SUMMARY #1 (pg. 1-45) Although my novel, The Fellowship of the Ring, has just begun, a lot of events have already taken place. The story begins years after the events of the prequel The Hobbit, fifty years since Bilbo Baggins had returned from an adventure with the great wizard Gandalf and Gandalf’s dwarf companions. In Bilbo’s home of the Shire, he announces that he will be inviting many guests to his 111th birthday. (Hobbits live much longer than humans).
