They are kings and queens… royalty. It is important to Itheans that fathers are apart of their sons life because sons must learn their father's traits. Homer, the author of the Odyssey showed he portrayed the idea of continuity between generations by putting odysseus out of his son's life till he was old enough to take care of himself. Once Telemachus was older his father was brought home, Itheans believed that their sons were to take their place in life once they retire, so that it was a repeating loop that way there was always their trait. Because if they did not do this each person's trait would go extinct. Women had no power. Men were owners of land, they had money, jobs, Men had control and power. Yes there was women in power but …show more content…
To make those special effects in the movie you would make all human and non-magical beings less detailed. Make them dull, dark colors, little make-up. And all the magical creatures in bright bold colors double the make-up. Have all their surroundings dull in the background when they are on screen and have them stand out with the special effects. The monsters have fine detail and dark colors but they are dark VIBRANT colors so that they look ugly and scary he makes them show up when least expected so that it surprises you and makes the humans fear him so that you would fear them as well. And the goddesses will show up when needed most you make them glowing and the good guys so that they seem more beautiful than they are. You have them play the parts of fair and understanding that way they are more intriguing and have an unexplainable beauty that you feel attracted to, they are the opposite of the monsters.
The odyssey is about a man who leaves for war after the birth of his son and does not return until it is too late to raise his son. By the time he gets back his wife is covered in suitors and has no more faith that her loving husband will ever return. In The Odyssey, the reader is easily able to distinguish that Odysseus is a hero in the story. He is a god-like figure. Odysseus’s wife, Penelope, is a hero and seen by many readers as such especially females. Both possess characteristics of heroes and they deserve to be considered such but that does not mean that they are the true hero of the story. Their son Telemachus is the true hero in The Odyssey. The reader should be able to identify with him the most and realize everything that has happened in his life and he deals with it with extreme heroism. He handles the situation in his life the way every human being should.
Three traits that Odysseus and Telemakhos share are clear-headedness, eloquence, and showing strong emotion. They are portrayed with these traits in the Odyssey, composed by Homer. Odysseus is a renowned military strategist, warrior, and the King of Ithaca. He was forced to go to war against Troy twenty years ago, and since then has traveled all over the Aegean trying to find a way back home. Meanwhile, his son, Telemakhos, has developed into a full-grown man from the mere infant he was when his father left for war. He has searched far and wide for news of his father, still hoping, along with his mother, Penelope, that Odysseus is still alive somewhere and somehow, even though most have assumed he is dead. Through his ventures, Telemakhos
The Odyssey is filled with emotion and adventure. Homer’s ability to show and give the reader a visual of each and every scene gives the story its unbelievable significance. To all the people who read his work there is something to be captured within every sentence, each one different in its own, unique way. Through tales of courage and defeat, friendship and love this book tells of all the values within the life of a single, solitary man, and his journey to attain what is true and dear to him. And this journey is known to all of us as The Odyssey. The Odyssey is a test of human devotion and trust through the gods, the mortals, and the obstacles through which they venture. No matter where they go or what they do, humans are tested for
Odysseus’ and Telemachus’ journeys or nostos were both very similar and different. They parallel each other in some ways but they are also completely different at other times. Telemachus starts as a younger, less mature boy, and without the presence of his father during his childhood, he becomes a timid, shy and spineless boy who is greatly pampered by his mother. He has even more to achieve, being the son of a world-famous father, and this is a very difficult reputation to live up to. His journey, and after that the killing of the suitors who took advantage of him really show how his journeys and problems throughout the book mature him from being a shy, timid boy into a mature man. Odysseus’ journey also taught him about many things

The Odyssey is an epic poem that follows a father and son trying to reunite against all odds . It starts with Odysseus still stuck on Calypso's island. Telemachys has grown up and is becoming a man. At Ithaca there are a hundred suitors wanting penelope but she won't leave odysseos. The Telemachia shows Telemachus journey to manhood, the hole Odysseus leaves in Ithaca and the effects of war.
