The American Dream The American Dream isn’t just one idea. The dream is an idea made up to motivate people to pursue their dreams. So in essence the American Dream is the will to pursue your dreams. There is no such thing as one set American Dream as people think. Everyone is different, how could they have the same dream? The name “American Dream” should be changed to “Dreams of Americans.” The American Dream is the idea that every American has the same dream and are striving to achieve the same goals, but in reality it is the complete opposite. They want to save their money to buy a house. They want a couple of acres, some cows, and pigs. All they want to is live off the fat of the land with no one telling them what to do. My definition of an American dream is simply an idea that every US citizen has an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. As the American dream is simply something that proclaims, “All mean are created equal” and those they are “endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights” including life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
