The Differences Of George Washington And His Men During The American Revolution

Regarded as one of the most beloved figures in American history, George Washington maintains an almost godlike image in the minds of many. Despite his reputation as a leader, Washington was not always flawless in his military exploits. His time in the French and Indian War granted him the experiences and skills needed to be effective as commander of the Continental Army, and not all of these experiences included victories. It was the knowledge Washington gained in the French and Indian War, and the war itself, that helped the colonies to obtain their independence from Great Britain.

During the time of the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson had many differences relating to their education and occupations. While George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were wealthy enough to receive a formal education, Benjamin Franklin did not have this privilege, and was self-taught. Despite these differences, the men shared many of the same political beliefs and they were able to unite together as delegates of the continental congress, which influenced them to become the Founding Fathers of the United States.

Both Napoléon Bonaparte and George Washington are viewed as influential leaders for their respective countries. They lived about thirty years apart, were in different continents but had some similar situations that helped them rise to power. They both were great leaders and still leave their mark on history. Most people agree that while Washington was a better man, Napoléon was a better leader in and his rise to power, strategy, and being supported by the people.

The American Revolution was a great time of change for America as a nation. With this change new heroes and ideals of life, liberty, and freedom were formed. Spearheading these new ideals was General George Washington and his continental army, but the road ahead of Washington and his men was not an unproblematic one. The winter at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania proved this to Washington and his men. Yet the true American ideal of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were never forgotten in their battle.

There was a strong storm it was raining and snowing and terrifying wind. One soldier recorded that “ it blew a perfect hurricane” as snow and sleet lasked washington army. He was attacking the british. They had to march many miles through the dark and snow to even reach the river crossing sit.(“Leutze,Washington Crossing the Delaware”).

Have you ever wondered how our country got started or who our first president was? Our first president was George Washington and he was an important part of the start of our country. By examining the life of George Washington and his role in the war and the effects he had in the war it is clear that he had a big and important role in the beginning of our country and how it is now.

On a stormy December night in 1776 general George Washington and his men braved the cold and crossed the Delaware River to attack unsuspecting British soldiers. This bold move helped to turn the tides of the American Revolution and proved to be one of the most important American victories of the war. This historical battle was commemorated through a painting by German artist, Emmanuel Leutze. The painting of George Washington crossing the Delaware River properly represents the fighting spirit and resiliency of the colonial forces during the American Revolution.

There are parallels in Shulman’s poem and Leutze’s painting and I would like to point them out. First, how the water is represented in these two works are very much alike. In the painting, you can see that they are

George Washington born on February 22nd, 1732 was a man of honor and patriotism, He was a disciplined but fair general and a humble president who set the standards for his successors this is why he should be remembered. As a man he was a simple farmer who when duty called he fought for his former country britain. As a general he led soldiers with discipline and honor then returned to his home. As a president he was humble and refused to be anything like king.

Chief Diplomat is defined as a leader who oversees, creates, and executes foreign relations and policies between the United States and other countries. The two most influential “Chief Diplomats” the US has ever had were George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington thrusted into the presidency by unanimous vote of the electoral college. Throughout his presidency, George Washington developed the country further than any president who would follow did. Washington was able to defend the homeland and support the United State’s foreign relations through his passing of the Neutrality Proclamation, Jay’s Treaty, and the Treaty of Tripoli. Many historians would argue that Thomas Jefferson made strides in advancing the nation much further through his accomplishment of acquiring the Louisiana Territory. Although neither president perfectly accomplished all goals they set out to complete, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson single-handedly accomplished, shaped, and developed the nation through treaties and foreign relations far more than any other pair of presidents during their terms as president.

George Washington, a legend in his own time, stood as symbol for national unity before there was ever a nation. George Washington was directly associated with every major event of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress, and the building of the new republic. Even the country's new capitol bore his name. So it was a moment of great import when Washington wrote a letter to the American public, announcing his retirement from public life.

By 1755, Colonists hatred toward england had transformed into a longing for insubordination. A blend of political, conciliatory, and military focal points at last prompted the united states triumph over the english in the progressive war. The triumph was accomplished by the normal objective of the loyalists to pick up freedom and the initiative of george washington. Carefully, france helped the triumph after the united states won its trust with triumph in the clash of saratoga. George Washington's military mastery furthermore attempt at manslaughter guerrilla style strategies lead to the triumph over the english.

Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson were all stronger president. These presidents were all very strong and lead the country through hard times. I belive George Washington was the stornger president of the three canadites because he was a strong military leader and he set the standards for all of the other presidents. President Washington really set the bar for all of the future presidents.

What are the differences in the causes? For the american revolution the main goal was freedom. They left England and left to colonize North America.

The poem also emphasized the conditions much more while the painting emphasizes the event that is happening. “How cold! Weather stings as in anger.” is an example from the poem where you can see it describing the conditions (Shulman lines 3-4). The painting gives you all of the details where when looking at the poem, there is imagery used so you can imagine what the visual may look like.
