The first player to find a role in jazz for the guitar was Eddie Lang. He used the Gibson L5. The Gibson L5 guitar was a primary chordal rhythm instrument in jazz music. He played in the early twenties bands. It was led by Bix Beiderbecke, Paul Whiteman, and others. At the beginning of the thirties, Lang began making series of records paired with Bing Crosby. The two created a musical that ended when Lang died in the mid-thirties. During his brief time as a recording artist, Lang proved the viability of the guitar as a jazz instrument.

“Jazz music came to seem not merely an annoyance but a threat,” (“Roaring Twenties”). The 1920’s was when Jazz became a hit: it was being played in roadhouses, dance halls and places all over the country. It’s a very fast paced sound that was different than what people had heard of before. Louis Armstrong was a very well-known jazz musician during this time. One of the most representative artists in music history, talking about Louis Armstrong is to talk about jazz musician who played for presidents and kings and was the delight of millions of music lovers. His unique ability to bring people together with his wonderful music was needed at these times to help break the invisible boundaries. Many other artists also contributed during these times in other works such as poetry, I choose Louis Armstrong because I am a fan of his song, “What a wonderful world”. I do not believe you have to be an artist or poet to truly understand these great works of art. In Langston Hughes's "The Weary Blues," he describes a blues singer who sings a song about how he "Ain’t got nobody in all this world, Ain’t got
The most important jazz musicians are the ones who are successful in creating their own original world of music with its own rules, logic, and surprises. Thelonious Monk, who was criticized by observers who failed to listen to his music on its own terms, suffered through a decade of neglect before he was suddenly acclaimed as a genius; his music had not changed one bit in the interim. In fact, one of the more remarkable aspects of Monk's music was that it was fully formed by 1947 and he saw no need to alter his playing or compositional style in the slightest during the next 25
The creation of jazz at face value is normally credited to the minorities in the United States, mainly the African Americans, but was modified and adapted to be culturally and socially acceptable to the middle and upper classes of white Americans. While the jazz movement was eventually dominated by the middle class white population in the US, the conception of this music form was influenced and inspired by African traditions and the ideals of the Europeans. How did factors such as socioeconomic status, race, and gender contribute to the creation of Jazz? Why was the era of the Roaring Twenties crucial to the development of Jazz as a mainstream art form in America? These are two of the many questions historians and music theorists have brainstormed while studying the creation period and golden age of Jazz in America.
Louis made many contributions to the evolution of jazz as he learned and adapted his style. His use of harmonies and improvisation was before his time and he helped shape the whole genre as it was evolving. His technique with his trumpet playing and how the sound played off of the other instruments was unparalleled at the time. His contributions and techniques play a large part in changing jazz music from a folksy sound to more of the swing sound we attribute to the genre today. Armstrong had amazing timing and rhythm as well as an ear for the music which set him above the rest and propelled him to the top of the jazz music scene. In his songs you can hear how much his trumpet stands out and the level of skill during trumpet solos and how he uses the tone and vibrato of the instrument in order to give the sound we, to this day, associate with him. His technique at the trumpet was revolutionary for the time and Armstrong would help shape what the Jazz movement would become. (Ramsey)
Music such as jazz was commonly used mediums where African American musicians sought fame and fortune. Many influential artists took to the stage in clubs such as the Cotton club. Notorious gangster Owney Madden took over as the owner, where he used the club’s popularity as a platform to sell his alcohol in the face of prohibition. It came to be known as a hub for alcohol, drugs, marijuana, and interracial sex. Despite being a white-only establishment, this Harlem nightclub lent itself to some of the greatest African American performers of all time. It was the first time in history in which white and black people had interacted in a non hostile environment. Jazz became the “in” music of the time. The new genre looked at an instrument as a

The Guitar is a stringed musical instrument with six or twelve strings that is played by either plucking or strumming the strings. It is one of the most popular instruments in the world. If an individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so than they would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll guitarists and do not think about the many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. The guitar is a well-known instrument that influences many musical genres including Country.
Jazz originated from the United States in the early part of the 20th century. From Ragtime and blues to Big Bean and Bebop, jazz has been a part of a proud
There were four instrument used but only 3 people playing them in this event. One person was playing the drums, one was playing the bass, and one was playing both the keyboard and some tech machine. They also had someone running a computer that was projecting a video on a screen that went with the music. There were technically 8 songs but they never ended. It was just nonstop music for about 30-45 minutes. It was kind of hard to tell when a song was somewhat ending and a new one was starting. Some beats and melodies were repeating which was helpful to tell that they were still playing the same song.
