Some of the child laborers do small jobs like polishing shoes, stocking shelves of stores, or cleaning. But some of the child laborers are used in the informal sector such as street hustling, or selling stuff on the streets, working at farms or in the agri-business, or as domestic servants. This kind of laboring is done illegally by hiding away from the inspectors that look for child labor violators. When their work do not affect their “health and personal development or interfere with their schooling,” they do not fit the negative notion of child labor (ILO, 1996). Children sometimes assist their parents with housework and take a part in building family businesses without their working hours affecting primary education. This is indeed a beneficial experience for children, because they learn to be productive within their communities. On the other hand, ILO (1996) applies the term child labor when work “is mentally, physically, socially or morally dangerous and harmful to children; and interferes with their schooling by; depriving them of the opportunity to attend school; obliging them to leave school prematurely; or requiring them to attempt to combine school attendance with excessively long and heavy work.” When child labor is engaged in enslavement, separation from families, and misplacement of children on the streets, ILO experts refer to it as the most extreme forms of child
Child labour is a very real problem in the world today, and although it is declining, progress is happening at a slow and unequal pace. Child labour by the International Labour Organization is defined as “work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development (Diallo, Etienne, & Mehran, 2013, p. 2).” In the most extreme forms of child labour it could account for child enslavement, separation from their families, exposure to serious hazards and illnesses and being left to fend for themselves on the streets (Dinopoulos & Zhao, 2007). In order for certain types of work to be included as “child labour” depends on the child’s age, the type of work,
“The International Labor Organization estimates that at least 250 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are working, mostly in the developing world.” Many Americans view child labor as wrong or dangerous, but they do not realize how essential child labor can be in developing countries. In the article “Regulated Child Labor Is Necessary in Developing Countries,” by John Tierney, a current author for the New York Times, focuses on child labor and why it is essential in some developing countries. Taking jobs away from child laborers is an unsuccessful way to make their lives better because this solution leaves them without money to buy food and other essentials. If child labor regulations were put into place, children would be treated appropriately in addition to being able afford necessities to survive. There are only specific jobs that children should be able to fill. Jobs involving machinery made for adults should not be used by children since it causes a safety hazard. Employers must be given restrictions when dealing with workers’ punishments. A maximum set of hours per that children should be allowed to work should be set in place, as well a minimum age of employment. Additionally, A decent minimum wage needs to be approved. Completely abolishing child labor can cause more damage than benefits, which is why regulations on child labor is a more suitable and superior

Some children will work in very harsh conditions which could include drug trafficking, prostitution and sometimes in some countries the young children will work in types of military position for their country. A lot of children work in many types of commercial business if they can. You would never believe what these children work in and it is not safe at all for the these children to be working in it, cause it is not safe for adults sometimes also. What’s not safe for adults should not be safe for children you would think? A lot of the work that these children work in are extremely hazardous and the children that will work in these conditions come from extremely poor families and they may also live in a low economic state also. Sometimes these children will work with either no pay at all for their hard work or just little pay for the jobs that they complete. This source provides examples of the harsh conditions and treatments that children worked through such as working for 12-14 hours with minimal breaks and being “weighted.” This source contains a great number of charts and images that support the argument in my paper. This source also provides quotes from the children who worked in factories.
Child Labor is not an isolated problem. The phenomenon of child labor is an effect of economic discrimination. I’m going to write about child labor because in my opinion every child has the right to a childhood free of hard labor. In addition I think it’s a considerable issue that most countries discuss until these days as child labor is one of the many different types of child abuse. What I’m going to investigate and to concern about is to search about child labor law, what is their rights while working and see what the reasons to work in early age. Large numbers of children work in commercial agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, mining, and domestic service. Millions of children are involved in work that, under any circumstance, is considered unacceptable for children.

The two most common forms of children in factories were “Parish apprentice children,” and “free labor children.”
