Cloud computing is becoming very popular amongst private users as well as business sectors due to its benefits of availability, time saving and cheaper. However, one of the biggest factors which hold back the users is Security and Reliability of the data. The report briefly describes cloud computing, its characteristics, and its three major categories. It discusses about the reliability of data in cloud computing. The report also discusses about the NoSQL database of the Cloud Service Provider giants like Google, Amazon, and Apache and how they ensure reliability of the data in their services. Finally, the report discusses about the data security in the cloud computing infrastructure. It throws light on the security of data at various levels like Network Transport Security, Data Storage Security, and Data Management Security. Introduction Cloud computing can be defined as a model for enabling pervasive, convenient, on-demand network access provided to users to provide a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Networks, Storage, services, and applications make a part of these network sources. (Mell & Grance, 2011). In general terms, cloud computing can be stated as the process by which the users with the help of a web browser over the internet can remotely access data and program applications. A few characteristics of cloud computing are: A customer can consume the cloud computing resources from a service provider without any human involvement. A consumer can
Cloud computing is a sharing computing resources instead of having local servers or personal devices to handle web based applications. Basically, cloud computing uses cloud services by taking an organizations firewall in shared resources. These services are delivered and paid by the cloud user this is commonly known “As needed, pay per use” business model. Cloud computing systems provides virtualized resources to the web based applications on demand basics. These resources are delivered by Virtual Machines(VMs). The development models have many problems such as time and cost efficiency.
Cloud Computing is an on demand, flexible and cost friendly delivery platform that has provided IT consumers and organizations services such as networks, storage, servers and applications over the Internet. Its importance is increasing as a large number of industrial and technological communities are rapidly adopting it.
Cloud computing also known as on demand computing is an internet based computing service. Rather than having your files and applications stored on your computer, you store them at a different location over the internet. Computer technology is moving very fast. Only few years ago, computers were very expensive and had very low hard disk drive space. People used to save their files on floppy disks, zip drives, etc. Today. Computing is being sent to the cloud. The faster internet connections have become, the more applications and storages have moved to the Cloud and out of internal servers and PCs. Such a move to cloud was not possible until now, because the internet broadband connectivity did not exist and now such existence makes cloud computing a true possibility for not only
Cloud computing refers to an internet based computing technology where shared servers provide infrastructure, software and various other resource to customers on a “pay-as-use” basis. Cloud users need not know how the resources are managed. Hence they can concentrate on the business functionality of the service rather than the underlying functionality involved in the management of the resources. These customers do not own the physical infrastructure, but rent these resources from a third-party agency. This concept is widely utilised by the industry, government and in the educational sector due to the ability to provide robust, resilient and scalable computing power. The resources are provisioned to the user based on determining the required computing resources by the customer.
Today the use of iPhones, iPads, Tablets, laptops and computers are affordable and readily available systems that have the ability to keep data and real-time communications easily assessable from anywhere at any time. Hence, cloud computing is a term that many Internet Service Providers (ISP) providers are using to sell their products. To clarify the terminology many providers use begins with an understanding of the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure in the business environments.
Cloud Computing is a form of computing in which all applications, information and resources are managed in a virtual environment. The term cloud computing, specifically the use of the word "cloud", it meant to represent the nature and structure of cloud computing. Cloud computing involves virtual hosted environments allowing users to connect to the services being hosted over the internet.
Several years after the emergence of cloud computing, most of people still confuse with its concept because different research institutes defined the term differently. With the development of cloud computing, its concept evolves gradually in years. According to the Wikipedia, the most recent definition of cloud computing is “the delivery of services of the computing a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility over a network (typically the Internet).” Cloud computing, in one word, was termed as the many different types of virtualized applications and services that are moved into the “cloud” – a metaphor for the internet. Cloud computing providers maintain and control physical servers, and data is processed in the “cloud” provider’s environment which also delivers hosted services. For the user, the entire computing infrastructures virtually reside “in the cloud.” In many cases, devices that used to access these services and
Over the past several years, cloud computing has been getting attention as a new computing model for providing flexible and on-demand infrastructures, platforms, and software as services. Cloud computing is a technology through exchange of information and software management. Cloud computing allows users to use computer technology without the installation in their computers. It allows users to access their files or data from any computer having an internet connection. Cloud computing provides more efficient computing by centralizing data storage, processing and bandwidth. This technology emphases on virtualization of the host server or the controlling computer. The server acts as a communication network through which information could be shared. The information can be stored, retrieved and shared as and when required through a widespread global platform.
