When you grow up, what do you want to do as a career? Do you want to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, architect, designer, or something else? I want to be a doctor, or a pediatrician to be more specific. A pediatrician helps children under the age of 18 with their health and body. That is why the career of pediatrician is in the health science cluster. Health science is where you help others with their health and body. I chose to be a pediatrician because I like to work with children, learn about the human body, and I like to help people recover from illnesses. It is so unfortunate that little children at the age of one can die because of fevers or other major health problems. I hope to help these unfortunate children live a normal life. In the offices I will work in, it will be a pleasant environment, so that kids will feel comfortable. In the rooms, there will be chairs for their parents, a bed for them to lie on when I do their treatments, and there will be toys and books. When I work, I can wear a number of different things. I will wear scrubs in hospitals when I do surgical procedures. These are very sanitary, which is important for surgeries. Other times, I will wear skirts or dresses. These make me look professional, and I will be comfortable. Also, comfortable shoes, like sneakers, will help. Pediatricians walk a lot when working, so high heels won 't work. Being a pediatrician also requires certain character traits to help. You need to be patient and tolerant. Little kids at ages 1-4 can be noisy and restless. Without patience, you will not be able to operate on them. Also, you need to be outgoing. When you are outgoing, you will be able to openly describe health problems and openly suggest ways to change it. Furthermore, you need to be diligent. A pediatrician will face many obstacles where they don 't know what to do, or they think they can 't do it. When they have diligence, though, they will be able to overcome the challenge and cure the patient. Not only do you need the individual traits, you also need to use teamwork. Almost every time I perform an operation or checkup, there will be another nurse or doctor, sometimes even three others. For a

You undoubtedly have to have a strong love for children and have patience to be a Pediatrician. If you don’t like children then it is apparent being a Pediatrician is not the job for you. I have dreamed of being a Pediatrician since I was 7 years old, ever since I was rushed to the emergency room for an accident I had. I remember how the doctor interacted with me; he introduced himself, and he explained what a Pediatrician did. He told me step by step what he was doing, as he was doing it, and how he was going to do it. From then is when I realized that doctors were not scary, and since that day I have dreamed of becoming a
I would like to go into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career field. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners help Pediatricians and other Physicians diagnose and take care of children from infancy to young adults. I have grown up with ten siblings and many more cousins, so I have learned how to deal with children of all ages. Also, I have been interested in the medical field since I was a little girl and I have always loved to help people. I would have liked to be a Pediatrician but I would prefere not be in school for another thirteen years, so I found that the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner was the perfect career for me.
In addition to nursing knowledge and practical skills, pediatric nurses must also have the ability to form rapid connections with their juvenile patients. Most children are often scared to go to the doctor, so the pediatric nurse needs to be able to gain the child’s trust and to be able to dispel the fear that the child might have. You must also be able to remain calm under pressure and be a quick thinker, and also be able to smile through the most stressing situations because children can tell when an adult seems worried.

I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
Matthew Brennan from he Health and Pregnancy Center of WebMD says, “Pediatricians are physicians who specialize in the growth and development of babies, children, and adolescents” (WebMD). Pediatricians are responsible for assuring concerned parents that their precious child is on the correct track for a long and healthy life. While researching more on the tasks of these doctors, I found that they mainly examine the child before coming up with a diagnosis. A typical examine consists of checking their ears, reflexes, throat, etc. I had also learned that pediatricians are the first to examine a baby who is just born. They must be sure the new baby is breathing and responding correctly (WebMD).
Having a private practice may be the best ting that a pediatrician can do, but it is very expensive to set up a private practice and it may take years to plan. Many pediatricians prefer to work in a hospital and have their own little room to check on children. The room the doctor works in may be different according to how much money the hospital has to give to each doctor. Trying to check on young children can be very scary, so in an effort to not scare little children many pediatricians “...make an effort to use colors and special decorative effects which can be appealing to the children’s eyes..”(Occupational Guidance). Many pediatricians might have a day when they must save an infant from dying of a disease or by a common accident.

Sunday, March 13 was a day I will never forget nor never just get over. Waking up around 6 in the morning for work I felt fine, for most this is normal but for me in this time in my life it was not. I awoke energized, stress free, and not nauseous for the first time in a week or more. This was strange because I was around 6 weeks pregnant.
