We all agree to disagree in today’s society. No matter what topic is discussed, there is controversy surrounding it. One of the biggest controversies today is the Planned Parenthood funding argument. Should Planned Parenthood be funded by the state or federal government or should funding be pulled? This debate has gone on for years with two distinct sides with two very different out looks and views on the issue. I stand on the more “liberal” side of this argument and believe that Planned Parenthood should continue to be state funded. Planned Parenthood’s resources are so beneficial to so many people and is important for overall health of a community. When people think Planned Parenthood, they often think abortions however, as of 2014 abortions only accounts for 3% of the services Planned Parenthood provides. The other 97% of services are all screening, treatment, sex education and preventative measures (Business Insider). These are all resources that without PP would be unattainable to a very large female demographic. A large portion of this demographic are the women of color and women in rural areas. “"Defunding" would have devastating consequences for millions of people who already face barriers to care — particularly people of color, people with low incomes, and people in rural communities”(istadwithpp.org). Without Planned Parenthood many women and families will struggle with getting the medical help they need and deserve. People on the opposite side to this argument,
