Barrel racing is one of the most unique events at a rodeo. It takes a lot of time and effort to get your horse and yourself to learn the barrel pattern and know how to correctly go around the barrels. Once you start to race you’ll never want to stop it’s probably one of the most funnest and competitive things you can do. During barrel racing there are a few things you should know that will help to a successful run. Might want to have a wonderful trainer that will always be there to help, need know the gear needed for this event, and might not know but need to regular exercises with your horse everyday.
Shows will consist of bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, steer dogging, calf roping, team roping, tie down roping, women’s breakaway roping, barrel racing and kids mutton busting.
Do you ever wonder what happens to the horses after the Kentucky Derby? Some retire peacefully after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a paycheck. Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these helpless athletes. Gallop On, a non-profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was founded to do just that.
Notoriously the most famous horse race in the world, the Kentucky Derby is also one of the most interesting economic markets. With millions of dollars flowing into this race for three-year-old thoroughbreds, this unique event is historically an indicator of economic success and growth. Thoroughbred horses are costly and unpredictable investments. The prices paid for a thoroughbred reflect the general willingness of horse owners to take risks and therefore a forecaster of the risk-taking atmosphere of the country in general.
What do you consider talent? In my opinion talent is something that someone commit’s and devotes their time to perfect. Victor Espinoza is a talented and very spiritual person. In fact, Victor is so talented that he won one of the biggest races in the horse racing industry.
First up, the unanimous win in the Harness Pony WGC was Mississippi Queen carrying Holli Hayes to the winners circle for John and Charlotte Wrather. Hayes said, “winning with Missy was a highlight in my career.” She reflected that Missy, “isn’t the easiest, so it was fulfilling to know you worked so hard and accomplished the goal intended.” Holli, your hard work paid off! Rich, Maureen, and Holli credit the Wrathers’ for letting them take the time needed to prepare Missy for the WGC and would like to express their heartfelt thanks for their patients and understanding. Reserve in the class went to the very fancy pony, Mr. Naples, Abel Vega driving for the Golden Creek Farm. Mr Naples has racked up wins this year at Dixie Cup and Illinois State fair before being crown the 2017 RWGC.
Women’s flat track roller derby, as it is now known, stems from theatrical, violent and entertainment based roots. In its earliest incarnation it was more reminiscent of speed skating than the high intensity sport known seen around the world (English, 2014). However, within ten years of the most recent reincarnation, 450 new leagues had been created. As one of the fastest growing sports for females in America, The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) was created to act as a governing body in order to maintain order and unity in this rapidly growing field (WFTDA, 2014). Like most sports the growth of this leisure sport, brought about a shift in athletic ability. As the complexity of the rules developed and bouts became more competitive,
Tuesday November the 4th marked another Melbourne Cup, promising a day filled with champagne, crowds and colour. 1000s of spectators, staff and jockeys had lined up in the hope of cashing in on some success. Unfortunately this was not the case for the owners of Admire Rakti or Araldo, who tragically died after the race. This sudden and shocking news has re-ignited the issue of whether horse racing should be banned in Australia. Ironically this issue is driven on both sides by the same impulse: the love of the horse. Organisations including the coalition for the protection of racehorses along with animal welfare groups are concerned about the treatment and well-being of the horses. Similarly, horse owners, jockeys and staff’s main focus is the welfare of the horse.

There’s a reason the Melbourne cup is known as ‘the race that stops the nation’ having been around since 1861 and attracting crowds in excess of 100,000 yearly, with the highest number of attendees occurring in 2003 with over 122,000 people gathering to watch Makybe Diva win her first of three consecutive Melbourne cup titles, but the Melbourne cup is not the only historically significant event in Australia with the Melbourne cup carnival total attendances being well over 300,000 people a year for the 4 events. And the horse that wins any of these prestigious events
The 5-year old mare Winx will be looking to add to her growing legend while defending her title as last year's Cox Plate winner. This brilliant equine hero has won 16 of her 22 starts for purses of AUS$7,498,000. Since April of 2015, Winx has won 12 races in a row, including 8 Group 1 events. One doesn't need betting tips to back a horse like
In this manner, I will acknowledge the oppositions argument against the event’s cruelty; my broad understanding of the issue will instil some level of confidence in readers. A contrasting conjunction will be used however, to cut across the positivity that will be created and will hint at the author’s position on the issue; that the Melbourne Cup is cruel. Aiming to appeal to the audience’s sense of empathy, the excruciating training undergone by the ‘two-year-old horses’ will be explained with the consequences listed: ‘torn ligaments and tendons, dislocated joints and even fractured bones’ and ‘excessive stress’. This building up of sympathy prior to the introduction of the arguments will invoke in the audience the want to halt this cruelty already. The commonly recognized phrase ‘the race that stops a nation’ will be used effectively to convey the author’s point of view on the issue, serving as a pun. Intending to create guilt in the readers, the celebration on this day will be shown to cost the lives of the horses. Rhetorical questions will be utilized to belittle the opposition’s arguments, leaning on the side of sarcasm. The use of reputable sources such as the University of Melbourne, the RSPCA and the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses throughout will provide shocking statistics that support arguments, this will evoke moments of agreeance in
Throughout the Old Testament God continually manifests himself to humanity. When He is speaking to the prophets, leaders, or the nation of Israel, He presents opportunities for obedience in the form of covenants. Faithfulness is also needed to secure an association with God. Obedience is probably the most difficult aspect of mankind’s relationship with God. These covenants are the essential promises and pacts between God and humanity. I will present evidence from each of the Four Canons (Pentateuch, History, Poetry /Wisdom, and Prophets) from the Old Testament that our best is only possible by obeying God.
