The government is supposed to be there for the people and to help enforce the law for the people. Sometimes people run into issues with laws, some laws can be a reasonable and are put there for a good logical reason. Such as helping endangered species or excess food production. On the opposing side, you have laws that seem to be unfair to farmers or ranchers. For example, farmers or ranchers are being pushed off their lands by government or having to make new career choice in life because of strict laws or because of eminent domain. The question that needs to be asked is, does the government need to step back and reevaluate the harsh laws it put in effect or do farmers and ranchers just need to do what’s asked of them and accept their loss …show more content…
The farmers believe themselves to be freedom fighters for not being pushed around by the government because of refusing to abide by grazing laws. The Bundy’s would get fines because their cattle would graze onto federal land and refuse to pay them. Now their lands are protected and their cattle can no longer graze on their own land. CNN says that with the surrounding lands and the ranchers land are now being protected because of a tortuous that is on the endangered species list. Cattle ranchers have had to move, but the Bundy’s refuse to move their cattle. The Bundy’s have recently taken over a federal building with armed weapons protesting that ranchers are being treated unfairly and because they do not want to sell their land. Except the fire went out of control and ended up burning down 48,000 acres and burned approximately 400 homes were destroyed with one billion in damages. No one was charged for this and it was more drastic then what happened to the Hammond ranch. The government’s role for the people is to challenge them like how contestants from “The Amazing Race” or “Fear Factor” are challenged. Government should be like a reality competition show filled with adventure and danger (Amazing Race, 2003) (Fear Factor, 2005). Just like the government in “The Hunger Games” (Collins, 2008). People should compete for rights and liberties. The competitions can be held under the government’s supervision. These competitions can involve multiple life daring tasks and only the ones that survive win. The losers or the ones not so fortunate die in the process, a true fight to the death. Government works from a federal standpoint and does not get involved in local affairs.

In a normal government we expect the government to look out for the people that they are governing, but in this case they didn't watch out for their people at all. For example. In 1786, Shays' Rebellion occurred in western Massachusetts as a protest to rising debt and economic chaos. However, the national government was unable to gather a combined military force amongst the states to help put down the rebellion (kelly). Theodore Robert Bundy was an infamous serial killer who confessed to brutally murdering over 30 women. He was born on November 24th, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. Ted’s mother, Eleanor Louise Cowell gave birth to him in the Elizabeth Lund Home For Unwed Mothers. The identity of Ted’s father is still unknown, but his birth certificate names a Lloyd Marshall. In 2001, Steve and Dwight Hammond started a fire which they argued was to kill an invasive species, as is usual in dealing with these problems.
