There are many types of agriculture around me. I live in Arkansas where agriculture is the largest industry, adding around $ 16 billion to the stateś economy annually. Some of the largest agricultural products I see around me are soybeans, cotton, timber, and grain.
Agriculture is an important part of Arkansas economy. Arkansas major agricultural products are rice, soybeans, cotton, poultry and feed grain. Arkansas ranks in the top three nationally for broilers, catfish and several other commodities, as well as fifth in timber production, eighth in egg production, and tenth for soybean and grain sorghum production. Our agriculture is one of Arkansas many accomplishments. More than 44,000 farms spread across 13.8 million acres annually contribute

In the next 5o years farmers around the world will have to feed more people than we did the previous 100 years. Farmers are among the best stewards of the land as they realize they must protect the land in order for it to remain productive. Without someone to farm the land then we have no crops to export, which leads to no profit. As you can see the people who take time to plant and take care of the crops that make up Arkansas economy are just as important as the crops themselves.
While Arkansas is rich in its crops we are also big on cattle and livestock. Arkansas’ cattle inventory exceeds 1.7 million head, with 28,292 farms in Arkansas producing cattle. Arkansas is also ranked 12th nationally in bee cows on farms. Beef, pork, and chicken are the main meat that Arkansas farms. Cattle and calves contribute about 8% of the state’s livestock production. Chicken eggs, turkeys, and aquaculture complete the list of the top five livestock commodities produced in the state.
Now you see why agriculture is so important to Arkansas and its economy. Also why it is so important to me, and how it affects the way I live everyday. I also want to give thanks to all the farmers out there who are working hard everyday to contribute to Arkansas life. I feel thankful for being able to live in a state so rich in its
You are the most important thing this world has to offer. You make sure we don’t go hungry and we have clothes on our backs. You provide jobs for people across the world. You provide so much and yet ask for so little in return. According to the American Farm Bureau, “In America, farmers and ranchers are 2.2% of the population” (Social). A small number with a big impact. To me though, you are so much more than cows, sows and plows. You are blue corduroy jackets, tan and white show clothes, and basically a baseline for everything I and many agriculturist stand for.
Education is a powerful tool and, when used correctly, it has the power to teach someone a new skill, transform his or her perspective, and encourage personal growth and development. Throughout this country, numerous agricultural education programs help students to learn more about and deepen their understanding of one of this nation’s most valuable industries: the agricultural industry. Most importantly, these programs play a major role in helping to combat the lack of
"I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words, but of deeds." These famous words from "The FFA Creed" by E.M. Tiffany outline the basic beliefs of FFA members and agriculturists around the world. But these values, although crucial to the sustaining of our world's ever-increasing population, are growing more and more detached from the people not involved in agriculture. Although food and fiber production has increased in recent years, providing more bushels per acre and more meat per head of cattle, the agriculture industry has come under fire due to an overwhelming majority of people being totally disconnected from the agriculture industry. Today, we'll examine the primary causes of this disconnect, the negative effects on agriculture and our society as a whole that results from it, and how you can help solve this ever-growing problem.
This area extends along the Gulf of Mexico, from the Sabine River to the lower Rio Grande Valley. Cattle ranching is the largest and strongest agriculture industry. Along with cattle ranching, rice is also a very strong crop in the agriculture industry. More principle crops include cotton, grains, vegetables, and citrus fruits.
Over the years agriculture has nearly diminished from the workforce. Why is this happening? In fact, ever since the Industrial Revolution’s promises of “big city success” agriculture has taken a hit. Agriculture has been a foundation for the infrastructure of the United States since it’s creation. Agricultural careers are a necessity for the nation. It is important through the history, from whom it affects, the effects on the environment and people, and to find a solution to the loss of this core element.
Rangeland and pastures occupy about 55 percent of the total land area; on this are raised the world's largest number of sheep, producing more wool than any other country. Other livestock include cattle, about one-twelfth for dairying, and pigs. Beef and cattle hides are important products.
This article written in the Texas Agriculture, a magazine published by the Texas Farm Bureau, is about all the factors impacting farmers that effect their income. Over the past couple years, a combination of things has caused the average Texas farmers income to drop. The primary audience for this article is the farmers in Texas as they are experiencing these issues first hand. The secondary audience would be consumers who have noticed price fluctuations in products at the store and are wondering the reason.
Following the Civil War, a second industrial revolution in America brought many changes to the nation’s agriculture sector. The new technologies that were created transformed how farmers worked and the way in which the sector functioned. Agriculture expanded and became more industrial. Meanwhile government policies, or lack of them for a while, and hard economic conditions put difficult strains on farmers and their occupation. These changes in technology, economic conditions, and government policy from 1865 to 1900 transformed and improved agriculture while leaving farmers in hardship.
The agriculture industry is not only the largest industry within our state, but also within our nation. However, in recent years it has also been one of the most heavily criticized. This has led to a ‘brain drain’ in rural America as more people decide to leave our industry and their family farms.

Agriculture is a 71-billion-dollar industry in the state of Georgia alone as of 2014, according to the Georgia Farm Bureau’s website (web. August 16,2016). According to the USDA’s website, the United States agriculture industry contributed around 835-billion-dollars to the economy (web. August 16,2016). People may ask what is agriculture? According to dictionary.com agriculture is “the science, art, or occupation concerned with cultivating land, raising crops, and feeding, breeding, and raising livestock; farming” (dictionary.com). Georgia is one of the most diversified states when it comes to how many different commodities that are grown though out the state. The price per acre of farm land doubled to $2,140 over the last 10 years. A lack of health care also hurts farmers as farming ranks as the fourth most dangerous occupation in the country, and young farmers often must choose between health care and paying for their farm. All of these obstacles and more make farming a difficult occupation to enter. We need organizations such as Young Farmers’ to provide support, education and training to help our nation’s most important
Growing up on a small family wheat farm in southwestern Oklahoma, I have experienced the harsh conditions of farming firsthand. The job that used to employ the largest amount of people in the United States has lost the support and the respect of the American people. The Jeffersonian Ideal of a nation of farmers has been tossed aside to be replaced by a nation of white-collar workers. The family farm is under attack and it is not being protected. The family farm can help the United States economically by creating jobs in a time when many cannot afford the food in the stores. The family farm can help prevent the degradation of the environment by creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the people producing the food and nature. The family farm is the answer to many of the tough questions facing the United States today, but these small farms are going bankrupt all too often. The government’s policy on farming is the largest factor in what farms succeed, but simple economics, large corporations, and society as a whole influence the decline in family farms; small changes in these areas will help break up the huge corporate farms, keeping the small family farm afloat.
