The 1930’s saw a huge fight for power, among European nation states with Germany rising to pre-eminence. As Adolf Hitler took office, he put his plans for his “Thousand Year Reich.” One of these policies came to be known as “The Final Solution” (ushmm). The main focus for the “Final Solution” was the German Jews (ushmm). Leading up to the decision on taking out every Jew that was in Germany. Over the years massive terror, took over for the Jewish Germans, and the other Jews that surround Germany. With the plans for the “Final Solution”, there was a huge amount of side operations going on. One of the operations was the Ghettos. First it started with the Germans invading Poland in 1939 (ushmm). The Germans were wanting more plans to eliminate the Jews, so they made the Ghettos. The first Ghettos were in Generalgovernement attached to German East Prussia (ushmm). In October 1941, Himmler authorized SS General Odilo Globocnik, to plan to murder all the Jews (ushmm). In 1942, they decided to name the project “Operation Reinhard” (ushmm). After this project started other people had other operations going on. Captain Christian Wirth, established three killing centers in German-occupied Poland: Belzec, Sobibor and Treblinka (ushmm). The totals of mass murders were climbing higher and higher. Globocnik and his staff managed the mass murders of about 1,700,000 Jews in the Operation Reinhard Killing Centers (ushmm). After the Ghettos were stopped, they needed a place for the Jews to go. They were moved to labor camps and concentration camp Lubin/Majdanek (Established in 1941) (ushmm). The camps meant bad news for the Jews. Ten thousand Jews were killed, because they were too weak to work (ushmm). With all of this going on, this eliminated a major amount of the
