September 11th, 2001 is a day that left deep scars on Americans and America’s history. Extremists from a terrorist group, called al-Qaeda, whose main goal is to make countries that are predominantly Islamic get rid of all non-Islamic influences, hijacked four commercial airplanes, full of innocent passengers, and then smashed one into each of the Twin Towers or the World Trade Center in New York. Between 8:46 a.m. – 10:28 a.m. (EDT) two of the biggest skyscrapers of New York suffered a terrorist attack. Two commercial planes were hijacked by members of Al-Qaeda organization and crashed into tower one and two of WTC making them collapse in less than 15 Seconds, this horrible event killed around 2,996 people, creating panic and chaos in the multitude. The tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks on The United States of America on September 11, 2001, was America’s biggest terrorist attack, killing thousands of people & totaling a cost of $3 trillion in damages. 9/11 was about 4 commercial airplanes, which were hijacked by the Islamic terrorist group “Al-Qaeda” & crashing the airplanes, killing innocent. September eleven 2001 two planes were highjacked and flown into the twin towers as a suicide mission. This was the first major terrorist attack on the United States. Terrorism has taken so many innocent lives. Its an issue we deal with on a daily basis. Because of this, President George Bush took extreme measures and was very successful on the global war on terror. He made multiple changes to laws and regulations to help keep American citizens safe. Despite the extreme measures former president George Bush took, the war on terror is not a winnable war.We can take pro cautions to terrorist attacks to a minimum in the United States but this war is something that is ever going to end.

The Attack on the September 11, and the consequent War on Terror changed how the American government and its public perceive terrorism and how to formulate a policy to counter the phenomenon. A couple of large wars were waged on the name of War on Terror and many other small wars and conflicts took place in numbers of countries and continents to eradicate the threat of a terrorist attack. Yet the terrorist groups survived and the United States were left with a large debt acquired by expensive counterterrorism effort. After more than a decade, we are still facing the same enemy with no concrete plan to end the conflict. As long as the United States remains as a world powerhouse and a key player in global stage, it will be a target of a terrorist attack, so there must be an effective plan to finally end the threat of terrorism. The counter-terrorism strategy of the United States following the Attack on September 11 has been largely ineffective. In order to end the Fourth Wave of Modern Terrorism, there must be a strategy shift within the United States government while simultaneously creating a counter-narrative to oppose Al-Qaeda 's propaganda.

It started out as a typical morning in the World Trade Center. 14, 154 people were arriving that morning for work at 1 and 2 World Trade Center. Until the unbelievable happened. At 8:46 am the north tower was struck by a American Airlines Flight 11 headed from Boston to Los Angeles. At first the people in the tower thought an explosion occurred like in 1993 World Trade Center bombing , or a little two passenger plane hit the building. It wasn’t until people on the ground found a very large landing gear, luggage to Los Angeles that anyone realized it was a passenger plane.

At this moment, everybody there and around the world knew this was a terrorist attack. With both towers stuck by jets and both on fire, the FAA better known as the Federal Aviation Administration shut down all New York City area airports to prevent anything else from happening. The city also shut off all of its bridges and tunnels so that nobody would be able to get in or leave. At 9:43 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon, creating a huge cloud of smoke and immediate evacuation from the building. At this moment in time people of the United States began to question exactly how many of these plans are coming and what they are going to hit. At 10:05 a.m., the south tower of the World Trade Center begins to collapse, falling straight down into the streets of New York City. A huge mass of dust and debris from the tower slowly drifts away from the building. Minutes after that, a portion of the Pentagon collapses, then around 10:10 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93, another hijacked passenger jet, crashes in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, close to Pittsburg. Around 18 minutes later, the north tower of the World Trade Center also falls to the ground, creating another big cloud of smoke and debris. The aftermath of this terrible attack affected people and their communities nationwide. It took many years to rebuild the destroyed parts of New York City.

The immoral tragedy that overwhelmed our nation phiscally and emotionally on September 11 has shocked a numerous amount of Americans. The images of the massacre that traveled all around the world just proved how helpless the world is to terrorism. However that shock turned into rage, fuming anger very quick. A threating mix of emotions began to settle across America when a hijacked airliner crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. During that early morning American Airlines flight 11 just moments earlier crashed into the North Tower. I was in first grade at the time in school and when they told us what was happening I didn’t really understand until I saw my teacher crying. Then at 9:05 am, about twenty minutes after the first collision, United Airlines flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. All I remember was my mom picking me up from school immediately with sorrow tears running down her cheeks. Turning on the television was just a nightmare. Every single one of the news stations repeatedly showed the buildings collapsing to the ground. I felt a great amount of grief for the families of there loved ones that sadly did not make it out alive. They had to relive that terrible moment over and over again. How could such an awful act be committed on this beautiful place we live on? All we can do, is look at the terrorists who could obligate this depressing act and what possible reasons they have for doing it and why they would think to do such a thing.

In my personal opinion I feel that violence and death resulting of innocent people is never justified. On the subject of the Atomic bomb the force which was used may have been very destructive but I suppose that the message the U.S was sending to Japan was clear and heard. American politicians believed that it was a necessary use of force. President Truman gave the Japanese a warning before hand saying that if they did not surrender more destruction would come their way.

After the WTC South Tower burns for 56 minutes, it collapses, killing approximately 600 workers and first responders in the last 10 seconds. At 10:03am, Flight 93 crashes into a field in 1, PA. This city is 20 minutes from Washington D.C. In this flight before they went down, the passengers revolted trying to take the plane back. At 10:28am the North Tower collapses after burning for 102 minutes killing about 1400 people. 34 minutes later, Mayor Rudy Giuliani orders anyone south of Canal Street to evacuate Manhattan. After the events of that morning, everyone is scrambling for the rest of the day. Later on that night, the final event was WTC 7 collapsing from ancillary damage with nobody inside (Huffington Post, 9-11 Research).

The question on every person’s mind when it comes to this topic, is whether or not it was necessary for the USA to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th and 9th of August 1945 at the end of World war two.

This attack by the Osama bin Laden-led al-Qaeda terrorist group was one of the most horrific events in history and continues to impact the world today. September 11, 2001 marks the most significant event in the 21st century, because of this event, the United States has incurred substantial debt and economic downturn, the immigration policy has significantly changed , and there is an increase in airport security that has spread throughout the world.