Throughout the course of The Odyssey, Athena provides Telemachus with the courage and strength necessary to become a man. Athena often gives Telemachus a limited amount of guidance, allowing him to exercise his free will. However, she frequently offers her wisdom, raising his bravery. Furthermore, once Telemachus proves himself as a man, she lends her support in battle. Through both assistance and advice, Athena guides Telemachus from boyhood to manhood.
Many novels can be about more than just one story. The novel, The Odyssey by Homer, is about Odysseus and his journey home from the Trojan War, however, throughout the novel, Odysseus’ son, Telemachus, also becomes a man. Telemachus becoming a man is displayed in many ways throughout the novel. Telemachus stood up for what he believed in. He was also smart about what he did and planned. Another way that Telemachus became a man was that he had his own ideas but he would still listen to others. The novel, The Odyssey, is a story about Telemachus’ journey into manhood.
When describing the tenacious Telemachus, son of Odysseus, to someone who has never read about the character, one should highlight his spirit. Early on in the book, Athena disguises herself as an old friend of Odysseus to deliver the news to his son that the great war hero still lives. Upon hearing this, Telemachus wastes little time in clearing out the disrespectful suitors chasing after his mother. He lashes out at the unwelcome men with articulate yet pointed words, “You suitors who plague my mother, you, you insolent, overweening… for this evening let us dine and take our pleasure, no more shouting now… But at first light we all march forth to assembly, take our seats so I can give my orders and say to you straight out: You must leave my
The Odyssey by Homer is about love, and war. It takes the reader on a journey through Odysseus and his families lives. Which consists of Odysseus trying to get back to his family, his son searching for him, and wooers trying to marry his wife. At the end of it all Odysseus gets home and punishes the wooers, and anyone involved with them. Which I think he was justified in doing so, and is what I'll be explaining throughout his essay.
In the Greek mythology, Telemachus and Odysseus are both heroic but Telemachus is less of an epic hero than Odysseus. Homer was trying to show us who is the better hero to the readers and its Odysseus. Odysseus is intellect, courageous, and strong and Odysseus has more of those traits than Telemachus.
Through modern culture, most people are familiar with the whole storyline of The Odyssey. Odysseus leaves Troy and embarks on an epic journey filled with adventure and fantasy. However, most readers are unaware that there are actually two journeys that are unfolding simultaneously throughout Homer’s epic. Telemachus’ journey greatly differs from that of his father, Odysseus. While it might not be filled with as much adrenaline and adventure as his father‘s journey, Telemachus’ quest is certainly one that should be noted. It is the story of his coming-of-age. Telemachus greatly matures into a more capable young man. However it is debatable if he will every become the man that his father is.
In the epic “The Odyssey” By Homer, the godlike Odysseus is lost at sea, leaving his son and wife in his homeland of Ithaca. The character that goes through the most character development is Odysseus's son, Telemachus. There are many moments that show Telemachus’s growth overtime, such as how he acts as the story progresses. To understand this point we must look at how he behaves before and after his journey. At first he acts immature, young, and irresponsible. As time progresses he learns how to take care of himself and become an adult.
Throughout the last few books of the Odyssey, Homer explains to the reader how Odysseus reestablishes his relationships with his family and friends of Ithaka. It’s possible the restoration of his relationship with his son, Telemachus, is the most significant event of all. This reconnection carries out three main purposes. First, it serves to characterize Telemachus' likeness to his father in the virtues of wisdom, humility, patience, and organization. Secondly, it enables Odysseus a chance to coach Telemachus on how to be a powerful ruler like he is. Lastly, Homer uses the reconnection to highlight the importance of a healthy family structure to a society. To be able to understand
By looking at the epic The Odyssey by Homer, there are a lot of contacts between human and immoral, the relationship between Athena and Odysseus, which make me interesting, also this is important for the story. The relationship between Athena and Odysseus is the key for the story, because Odysseus had received a lot of help from Athena, their relationship is the reason to explain why would an immortal Athena who never interesting or attracted by any male either mortal or immortal, but only a human male, Odysseus, and helps Odysseus in either direct and indirect ways to get back home and take average to all the suitor in order for Odysseus to get back his family and his land.
