Introduction
Without a doubt, English language has become the most prominent international language in the world. English is a tool to communicate whether orally or in writing to understand and express thoughts and ideas.
The four language skills, speaking, listening, reading, and writing are important and necessary for learning the language. But, writing is the most challenging. When it comes to the teaching and learning of language skills, writing does not pay much attention. While, its importance
The author, in this article, shows the results from conversations in writing. The results indicate that most students “spend a lot of time writing”, for various purposes. Also, the author introduces a report by professional organizations, which states that writing is
I immensely struggled when writing. Taking my scrambled thoughts and uncoordinated analysis and converting it into clean and understandable words on a page was arduous. I could not express my thoughts in proper academic format. I understood the importance of writing to every subject. It was essential that I learn to condense my ideas and feeling into coherent written word. After much debate, I decided that the best way to improve my writing skills was to take an advanced English course.
Writing Is a kind of typing symbols, letters and other writing tools to help the writer communicate with the reader or connect his ideas. It is the fourth skill in language skills and the most one that needs creation and imagination. In this essay, I am going to write about the importance of developing writing.
Writing is an essential tool and has been noted as a precursor for great speaking by teachers at all grade levels. However, with writing being an important aspect throughout one’s academic career and beyond, it is one of the most tedious tasks to teach. It sounds like a cliché, but in order to get better at something, one has to keep completing the task and each time, accomplish something different while maintaining prior knowledge. There are various ways that enhance a student’s writing abilities and the focus of these research strategies will prove that encouraging students to write enhances writing.
In order to provide students with the best education and future possible, writing in schools needs to be focused on more in depth. Everyone needs to have a basic understanding of grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and other writing aspects. This is so they can communicate correctly when they get a job in the future and be confident in their writing and communication skills. If someone is not comfortable speaking and/or writing to communicate with others, they are not going to be willing to go out of their comfort zone when they have to communicate with others. With this being said, teachers and schools need to take larger steps to ensure that their students are receiving the proper writing skills needed to be successful in the near future.
In today’s workforce, jobs are heavily based upon the skills that one has and how well one can perform them in their field of study. A major component skill that lacks in many young people today is writing. Writing plays is an important role in life, one needs it to communicate with other people. If young people are not taught this in their years of schooling and do not learn to master it, consequently they will come out on the bottom with poor writing skills. Which in
English is a hard language to learn, for there are numerous elements of effective usage and writing. Many people, including me, struggle in writing because of a lack of knowledge. Since middle school, English was not a strong suit of mine. I struggled with the simplest of tasks often taking a considerably longer time to complete a task than the other students. Unmotivated teachers and a lack of interest resulted in remedial writing skills. To put it simply, I had little confidence in my writing and I dreaded taking the class because of the writing involved. In spite of my fears, I took the course and I was able to perfect and challenge my mediocre writing skills.
With the winter semester ending, I have been reflecting about my writing English 101 class. In this Semester I studied and learned to write professionally after performing many tasks and assignments. Through basic writing errors, analytical moves, developing paragraphs, introduction and conclusion, I was able to learn to write correctly and even different from what I had written before. For example, in the old days I used to make a sentence by typing: I see it, or I say so, but now I can write without repeating the word I.
Writing and reading are the two major components not only in any English course, but also in every other course such as Sociology. Thus, gaining more skills and improving on writing and reading outcomes is necessary for every student. By taking English courses, I am consistently gaining new skills and making improvements in the writing and reading outcomes. Like every other English courses, I have made some significant improvements and gained some crucial skills on writing and reading outcomes in the English 3010 course. In English 3010 course, writing and reading outcomes were related to each other in every assignment. For example,
It is used as an organisational tool, mode of communication, transferring information to another, a prompt for thinking and, to reinforce relationships (Cremin & Myhill, 2012). An example would be making a list of things to do in a piece of paper to be reminded of tasks and duties. Curriculum and policy documentation of writing may not always sharpen the child's writing skills. It can help as a guideline but writers are developed through writing and reflecting on their writing experiences (Cremin & Myhill, 2012). Completing writing exercises and implementing reading journals can improve an individual’s writing skills. Writing is a participation to set a specific social practise. It is then shaped by social and historical understanding about what writing is, what form it takes and what it is good for in specific contexts (Cremin & Myhill, 2012). For example, Arabians has their own form of language which is in Arabic symbols instead of letters like the English language. Language can symbolise an individual. Educators should inspire their students to learn a different language other than their native language. The twenty-first century’s technology has helped the way language has
Writing, I mean the process that we implant our ideas in; use certain skills to arrange them in a pursuable way and of course polish the words with our heart, differs from what I learned under a circumstance of passing a class or getting a good grade in a language test. I am not born in a circumstance that widely use English, and writing to me is a subject that I need to pass my English classes. I do not like to write things with limited topics and selected materials because that is lame and it does not involve many personal interests in it, I like to write things that can deliver my ideas and thoughts with materials that I interested in. I am not a good writer as I lack of understandings of English itself, I cannot find suitable words that
English is such a crucial learning point in our children’s lives, as no matter what career choice students’ take being able to write efficiently and professionally will be important in improving their life. It opens more opportunities for students to further not only their future professional lives, but their personal lives as well. I am very passionate about English and all that entails. I want to instill the importance of not only correct grammar and sentence structure, but also introduce the
Writing is an important skill for all students if they are to become successful in school and in the work place. Student writing skills are known to be a gateway for college success as well as employment and promotion in the workplace (Graham 2008). Data has shown that students at the Nebo School District, in grades 5 and 8 are functioning at or below the average level for writing when compared with
There are nearly 7000 languages spoken in the world. Among them is the English language. Richard Lederer, a retired high school teacher chose this language to be the subject of his essay “English is a Crazy Language.” In the essay, Lederer describes English with respects to who uses it, when it is used and how it is used. They justify his claim that English is the most widely spoken language in the world.
Writing is one of the four basic skills to be taught for the students. It is a way for students to express their idea and opinion. The important of writing can be seen in daily activities when they need to write short texts such as memos, invitation letters, sympathy notes, brochure, article, business letters, applications letter and many others. Through writing students can transfer their experiences and knowledge to others. So, they should be able to produce sentences and develop it into paragraphs and essays. It is active thinking process of the students to plan, arrange and express idea in order the text could be understood by the readers. A good writing helps avoid misunderstanding between the writer’s idea and the reader’s opinion.
