2.0 Introduction
The word ethic itself is defined as a set of moral values and the system of moral principles that have been used to interact and communicate between one individual to the group of people, community or association. When it comes to codes of engineering ethics, we must know that this is a set of moral principles that need to be applied in the profession as engineers. In other words, engineering ethics bring the meaning as a set of law and specific rules for the engineer to be follow in their job profession scope and applied in working environment.

Engineers shall act for each employer or client as faithful agents or trustees. In terms of this ethic, engineers need to be faith to the clients or company they are worked with. They should not receive any financial or compensation from other party for the same services for the same project except with the agreement of all the interested parties.
II - American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Here, ASME code of engineering ethics is having almost the same content as NSPE as both of them using the same theme in practicing the work profession. It can also be noted that ASME code includes seven provisions under the Fundamental Principles that have the nearly same content with the NSPE Fundamental Canons.
Engineers uphold and advance the integrity, honour, and dignity of the engineering profession.
i. Engineers need to use all of necessary skills and knowledge to apply to increase the human welfare. ii. They need to be honest and truthfully working, contributing to the community and serving for their clients and employers. iii. Making use to increase the competence of engineering profession and job.

The most common engineering ethics will be by various professional societies like American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and etc. These engineering ethics have only several differences but all are using the same theme except for the IEEE code of ethics.
It is important to know that the big companies out there or huge organization may have their own engineering code of ethics with the same objectives as to increase the integrity and quality of the work profession for each of the engineers and have their specific guidance in their work scope.
Noted that, this set of engineering ethics is very important and crucial for all the engineers to follow as it give a complete guidance and law for engineering profession job. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, first introduced virtue ethics as a method to describe how a good person should act. As such, virtues play a major role in every profession including engineering. Virtuous engineers make better decisions throughout the design and analysis of any component, item, or system. This paper begins with a description of Aristotelian virtue ethics followed by a discussion on the virtues I have gained while at Texas A&M University, virtues needed as a mechanical engineer, and methods of expanding these virtues.
Ethics are of a special importance to practicing professionals. Professions such as lawyers, teachers, doctors and engineers have a bigger responsibility as to making sure there jobs are done right and ethically. Though in order to achieve this goal individuals must understand what ethics really means. Ethics is basically the rules of conduct which is recognized in respect to a particular group, culture, or class of human actions. The decision to behave ethically is a moral one.
The competency codes of ethics in ACS and Clients and Employer codes of ethics in IEEE/ACM is the same as Software engineers shall act in a manner that is in the best interests of their client and employer consistent with the public interest.
Ethics is a branch of philosophy that involves the study of good and bad, of right and wrong. It includes theories such as relativism and universalism. Virtue, Categorical Imperative, and the principle of utility are three ethical standards. Environmental ethics is the application of ethical standards to relationships between humans and nonhuman entities.
Careful analysis of the corporate code of ethics, applicable laws, and Scripture provided clear solutions for managers to take to avoid these incidents. First, provide employees the code of ethics, train them to follow the codes, supervise the work of the engineers, and immediately correct violations. Second, take similar steps regarding the knowledge and application of law. Third, Christians must conduct themselves within the construct of God’s Word and these principles should provide an example for others to follow.
This paper will explore the perspectives of five engineers who use their skills in different fields to assess their views of the link between ethics and technology as well as determining how to place blame.
First adopted in 1914, the code of ethics for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the model for professional conduct for all ASCE members. The code of ethics is an excellent model as it is broken down into eight canons for further understanding. The purpose of each canon is to serve as a guide and reminder for professional engineers that they are to have the moral and ethical integrity the profession calls for at all times while holding safety paramount. The ASCE code of ethics is very informative and insightful because although each canon does not go into great depth, the canons leave room for interpretation under different situations.
When working in an organization, it is usually important to establish professional ethics while following consistent ethical principles. Professional ethics are personal and corporate standards of behavior that are set by businesses, associations, and organization. It creates an institution that reflects our own values and make us feel more confident about what is an acceptable behavior and what is not. This type of ethic could vary depending on the various types of situations, professions, and personal values. Many professionals that are trusted by the public like doctors, accountants, engineers and even an information technologist all have a Code of Ethics, which sets out expectations of the member’s behavior and how they operate internally and externally.
The Code and Standards where first created in the 1960s and have been updated regularly since then. The Code of Ethics is an ethical benchmark for investment professionals around the world. The standards have generally been adopted regardless of job function, cultural differences and various laws that differ from country to country. As a CFA member, you are obligated to adhere to the code and its ethical standards.
When talking about engineering, people would probably have pictures in their mind of engineers using machines producing parts, drawing and sketching designs, or even doing some mathematical calculations. A more general answer to what engineers actually do would be that they solve social problems through the use of machines, devices, systems, materials and processes. They are all absolutely correct. But in reality, both the job and the role of an engineer are more complicated. They do not only have to work with machines and designs. Engineers are often involved in communications and negotiations. They have to work with different people and the responsibility that they have is massive. Important decisions are made by them and they have to use their own judgement. And very often, ethical considerations are already built into the decisions they make. In order to make the best decisions, they have to be understood in the context of their role in society and, moreover, they need to develop good ethical awareness and be able to deal with the dilemmas that they have to face every day.
Ethics is the moral behavior that guides our actions; it motivates us in our personal behavior and is relevant in a business setting as well. Many organizations have set forth a set of guidelines known as a “Code of Ethics”. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, being one of these organizations, has set forth their code as a requirement for students and engineer members to adhere to. Heading towards a career in electrical engineering I choose this organization to elaborate on for my ethics project.

Ethics are essential to the architecture of a modern dynamic society and play a vital part in engineering or any other businesses. Ethics provide guidance to humans to pursue a course of action correctively in specific situations, and prevent us from the ones that would have negative or drastic consequences. Ethics clarifies what is good and bad on the basis of moral principle or values. Regardless of which particular field the engineer is in (e.g. civil, electrical or mechanical), their main liability and responsibility are to ensure the health, safety, and general welfare of the public are protected to the highest level possible. Since almost the work done by engineers can have great impact on almost all aspects of our daily life, any design schemes or implementations that are made by engineers must meet the highest standard to ensure that no damages or potential damages to any resource, people, organization or environment will exist.
