Cloud computing is a sharing computing resources instead of having local servers or personal devices to handle web based applications. Basically, cloud computing uses cloud services by taking an organizations firewall in shared resources. These services are delivered and paid by the cloud user this is commonly known “As needed, pay per use” business model. Cloud computing systems provides virtualized resources to the web based applications on demand basics. These resources are delivered by Virtual Machines(VMs). The development models have many problems such as time and cost efficiency.

Cloud Computing is an on demand, flexible and cost friendly delivery platform that has provided IT consumers and organizations services such as networks, storage, servers and applications over the Internet. Its importance is increasing as a large number of industrial and technological communities are rapidly adopting it.

Cloud computing also known as on demand computing is an internet based computing service. Rather than having your files and applications stored on your computer, you store them at a different location over the internet. Computer technology is moving very fast. Only few years ago, computers were very expensive and had very low hard disk drive space. People used to save their files on floppy disks, zip drives, etc. Today. Computing is being sent to the cloud. The faster internet connections have become, the more applications and storages have moved to the Cloud and out of internal servers and PCs. Cloud users need not know how the resources are managed. Hence they can concentrate on the business functionality of the service rather than the underlying functionality involved in the management of the resources. Cloud computing is the growing method of computing adopted by many organizations nowadays around the world. The word ‘cloud’ refers to the network, the servers providing the cloud services can be located anywhere in the world (Garg & Buyya, 2012). The services are provided through internet and made available to the end users. Several definitions are given for the cloud computing in the literature. According to (Mell & Grance, 2011), “Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. This Cloud model promotes availability and is composed of five essential characteristics, three service models, and four deployment models.” Different advantages of having cloud computing includes, services are available on demand, the users have to pay only as per the use and the services are accessible from anywhere as it is available over network. There are different service models and deployment models available for cloud computing.

Cloud computing is storing and accessing data and programing over the Internet instead have on your computers hard drive. This makes everything physically close to you, which makes data access fast and easy without carrying around an usb. Although, the computer industry has operated under a local storage system for decades some still favor the old way because the cloud doesn’t have dedicated network attached storage hardware in residence. For it to be cloud computing you need to have access to your data or your programs over the Internet and synch it along with other information over the Web.

Abstract. Cloud computing is the upcoming generation of computation. Internet based computing is known as cloud computing, where software and hardware resources provided to the user on demand. Cloud computing is new paradigm that uses dynamically scalable shared resources e.g. networks, servers, storage, applications and services. It provides different cloud services through which resources can be swiftly providing and released with minimum management efforts. In this paper, we aim to pinpoint the types of cloud, services and difference that shows how effective cloud computing from other paradigm (Grid computing, Utility computing and Mainframe). Last, we will provide an overview on the various challenges and risk associated to cloud computing that deserves future research.
