Year Long School
Year long school is it a bad thing or good thing. It can affect a kids state of mind. It can ruin the way that they think. I for one think year long school is a good thing cause kids are able to get a better fit education for them. But it could also be a bad thing depending on how people look at it because kids won’t have a ton of free time for activities like having a job or hobbies. Shorter breaks could also cause behavioral problems if kids aren’t able to spend enough time with their families could cause some issues in the state of mind. In all honesty I for one think it’s a good thing cause it helps kids remember everything, easier to plan vacations, and can improve test scores.

Kids are also able to go into kindergarten when they are ready instead of having to wait until september to be in school. Giving parents the opportunity for when they feel like there kid is able to go into kindergarten and start their journey.
One of the pros about having year long school is it’s easier to keep all the information in since the summer for year long students are 2 weeks long. Which means it’s also easier to re-teach kids information and makes it easier for kids to maintain that information. Regular school kids with the 3 month long summer makes it easier for kids to loose information that they may have learned the past year. The year long school kids only have 2 week long summers which makes it easier for the kids to keep the information in so they won’t lose it. Which improves test scores which makes the schools look better.
Remediation is also a lot easier for kids. Traditional school has remediation during their summer breaks. Year long school has remediation during each
Year round schooling is better than regular school because, it allows the kids to retain more information and not lose what they learned, they also allow them to graduate earlier with higher retention levels. In discussion of Year Round Schooling, one controversial issue has been whether year round schooling is a good idea or not. People believe that year round schooling is a good thing and that it will increase academic achievement levels and benefit the students more than anything else. Students will also be able to advance more quickly since the schooling is year round, they have less to forget since the breaks are shorter. On the other hand people seem to believe that year round schooling takes away from the students and gives them less family time and less of an “Outside of school life” (NEA). Some other issues with year-round schooling is the rising cost and schedule adjustments.
Year-round schooling could make those vacations more difficult. Even though there is a shorter summer break using year-round schooling, there is still enough time for families to go on a long summer vacation. In fact, because of the way a balanced calendar is set up, there are different opportunities for vacations. In year-round schooling there are multiple breaks after each quarter. These can allow families to go on vacation on seasons other than summer, and have more frequent, smaller breaks during the year (Year-round). The cost for plane tickets and some other expenses of a vacation could be reduced. This could occur because if going on vacation during an offseason, plane tickets are generally less expensive (Year-round). With standard schooling there are times when families want to go on vacation. The problem is that there either is not a break that the family could go during, or the break is not long enough for the vacation the family wants (Flanagan). This causes the student to miss school, and with that tests, lessons, and homework. It can be hard for students to get caught up and fully understand the information that they missed during their time off of school (Flanagan). The frequent break would help with this and make planning vacations more easy. Summer vacationing seems difficult with year-round schooling, but there are actually many

Coming from myself, a senior in high school, summer break is all about forgetting school and living it up during the duration of the break. This causes teachers to have to pretest students to see what all they actually did remember and then go over the same material trying to get them to remember. With year-round schooling you do not have to worry as much about the loss of learning. The longest break with year-round schooling is three weeks. Well there will still be longer breaks and we’re getting crazy but your child can still miss school, as it stands right now it’s 8 absences per semester, that would also change with year round schooling because they would be going to school more so they would have the ability to miss more. Vacation trips shouldn't be an issue, a lot of parents plan trips now when there's school now but cut them short so their child doesn't go over the amount of absent days. Having year round schooling could actually help parents out a lot more, they could make their vacation longer without the fear of having to have their kid make up absents after school or having to go explain the the attendance board what the problem was, and why they were missing school. Year round schooling could help parents students and teachers.
According to the National Association for Year-Round Education, students will be able to advance more rapidly if they did year-round schooling. A by-product of summer break is the dividing of classes based on age. If schooling was year-round, there would be less distinction between one year and the next. This only teaches us to work with people from our generation. If we had year-round schooling we could advance quicker and work with people from different generations, just like how it would be in the future with jobs. Also, the constant learning environment takes away the emphasis of when the student started school and instead emphasizes skill
