Technology : The Importance Of Technology In Our World

Today’s society is more affected by technology than it ever has been and it is changing every second of every day. Advancements in technology have been changing our culture and society for hundreds of years; from hunters and gatherers to information overload to a future of the most advanced technologies we could imagine. What are smart devices? “A smart device is an electronic device, generally connected to other devices or networks via different wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, 3G, etc., that can operate, to some extent, interactively and autonomously”(Weiser). There has been a debate for years on whether or not technology impairs users from performing daily tasks and whether it is has become too much to handle. Technology is a very important and helpful aid to an individual’s every day life. Although some might see it as a distraction, the number of ways in which technology has advanced our capabilities, effectiveness and knowledge is enough to sink most opposing arguments. Technology has created a very different society completely changing the very concept of accessibility, making information available at almost any time and anyplace.

It seems odd to me to write a paper about the importance of technology in education. While there may still be skeptics within the field of education, I would imagine that most people would agree that a technology rich environment enhances a child's education at least to some degree. Even teachers who are reluctant to infuse technology into their lesson plans would have to see the merit of students using technology consistently in classrooms. Technology has gone through a huge change throughout the years. It is constantly innovating and moving society towards new explorations and is helping human life. Technology has given humanity better ways of communication, education, and transportation. Also, technology has made a big impact in education, health, and in science fields with research and data. Even though technology has made such an impact in these fields, there is also a downside in the technological advancement in the world. The question lies in the facts and the change that humanity has made within time to benefit and better our world in the industrial technological time.

In the world we live in, technology is advancing everywhere from software to machines and even cooking utensils. Improvements to our lives, by technology, include electricity, medical technology, fast productions and, Access to information and education. Without technology the world would be different and it would leave us at a disadvantage.

In the modern era, our society has become accustomed to not paying attention to our surroundings whether it be in class, while walking, or even driving. Most of the time students and even adults are often consumed by technology and do not pay attention to the world right in front of them. In addition, technology has enabled our society to have new sense of multitasking and have become comfortable with doing work without consulting others. This microtheme addresses these issues and requires us to work in a group and to collaborate and discuss ideas to formula patterns and a detailed analysis.

Do you remember the days of going outside and playing games, riding bikes, and just hanging out with friends around the neighborhood? While these days are not completely gone yet they are slowly fading away due to the use of technology. It is said that on average a person is on their phone twice as much as they think they are a day. This is an issue that I have been blind to for years as I to have been trapped in this reoccurring theme of electronic dependency. Now there are many advantages to the technology that we have obtained the last decade. Technology has been very important to our society from an educational and entertainment standpoint. While, Modern-day technology has been proven to be a useful tool for communication and some even believe it enhances our communication skills, I believe that it has severely affected our conversational abilities and our ability to form intimate relationships.

Technology has taken over most of the world in today’s time. It affects people and also affects our jobs. But in some cases it makes jobs easier and better but it can also eliminate them. So that’s why in today’s time people need to choose wisely about what they want to do for a living. So my job that I have chosen and that I’ve kept for the past 2 years is civil engineering and owning my own construction company.

In the article by Dr. Vannevar Bush titled “As we may think” many issues relating to technology and its advancements and tragedies were mentioned. The article begins with Dr. Vannevar Bush discussing science and its relationship to warfare to be more specific his involvement as one of the scientists to develop the atomic bomb. A bomb that had many repercussions and killed approximately “140,000 people. This was a retaliation for what happened in pearl harbor which an attack on American soil by the Japanese. As a result, the atomic bomb fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki as well as started a war. The technological advances made by the scientists had advances that help civilization and caused a lot of destruction as well.

Technology is scientific development that helps solving problems and increases human abilities. In the society nowadays, technologies are the center of connecting with people all over the world and impact our society in a big way. If we look back thirty years ago, not everyone had all of new technologies and knew an idea of getting information at anytime and anywhere from a World Wide Web. Because of these technologies, people have opportunities to improving their knowledge of world via Internet technology and to communicate with people from all corners of world. Smart phone are the fast growing technology among all of the new technologies and a huge increase in the capabilities of our electronic devices. Comparing to the past, people used cell phone only for calling and answering from other people, but nowadays the way of using cell phone have been changed. Smart phone is the multi-tasking device that allows people talking, texting, surfing the internet, and using a lot functions all the time. Because of the easiness of smart phone, a lot people, especially teens, are interested to use its technology to do things. Texting, surfing the internet, and “selfie” have become a trend of teens using cell phone and have played a huge part of teen’s lives.

Humanity has evolved since the beginning of time. We went from using rocks and other objects to create tools that would ensure our survival to producing technologies unimaginable to the human mind. It’s apparent that things are a lot different than they were hundreds of thousands of years ago. Technology is essential to the lives of today’s modern Americans. Technology have grown from a simple calculator to a machine who can think it self. Computers/laptops and smartphones have become common thing for everyone in other words “it’s a must have thing”. Today we expect everyone should have one of these or we see them as an outsider or outcast. We treat them different, make fun of them, and tease them in front of others. Technology has always impacted us in many ways for example- as students, as teachers, and as businesses owners.

In our present world, we are faced with the double-edged sword of having instantaneous access to all information at our fingertips. However, it seems as though this easy access to information comes at the cost of the morality of the community. This ethical degradation of modern society is permeated through our overindulgence with technology, the manner in which we treat others, and mainstream music.
