zimmer, he gives examples and an explanation on how we as people have adapted to the internet so much that we’re like cyborgs, also the improvements and results made from it. Another article titled “Technology: Using Power for Good” by Hansdeep Singh, Jaspreet Singh, and Linda Raftree talks about how technology is becoming more accessible and gives us information on the positive outcomes. An additional article titled, “Study: Emerging Technology Has Positive Impact in Classroom” by Ryan Lytle, talk about different people implementing technology into their teachings as well as the positive aspects for students education. The recent advances in technology have drastically affected many areas of society in positive ways. Technology doesn’t get in the way of learning in fact it has increased the amount that kids want to learn. Technology does not get in the way of learning it helps with kids being able to look up lessons, and video tutorials if they don’t get the lesson when it was taught in class. It gives kids easier ways to relearn topics instead of having to read a book or even sit through the whole lessons again. Having technology is also better because you don’t have to waste time going to a public library for research projects.

Innovation is the act of introducing something new; this could be an idea, a method, or a device. Innovation happens every day and if you pay attention you will see it all around you. With some new technology we as a people have to ask if it’s ethical, socially acceptable, or sustainable because sometimes the boundaries tend to get pressed. These questions can apply to every invention or discovery known to mankind. Not all of the latest and greatest become big news buzzing your ears with social media wars, picketing, or even rioting but they all have a life span as technology advances and humans continue to push the limits. The advancements are designed to help people not only do the simplest of tasks but at times extend to perform the greatest of tasks. There is one major driver of change that is transforming the future of work and that is the upsurge of smart machines. The rise of smart machines will lead to significant changes to how work is organized and how we complete work tasks.

Is technology influencing the way we think, act, and communicate? Yes, of course it is. Is that a good thing? That is a more complicated question. Our lives are changing as new technology arrives, whether you want to believe it or not. In many ways, that is a positive thing; in other ways, it can be perceived as negative.

By increasing the use of technology, it is limiting us from face to face interaction. Being on your iPhones 24/7 is creating a huge problem for the upcoming generation. Most people can sit behind a computer for hours typing how they’re feeling, whether on social media, email or text messaging, but they lack eye contact because they are so used to staring at a screen and hitting the send button that when they’re standing right in front of another human being they lack the basic skills for human interaction.

Technology has arguably had one of the greatest impacts on our society in the past decade. It has integrated itself from only a few elements in life to now countless different ways and methods of usage throughout day to day activities (Lenhart, Purcell, Smith, & Zickuhr, 2010). There has been a steady increase in technology use not only with teenagers, but also adults. An aspect that is also on the rise with technology is the use of the internet (Lenhart et al., 2010). Some of the most popular uses of the internet include online shopping, reading news outlets, researching economic and health information, social media, and countless other means. Of the variety of uses for the internet, one of the most common is social networking; almost three-fourths of individuals between the ages of 18-29 frequently use a social networking website (Lenhart et al., 2010). Whether it is updating a profile or posting a photo, a common theme between the different forms of social networking and technology is communication.

Society is leading to the demise of childhood in regard to technology. For one children walking around that are as young as five years old with cellphones. As stated by the article ‘Blame society not the screen time’, “the next generation of technology is doom our kids” It is not even just the children on phones it is also children on gaming systems, when I play Xbox I see some of my friends online playing all night long which can cause tiredness and will take a toll on the academics of the children. So society and parents in general need to limit the time spent online.
