Barry Sanders was born in Wichita, Kansas, on July 16, 1968. Barry’s favorite sport was basketball when he was just a kid, but his dad steered him toward football. Barry attended Wichita North High School. Sanders was a second string running back up until the last five games of his senior season. His coaches didn’t play him much because of his fear of getting hit. The last five games Sanders started doing amazing things. Sanders rushed for more than 1,000 yards in his last five games. The total was 1,417 yards for the year. That was a citywide record. (Net Industries, 2017)

While Walter Camp, the father of American football we all know and love today was established. Before the 19th century “football” referred to many number of games played on foot. Each one of these games had different rules; same were played solely using your hands and were a running game. Yet others forbid the use of the hands and were kicking games. Many football historians place the games beginning in rugby which began in 1823, due to its many similarities. One of the legends is that football was invented when Englishmen playing rugby grew tired of not being able to use their hands, so they picked up the ball and ran. Then in an endeavor to enforce the rules another player tackled the man who picked up the ball. Although we didn’t aren’t sure if this is true we do know that a variation of English rugby was taking off in Canada which later became Canadian football. The rules of play for soccer have deliberately been kept simple. The referee makes most of the decisions, and attempts to encourage fair play. The game starts off with a kick off, and the teams are allowed to pass, dribble, juggle, head, kick, and shoot the ball to place it down the field, and (hopefully, or eventually) into their opponent’s goal. The rich history of Oklahoma goes back many years. Oklahoma University originally started as Normal Territorial University in 1890. At the time Oklahoma was Indian territory. It was not until 1907 when Oklahoma entered the Union that the University changed its name to Oklahoma University. It is well documented that John A. Harts organized Oklahoma's first football team called the Oklahoma Elevens, a very popular football team name because of the number of the players on the field. Oklahoma played its first game on December 13, 1895 against Oklahoma City High School, losing 34-0 (Fletcher).

On November 6, 1869 the first football game was played between the colleges of Rutgers and Princeton and ever sense that football has been a huge hit for some people. The sport of football is really only popular in the United States and there is two major set of rules for the sport. One of these rules is for football played in college and the other one is for football played professionally. The rules are somewhat similar but there are a couple of changes in them. Football is at its best when it is played at the college level because unlike the NFL, the overtime rules make the game more exciting, the field is bigger on the sides so it has more room to play, and lastly the two-minute timeout does not exist in college football so the game goes faster.

The name was not always the NFL it was the (APFA) American professional football association, later changed to the NFL in 1922. The way group started was with a of men had a meeting in Canton, Ohio where they came up with the teams and the rules for the games. The way that you can score in the NFL is by getting a touchdown which the main point of the game. When a team gets a touchdown it is worth 6 point and then they have a choice to kick a field goal or go for a two point conversion. Most of the time the teams will kick the ball but if they need to get more points they will go for two. There is also a different way that you can score by kicking a field goal but it is not after a touchdown and it is worth three points. There is also a way that you can score by kicking a field goal but not after you score a touchdown this field goal came be kicked. The last way that a team can score is by getting a safety. A safety is when the defense gets a tackle in there end

College football started when two men called Rutgers and Princeton played what was billed as the first college football game on November 6,1869.

What is the evolution of college football? The evolution of college football was about when the first game was played, about the different pieces of equipment, and the different rules of the game. The first game was played between the Rutgers and New Jersey (Princeton). This game was also the first intercollegiate football game as well. In the early 1870’s four representatives from four different universities in the United States met in New York to come up with a way to bring excitement to the game of football as well as making sure the players were safe and had safety procedures while playing. Eventually, the four universities founded the Intercollegiate Football Association (IFA) and allowed 15 players to be on the field at one time versus the old rule of 20 players at a time. The first professional football player in the United States is considered to be William Heffelfinger from Yale University. The founder of football in America is considered by many to be Walter Camp. Walter Camp was the coach of the 1888 Yale Football team, played halfback for Yale, served on The IFA for 48 years, and came up with some of the rules of football still used today like a scrimmage line, 11 players on a field at one time, and the quarterback position. Mr. Camp passed away on March 14, 1925 with a legacy that is remembered to this

The game of football has a history of many rule changes. Rule changes have been brought on to give the excitement of the game of football and to increase the game of safety. Within a decade, concern over the increasing brutality of the game led to its ban by some colleges. Nearly 180 players had suffered serious injuries. At a meeting between the schools, reform was agreed upon, and a second meeting, attended by more than sixty other schools, the group appointed a seven member Rules Committee and set up what would later become known as the National Collegiate Athletic Association. From this committee came the legalization of the forward pass, which resulted in a redesign of the ball and a more open style of play on the field. The length of the teams by the length of the ball before each play begins, was also established. But was that enough? When they made these rules, colleges were the only ones playing. As time goes on, younger generations have become interested in the sport. Football is proven to be too dangerous because of high risk of concussion, false safety gear protection, and long lasting effects.

The Grid Game is a very rough and hard hitting sport. Here are some of the rules in football. The Pigskin Sport is 15 minutes per quarter,and 30 minutes per half. A full game of The Gridiron Pastime usually takes about 60 minutes. After each quarter both teams usually get about 3-5 minutes to rest themselves and get ready for the next quarter. At halftime, each team goes into their locker room, and gets about 15-20 minutes until the 2nd half starts. Each team gets 3 timeouts which they can use on stopping the clock, or they can use it on a challenge. If they win the challenge, they don’t lose the timeout.
