Back in Shakespeare's day theatre was different in many ways but also some parts were the same. How is it different? Well, obviously everything was cheap. Pennies for the pit seats, a few more for the galleries, and then the boxes were the most expensive which were probably not as expensive today. Another thing is, they had posters but they weren't really posters or like programs. They contained no lists of actors, and there were no programs, ushers, or tickets or any of the stuff we have today. The name was announced when you got to the actual play. Their playhouses were not sheltered. They were outside, unlike today how we have a building with a roof over our head for plays. They even had vendors walking around giving out food, like at a stadium!

Theatre is a collaboration of various forms of fine art which utilizes live performances presenting before the audience on a stage at a specific place within a scheduled time (Dugdale 10). The message is communicated through a combination of various channels like songs, speech gestures or dances. Stagecraft skills are combined with elements of art to make the performance more physical and near to real life experience. Theatre is categorized broadly into drama, musical theatre, comedy, tragedy and improvisation. Imagine watching the famous plays of William Shakespeare being performed right in front of yours eyes at the amazing Globe Theater. William Shakespeare was part owner of The Globe Theater. The famous Globe Theater was a place where outstanding plays were performed. This theater held people from all over the world to watch performances. In the article “The Elizabeth Era” states that “often the Queen would come to the Globe Theater to watch Shakespeare’s work “(Alchin). The Globe Theater has great significance to British history because of the building structure, the actors, the performances, the fire accident, and its impact on England and its people.

The Union enjoyed overall success in the Western Theater in 1862, but the year also brought defeat and setbacks between the times of Grant’s River War and the Battle at Stones River during the Civil War. These events contradicted the Unions success with strategic embarrassments that demonstrated the Union’s youth in military strategy in handling two separate theaters and management of men and goods.

The national black theater was founded by was founded in 1968 by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer, an award winning, visionary artist and entrepreneur. She passed away when she was 46 years, July 21, 2008 in Harlem NY. She was a teacher to many young and old actors and actresses. Barbara Ann stared in 3 films during the 1960's to the 1970's and was known for her acting during that time. One of her many goals was to build cultural centers where Africans American can enjoy being free, open and black.

The history of The Globe Theatre comes from a building known as The Theatre. The Theatre, had been built by James Burbage, in Shoreditch (District in the East End of London) in 1576. The Burbage's had a 20-year lease of the land where the theater had been built. When the lease was up, the landlord intended on knocking the theater down. However, with the lease ending, James Burbage built the theatre in Blackfriars as a replacement. Unfortunately the wealthy people of Blackfriars persuaded the government to forbid its use for plays. James Burbage died in 1597. The members of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men had to rent a theater. In 1598, they decided to build a theater of their own. The Burbage’s sons got their fathers inheritance, Cuthbert and Richard, which were connected the Blackfriars, they formed an agreement with Shakespeare and a few other actors, who became partners for the new Globe. Each member had their own share, the two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard, got a bigger share than the others. Each person’s shares became smaller as

The Greeks were known for giving offerings to their gods. They decided to build a theater where they could give their offerings. Although the main thing that they used it for was giving offerings, it was also used for some other things. This paper will be talking about Greek drama genres, why theater was so important, and how they make their voices heard.

The Globe Theater was an octagon shape and had three different stories to it. Levels one and two were for dressing and storage. Level three was upper stage and balcony, resembling the courtyard, or a bridge of a ship. The Globe Theater was built with oak wood and timber, the walls were made with plaster. The stage had a canopy over it that represented “the heavens”, moon, stars, planets, sun, etc. There were two pillars supporting the canopy. The stage did not have a curtain either. There were trap doors, entrances and exits, underneath the stage were represented as “hell”. This theater was located in an area called Bankside.

During this time period, there were not any televisions, cell phones, or computers. Because of this people relied on the theater to keep them entertained. Though officially approved playhouses and acting companies had only been around for about five years The Lord Chamberlain's Men was one of the two acting companies that were permitted to perform in London city limits. Lord Chamberlain's Men used the globe theater, while the other group used the Rose Playhouse which was owned by an impresario and his son-in-law who was a former actor. In 1576 the Blackfriars Theater was built, but Lord Chamberlain's Men could not use it to perform in. This is why the Globe Theater was built in 1598, though they could not finish the original construction because

December of 2009 in snowy New York City, NY at the Apollo theatre. This has been my first competition at the Apollo theatre and I was extremely nervous. I was the youngest jumper to go that year and my group was overwhelmingly underprepared and over excited. All the older kids were proud of us so far based on how we had acted and carried ourselves at such a young age. Especially considering we had driven through a blizzard which prolonged our trip from an eight hour drive to a 17 hour drive from Chapel Hill, NC to New York, NY.

The Globe Theater’s history behind being built was based off the period of life that it was built in. After the plague ended in the 1800s, there was a company of actors known as the Lord Chamberlain’s Men who needed a theatre to perform in. This group is where Shakespeare was first known to be part of. Many theatres were unable to reopen in England after the plague ended. The group performed in the Cross Keys Inn for a little while while looking for a theatre but there were restrictions for performing inside of the city’s limits. Shakespeare was the lead playwright for the group by the time the plans for the Globe came about. This group of actors were not the only actors that were struggling at the time because the Theatre, which was a main place for plays to be performed was closed after the lease for the land had expired and the owner refused to renew the lease. This sent Cuthbert and Richard Burbage, the sons of the original owner of the Theater who had died, into an outrage. The project I did for the Shakespeare project was building The Globe Theater. I decided to do this project because I enjoy building different things with my hands. I worked on this project with a partner. I enjoyed working with a partner rather than alone because I like to have fun while I do projects.

Starting off my group tried to use the list of movement vocabulary. That didn’t work out so instead we decided to focus on what our theme or story would be. Eventually we settled on two topics, unrequited love and love at first sight.
