We believe that Bailos should take over Earth due to its human nature because the humans choose how they want to be, either good or evil nature based on education, family, and their interactions. Through our journey back down to Balios, we have found that human nature is neither good nor evil like Kao Tzu explained. Human beings have higher education standards which starts at a young age and can possibly go forever. They have so called "leaders" that they named teachers. These teachers help motivate humans to achieve good things as much as possible but at the same time, it is the humans responsibility to choose which path to go on. While we are on our journey, we noticed that the teachers were good, strong leaders to the young ones and that some of the students grew up to be good instead of evil. Teachers have a huge impact on these children 's lives because they are with them most of the day and act as a role model to them. As Kao said," Shaping human nature into Humanity and Duty is like shaping willow wood into cups and bowls,"(page 79 of Reading The World.) this quote responds very elegantly to this example of human nature because teachers help shape these kids life together and humans are inborn with good and some with evil. Some humans had different beliefs on the education views. Some of these humans have to be at the top of all the others in their class while others did not care what they did and was just there because they had to be. Some worked very
Moral panic is “a condition, episode, person or group of persons emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests and its nature is presented in a stylized and stereotypical fashion by the mass media; the moral barricades are manned by editors, bishops, politicians and other right-thinking people; socially accredited experts pronounce their diagnoses and solutions; ways of coping are evolved or resorted to; the condition then disappears, submerges or deteriorates and becomes more visible” (Cohen, 1973, p.9). This means moral panic is an exaggeration or distortion of some perceived deviant behaviour by the media. In contemporary context, moral panics are not just one-off events, “it is their reappearance that confirms their status as moral disturbances of any significant order” (Marsh and Melville, 2011, p.7). Basically moral panics are social issues that relate to real fears about a particular behaviour such as paedophilia due to the exaggeration of media influence.
The way the human mind operates is a mystery to all. Through thinking that the mind is something that can be comprehended humans have created the art of psychology and psychiatry, where the inner machinations of one’s mind are turned into nothing more than phrases and terms. Between every person there lies a sense of morality, no matter who. The sense of morality is not the same though, as children we learn to feel pain and suffering as others do, and to put the shoes of others on. In the end, it seems, that almost all people brought up well as children, turn out to be the people considered to have a strong sense of morality and can feel what pains some must endure. Though the way being brought up does not define a
Mark Rose once said in the essay I Just Wanna Be Average, “Students will float to the mark you set.” This quotation means that in order for students to succeed in there academics they need a teacher who will demonstrate to the students that they believe and have faith they will succeed in there class. In order for many students to reach there potential the teacher needs to be supporting and willing to take the time to help there students and give the encouragement they need to succeed. Students are all at different levels so some will “float to the mark” at a faster pace than others, but some will be lazy, and others will drown. Throughout my life education has pushed me to succeed in my future, and has motivated me and many students through the education system.
Winston Churchill notes that students are living purposeless lives because the education they receive does not inspire them to chase change and seize opportunities. He states that in order for education to succeed students should be encouraged to pursue a craft and contribute to society before their education starts. This idea comes from the experiences that he had as a child, while Churchill reflects fondly on his early childhood the same is not to be said for his time in primary education. From his own experience he
Furthermore, it is also been questioned that how can educated men criticize and undervalue those who have been a victim of poverty or harsh upbringing which has affected their education when it is truly not their fault. Furthermore critics have argued on how it can be determined that kings and philosophers are not ruling in their self interest and in which way their power should be tested.
For example, my very intelligent child had been labeled as a “trouble maker” at a young age. He could not sit still in Kindergarten and focus on lessons. He had not yet developed these skills that were expected of him. Children are designed for movement and play. In a formal school setting, these natural impulses are stifled and pushed aside to obtain high test scores. The school system is designed to create a model student conformed to produce model citizens.
Education gives common people the means to turning dreams into reality. Education allows common people to open up their minds to various possibilities, that will arise from becoming educated. But, yet there are times where our education systems do not uphold student/learners to a high norm. Although, problems with education systems rarely occur, inadequate performance in school can be feasible if there are issues within the child’s household. Nonetheless, students who face inconsistent dilemmas, fail since they attempt to solve both problems.
