The Effects Of Animal Cruelty On The Workplace

Many people do not report cases of animal cruelty. Reports of animal cruelty are less common than crimes against people. This is because the cases do not go through state agencies. The animals that come to mind when someone mentions animal cruelty is often Dogs and cats. These animals do have a higher percent rate, with dogs at 70.1%, cats at 20.9% and all other animals at 24.1%. The percent’s come from cases that people report. If people were to fill all cases of animal cruelty, the rates would be much more different. A common form of negligence is people taking their animal to a place far from home to just leave them there. Animal control pick up these animals everyday and send them to shelter. For the most part the animals have a healthy portion of food and they have shelter from the environment. Most shelters are kill shelters. No-Kill shelters become less common to their counterpart. Animals not adopted within a certain period of time undergo euthanasia. This keeps room for more animals. No-kill shelters protect the animals and help rehabilitate them. The other 24.1% is the factory animals. The purpose of a factory animal's life is a food source. So the owners mistreat their animals because the animals purpose is to be a food source. It is almost as if they do not matter. They deserve animal rights just as much as the other animals do.

This story Animal Farm by George Orwell is a novel about an animal revolution over an oppressive farmer. The irony in the story comes when the pigs turn into the very thing revolted against. They exhibit the same cruelty by treating the other animals the same or even worse than previous owners. This cycle of cruelty is shown in the Russian revolution by Joseph Stalin who is represented by Napoleon in the story. Cruelty in animal farm is shown by the human’s treatment of the animals, and the animal’s eventual treatment of each other and the ironic characteristics of the two.

Hunting is not a form of animal cruelty because its serves a purpose to the population of certain animals. Animal cruelty is when people force pain on animals which lead them to suffer a slow agonizing death. This is a large moral issue today that just keeps growing into a nationwide problem. For instance, morally humans believe it is okay to harm non-domesticated animals rather than domesticated animals such as our pets. Domesticated animals and non-domesticated animals still have behavioral instincts. A domesticated dog will attack if threatened and a non-domesticated wolf would do the same. Thinking of ourselves as the dominate species is untrue in the state that animals kill other animals for food, just as we as hunters do and anyone who eats animal products. Many will ask what the differences are between hunting, poaching, and true animal cruelty.

“This is horrible! I can’t even watch this!” Those were my immediate thoughts the first time my eyes were opened to the inhumane animal cruelty on factory farms. Factory farming enables mass production to supply the demands of today’s society but also enables the cruel treatment of animals. Being an Animal Cruelty Investigator has been something that has interested me for a long time since I came across the show “Animal Cops.” I know a few things about this career. First, I know that it can be at times a very dangerous job not just because of the mistreated animals, but because of the crazy people too. From encountering an abused animal that only knows a life of punishment and horrible training they can be skittish and scared causing them to lash out at any point. The humans on the other hand who have hurt these animals are bad people and deserve time in jail, which they can't accept causing them to also lash out at any point just like the animals may. The issues regarding animal cruelty are important because it concerns fundamental moral and economic questions in respect to the way animals are treated, before being brutally slaughtered and consumed by americans daily. The topic of animal cruelty raises multiple differing arguments, many concerning religion and a person's geological location in the world. By considering the arguments made by people who believe animal cruelty to be morally acceptable, and researching the verified practices taking place in factory farms today it will be clear that in the United States, factory farming is a cruel and unnecessary practice.

One case of animal abuse in the U.S. food industry is the Central Valley Meat Co, located in Hanford, California. Employees at the Hanford Slaughterhouse were caught on video killing cows violently and inhumanely, neglecting to render cows unconscious before slaughter, and other forms of abuse. Kenny is a worker that works in the slaughterhouse who had gone through a lot of injuries that he can’t report. Workers are unable to report their injuries to a supervisor. In this paper I will bring to you information that customers are unaware of that happens within the Factory Farming business. What is the situation these farms and will it make you think twice? We do not understand the health and wellness of these animals and how they are treated is beyond belief. Health and wellness could be in jeopardy from some of these animals we consume. The populace would be shocked to know these types of farms exist as how they get away with such conditions. Cruelty to animals exists but consumers may not aware as they making their selection of meat at the local market. There should be better living conditions and treatment of these animals.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable yet not talked about. Most Americans do not recognize this link between our compassion and the animals we eat and the hypocrisy that surrounds it. In this essay I address the compassion humans posses and how it is being wiped out through eating meat and dairy.
