The animal welfare act has failed to protect animals once again. The bear population is threatened by a hunt season, alongside the turtle population. While most turtles are not being hunted, they are killed by cars passing by their habitats because drivers don’t slow down as the law requires. Turtles don’t reproduce as fast as other animals, In fact, they take more than 17 years to mature and reproduce. Considering the fact that they walk on the cross roads to get to where they lay their eggs, it is understandable that they get hit by cars regularly, and that decreases the turtle population.
