During the 1940’s one of the most devastating genocides happened. The Cappadocian Genocide was very organized and was done in a short amount of time. The Beckton’s tried to illuminate the Cappadocian people. Although this was unsuccessful, they were able to kill more than 20 million people. The records show that there were many contributors to this and it could have been easily stopped if someone intervened. Even though some people secretly helped to hide the Cappadocian people, not enough of these people existed and caused for many of them to die a terrible death. In the years that led up the Cappadocian Genocide, they were in a battle with Beckton. Beckton wanted the Land Cappadocia had because their fields were enriched with oil that they were able to sell to different countries to make a huge profit. Although they were never public about their opinion they did something more dangerous. Better known as Rescuers, they were Beckton citizen’s that did not agree with what was going on. There was one man in particular that had taken in over 30 Cappadocian’s. He said that he just couldn’t say no to them when they came to his doorstep begging for help. He went on to state that he did not consider himself a rescuer. He simply did what he had to do. He hid these people in a secret basement below his how that was built years prior for a time such as this. His family was unaware of what was going on for the entire war. After the Cappadocian Genocide was over the news of the rescuers still was very slim. These people didn’t want anyone to know. If anyone was to find out after the war their family would either be shunned or killed. It was only recently that theses rescuers would tell their families what they did on their death