He lays awake at night clutching his bedsheets in guilt, because of his want, and to want anything at all is blasphemy. Because of his intellect, his teachers ridicule him constantly. He tries to dumb himself down and squash down his natural curiosity to fit in, but he is lashed nevertheless. “It is not good to be different from our brothers, but it is evil to be superior to them.” (Rand 21) This quote reflects on the fact that is any man exhibits superior traits to that of their colleagues, they will experience a harsh degree of backlash. Because of the push for sameness, if one man is unintelligent, all others must be the
In an interview with a local elementary school teacher Elizabeth Romero, when asked the question “Why teach at the elementary level versus teacher higher up such as high school or college?” , She responded with the answer “ I believe that in this time of the kids life is the most influential. If I as a teacher can teach these kids the rights things to do and prepare them for the future than I believe that they all can do great things with their lives.” Mrs. Romero began teaching at the age back in 2004 originally teaching high school. She realized that there was only a select few who chose to excel in their studies. In her words “…some were what some would call lost causes but there were only a select few who put real efforts into their studies.” It was at that moment that
Have you ever heard the phrase it takes a village to raise a child? If you consider the lives of most children, it really does take a village to raise a child. Most children have a mom, a dad, grandparents, teachers, aunts, uncles, family, friends and more that are a part of their life and that somehow influence their lives. I personally think it is the responsibility of all adults that are in a child’s life to help them grow into a well-rounded individual. Especially a teacher.
People have ignored the importance of education in one's life nowadays. They give too much emphasis on the grade that they will get and not on the wisdom that they will obtain from it. We must realize that the grades does not exactly determine how well we have learn but it is through experience where we learn most. For example, a person learns how to love oneself more when one experience pain and suffering. A person becomes stronger when it faces different challenges in his life. Hence, experience is the basis of the level of knowledge and it is the ultimate judgment on a person's level.
In the United States of America, societal deviance changes nearly on a daily basis. Depending on the current culture, deviance is modified to make societal heroes like celebrities, political figures, and sport players look less deviant and more like role models for the public. The change in what is considered “normal” is customarily a result of society in general. By using a reference group of people, individuals tend to identify with those who are in the lime light. Then when that role model does something appalling, the public becomes desensitized to this behavior and its abnormality and becomes less distinct thus adding to the change in social deviances.
Getting an education from a school for some reason is considered the ‘key’ to success. The key to our life goals and dream jobs, but why? We are letting a letter grade determine if we are smart or unintelligent regardless of any other acquired talent. Ralph Emerson states in “The Education” text, “the power of performance is worth more than knowledge.” This quote is extremely powerful because it can relate to a child. From day one, children are taught what to think and what they ‘need’ to learn. They are being brainwashed by these schools that should be called factories. Schools kill any sense of creativity and reasoning because kids and teenagers are so overpowered with a fear of failing and letting a letter grade decide what kind of student they are. Failing throws a label on our forehead and lowers self confidence all because test scores are so highly looked upon and all that people care about. Sooner or later, we are going to all be considered robots if we continue sitting on the conveyor belt in a factory. This path is leading us in an opposite way of
The concept of human nature has been questioned numerous times throughout history. Debates on the issue have come and gone, but the underlying question still remains on the mind of societies across the globe: Are humans generally filled with an innate sense of goodness and light or are we debase creatures at heart continuously tainted with the stains of vice? Though some texts in literature would prefer to prattle on about the exclusive and rewarding wonders that being a human provides, others tend to focus on humanity’s capacity for corruption and blatant savagery. The texts Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift, and an A Satire against Reason and Mankind by Rochester are quick to showcase the corruption that plagues the English human nature while displaying society’s role in masking this corruption with a perpetuating sense of nationalism and egotism.
There is a set curriculum given to teachers that they need to follow based on what the government and the state in which they educate find essential. Teachers must also instill basic knowledge of life throughout the day to their students. These experiences, along with morals and ethical values taught to students, can be explained as the hidden curriculum. Alsubaie writes, “A hidden curriculum refers to the unspoken or implicit values, behaviors, procedures, and norms that exist in the educational setting” (125). The hidden curriculum is vital for students as the information is essential for them to succeed in their life. This curriculum is found not only in classrooms but also in the surrounding community. While in school students can also learn social norms from their peers when they spend time working together in class. A student may not remember all the academic curricula he or she learned throughout the year, but he or she will carry the values his or her teachers had with him or her. Students can learn the necessary values by viewing educators as mentors. Teachers instill high morals, ethics, and common knowledge in students through community service opportunities, collaborative learning, teachable moments, and life lessons.
