General Purpose: To provide a new perspective to the audience about a topic that has been a rising problem the past decade.
Specific Purpose: To provide a new perspective to people on the beneficial side of increasing legal immigration
Thesis: Although there are many arguments in favor of closing the borders, the opposing argument for increasing legal immigration has a many benefits as well
INTRODUCTION: Of course border control and immigration are something you have all heard mentioned whether by people you know, or on the news, or read in online. But the majority of the time when I hear this being mentioned, I am hearing the argument in favor of closing the border and cracking down on illegal immigrants however, today I am going to be arguing in favor of increasing legal immigration
Establish credibility: in my home town, being just about an hour from the border, with my dads job as a farmer being heavily affected by the amount of workers that come over I have began to see this argument from a different perspective
Motivate to listen: This is something that before doing a lot of research I didnt realize how it would effect me in anyway, but Ive learned that it definitely does affect me since I am going to be out in the work field soon with many immigrant workers, just like many of you will, or may be already.
Thesis: Although there are many arguments in favor of closing the borders and tightening up security, the opposing argument for increasing legal immigration
Immigration is one of the contentious issues that continue to elicit mixed reactions from different parties. In most western economies, debates on immigration policies have been on the rise in the recent decades. Whereas the international human rights have confirmed that freedom of movement is one of the basic human rights and hence no one can be deprived, most governments have put restrictions on immigration. Furthermore, the enactment of open immigration policies in various countries continues to raise mixed reactions with proponents and critics of the policies contributing to the debate. Immigration policies usually vary from country to country and within states with both, either opting for open or closed immigration policies. The impacts of illegal immigration and open border policies have been central to the above debate. This paper explores the issue of open border policies and illegal immigration and its inherent dangers.
Illegal immigration. Is it positive or negative? There are many views to this, as to any topics in its nature, but is it really that big of a deal? This paper will be introducing the pros and cons to this subject. There will also be the views politicians of the upcoming 2016 election. This will cover the views of Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, and Bernie Sanders. What’s your view towards illegal immigration?
The debate over illegal immigration has been a constant and ongoing struggle in the United States. Millions of illegal immigrants are living among us in the country, we have more entering daily. Recently, President Barack Obama touched on the topic with his immigration executive order. Unfortunately, with the republican takeover of the white house, many of his actions are not being supported. This is viable evidence that there are people who want to help fix the immigration system in a way that will benefit illegal immigrants and give them a fighting chance to prosper here in the United States. With that being said, there are also powers who do not want to see that happen because they believe that it is not in the best interest of the United States to open their borders to illegals. This puts to question what the next steps for the United States will decide and how that will affect Americans across the country. My goal of this essay is to enlighten the moral concerns in the debates pertaining to immigration.
Illegal immigration it is a controversial issue for many years. Immigrants do not have the same benefits as Americans citizens. According to the article Illegal Immigration by Kathleen Brown states “In the past decade, the number of illegal immigrants has double, to 2.1 million, equivalent to the population of Arkansas” (Brown). In fact, illegal immigrants immigrate to America, but their main intention is to get better opportunities in life. The American dream is all over the world, which is the principal reason why people come to United States to make their American dream true. However, the epiphany is that Americans protect their country by implementing more laws and enforcing their borders secure.
The other issues that have raised concern relate to national security and unfairness. In order to protect our security, some opponents want to discourage entry by increasing patrols and surveillance and raising a wall to protect our southern border. These measures have failed in the past, and will likely do so in the future. By increasing the money we spend for added patrols and surveillance, we will only increase our costs. We should recognize that the majority of the individuals that have entered our country, by slipping across the border, are, otherwise, willing to abide by our laws for an opportunity at a better life. Their primary purpose is to improve their economic conditions, not to jeopardize our security or cause controversy with people holding legal status.
Immigration has been an essential but disruptive aspect of the people and the political state of the United States; however, debates related to immigration and its benefits are intensified significantly. Opposing immigration keeps ranting on how government should exercise better law to control over the people entering into the States from the foreign land. One of the most buzzed argument is that American citizen is unemployed because immigrants stole their jobs and disrupted the economy (Hoban, 2017). Also, an appeal to National security and vulnerability after several terrorist attacks all over the world and also to the government to keep track and maintain the no. of immigrants to create a safer environment (Cafaro, 2009). However, the contrary to these arguments have often been proven right. The pattern of the immigration shows that the contribution of the immigrants has resulted in an economic boost that cannot be overlooked by the government.