We’ve all heard about this new phenomenon called cloud computing, but what exactly is cloud computing? Is it computation by a magic cloud instead of computers or humans? No, cloud computing is a popular term coined by the technology industry as storing, accessing, and computing data and programs over the internet instead of locally by your computer. Essentially, this so called cloud represents the Internet, and like real life clouds, it can’t be physically touched; rather, we know that it exists, it’s purpose, and it is quantifiable, but we can’t hold it in hands. Like weather clouds, cloud computing can be very powerful and a game changer that affect everyone. We will be discussing the impact of cloud computing, advantages and
Cloud computing is the growing method of computing adopted by many organizations nowadays around the world. The word ‘cloud’ refers to the network, the servers providing the cloud services can be located anywhere in the world (Garg & Buyya, 2012). The services are provided through internet and made available to the end users. Several definitions are given for the cloud computing in the literature. According to (Mell & Grance, 2011), “Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. This Cloud model promotes availability and is composed of five essential characteristics, three service models, and four deployment models.” Different advantages of having cloud computing includes, services are available on demand, the users have to pay only as per the use and the services are accessible from anywhere as it is available over network. There are different service models and deployment models available for cloud computing.
The definition of “Cloud”, also called cloud computing, is an Internet-based computing that storing, accessing and processing data, resources, and programs on a free or pay-for-use basis to computers and other devices. Late in 1990s, the term “Cloud” was used to present shared resources and data over the Internet between the provider and the end user.
Cloud computing, as defined by wikipedia, creates a virtual computer, which is anonymous and is networked to a series of servers across the globe, known as the “cloud”. The “cloud” harnesses underutilized processing power of all computers in a network, to create supercomputing power . By connecting networks of large groups of servers, that run low cost consumer PC technology, a shared IT infrastructure (the “cloud”) is created. Thus rather than storing applications, databases, emails and file services on a personal computer or server, a business or an individual can store in the “cloud”. In cloud computing the user rents server space or access to software from a cloud service provider and connects over the internet. There are four models of cloud computing. Firstly, a private cloud where services and infrastructure are maintained and managed by the customer/user. Secondly, a community cloud whereby several organisations share access to a private cloud. Thirdly, a public cloud where services are stored off site and accessed over the internet. The storage is managed by an external organisation like Google or Microsoft. Finally, the hybrid cloud which uses both private and public cloud models. Cloud services include SaaS (software as a service) where the vendor uses the web to deliver applications; cloud platform services (PaaS) to develop or customise cloud components of software; cloud infrastructure services (Iaas) which are self serve models for managing remote data
Cloud computing is storing and accessing data and programing over the Internet instead have on your computers hard drive. This makes everything physically close to you, which makes data access fast and easy without carrying around an usb. Although, the computer industry has operated under a local storage system for decades some still favor the old way because the cloud doesn’t have dedicated network attached storage hardware in residence. For it to be cloud computing you need to have access to your data or your programs over the Internet and synch it along with other information over the Web.
Abstract. Cloud computing is the upcoming generation of computation. Internet based computing is known as cloud computing, where software and hardware resources provided to the user on demand. Cloud computing is new paradigm that uses dynamically scalable shared resources e.g. networks, servers, storage, applications and services. It provides different cloud services through which resources can be swiftly providing and released with minimum management efforts. In this paper, we aim to pinpoint the types of cloud, services and difference that shows how effective cloud computing from other paradigm (Grid computing, Utility computing and Mainframe). Last, we will provide an overview on the various challenges and risk associated to cloud computing that deserves future research.
The National Information Standards and Technologies defines Cloud as “A model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.” (Howell 33).