Within the confines of this essay lies the argument against the mass amnesty of the millions of illegal immigrants. This conclusion came to fruition through the use of the many sources at the disposal of anybody who can use a database. The topics that will be touched upon will include the evidence regarding the diversion of tax money and the amount of tax revenue that would be returned to the United States by the newly welcomed migrants, the costs of educating their children, the influx of crime caused by these individuals, a review of constitutional law and the ways in which it is involved, and a surprising, yet humanitarian angle to the side against amnesty regarding the methods of detainment used by the current centers that are in place and the inhumane treatment contained within those walls. A fair but firm criticism of the opposition will be taken as the major points behind their argument are systematically taken apart and discussed in length, yet, near the end, those points will be shown in a light that will not validate, but show these points to noble in their aim and explain why these points, while noble, are incapable of producing the results that the opposition would like to obtain.
The reforming of America?s immigration policy is something that can no longer be avoided and must be dealt with as soon as possible. Years of neglect by governmental agencies and policies makers have now made this issue one of the biggest in American politics. First of it must be understood that immigration does no only effect curtain areas of the country and curtain aspect of public life but rather all of American life. Both legal and illegal immigration affect major issues such as jobs availability for all citizens, wages, education in public schools system and in general, health care issues, and the homeland security.
This research will address U.S. immigration, specifically border security. I will evaluate liberal and conservative views on this issue and then present my own ideas.
On November 10, 2015, two National Economic Experts argued on “what the U.S. Immigration policy should be?” Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies argued against open immigration, while Alex Nowrasteh, an immigration policy analyst for the CATO Institute argued in favor of freer immigration. Reporter Jonathan Gonzalez of 9News Denver moderated the debate. The argument made by both experts was supported by strong evidence even though the ideas appear to be on two extreme ends with no middle ground ideas or compromises. At one extreme there is a need to reduce or stop immigration while the other extreme advocates for open borders. Even though Immigration has been an important part of American history, recently it has become a contentious issue, which is mostly about borders or no borders, and does not take in to account the macroeconomic aspect of this movement. The two experts argue on how the U.S. immigration program needs to adjust by scaling back or blocking further immigration vs. open immigration policy consistent with American values that promotes free-market economy.
In America, immigration has been an issue for a long time. American law enforcements, are striving to keep illegal immigrants from crossing the border. Although, the law enforcement doesn’t realize that they should worry more on drug trafficking, even though crossing the border is violating the law as well. Many Americans see Mexican immigrants as good or bad today. With the sources, I will be implying facts of pros and cons of illegal immigrants. It will include how Americans feel about illegal immigrants and if our law system is weak enough to let people come cross the border that easy throughout the years. Also, I will persuade readers into solving the issue with illegal immigrants by educating them. Why take them out, when most immigrants
Did you know that on average millions of illegal immigrants enter the U.S. every year? I believe that we need to start taking more action to slow down the illegal immigration rate into the U.S. I will be talking about the pros and cons of illegal immigration, how this immigration could help or hurt the economy, and what the immigrants need to do to come legally into the U.S.. The topic I chose was Illegal Immigration, people coming into the U.S. illegally without the right paperwork, is worthy of research because it’s a huge issue at the moment, could help or destroy the economy, and could bring more jobs to the states.Very few politics find that illegal immigration to be a hot topic at the moment compared to their other objectives(Smith 1).
In conclusion, the U.S. should not Increase border security because innocent people’s lives will be put in danger if they can’t emigrate to a safer place like the united states. Instead of increasing border security the U.S. government should work in a combined effort with other countries to fix the immigration and safety problems that are currently arising because of failed political infrastructures. There is much to be done to the current government, which is in much need of new reforms in its structure. It rests in our hands to stop the exploitation and deaths caused by the exaggerated border security in the U.S. therefore we must work together to fix the problems that affect us and our government. Finally, we Americans should most certainly
Illegal immigration has been a problem for the United States for a long time. This is not a new phenomenon and thousands of illegal immigrants have come into US through either the Mexico border, the Pacific Ocean, or through many other ways. Some people entered in country legally through a visit visa, but then have stayed illegally and are working in various places. Illegal immigration is a double enclosed sword; one hand it provide the local economy with cost benefits as the illegal immigrants are not paid so much, while they are more fruitful. On the other hand, these illegal immigrants do not pay taxes and their employers also do not pay their taxes. There are both pros and cons of illegal immigration and this paper shall take a look at some facts pertinent to illegal immigration in the United States.
As the years are passing by there has been a tremendous amount of illegal immigration into the United States. Illegal immigration was what made the United States as it is today but now it is getting out of hand and is a great buren. We have been seeing alot of troubles arising because of this matter. We will soon run out of excuses for this unreasonable amount of Illegal Immigration it must be closely monitored or things could get hectic. Those who support illegal immigration are blinded by pitty and should become more knowledgeable of what is actually happening and the great damage that is happening to the United States. Illegal immigration was originally vital to the development and prosperity of the united states; however, it has now become a determine to the country, and data about illegal immigration delaying further growth of the United States will be included, and for the opposing side there will be examples of economic data and expert support.
