Abraham Marlow established a hierarchy of needs that if met will then help a person to reach their full potential. The hierarchy triangle consists of self-actualisation, self-esteem, love and belonging, safety and security, and physiological needs. This states that a person’s physiological needs must be fully satisfied before they start fulfilling their self-actualisation needs. In practice this means that if we meet children’s individual needs then they are able to have positive development.

2.2. It is important to select a number of teaching and learning approaches as individuals can face a number of barriers causing them difficulty to learn. Maslows (1987) Hierarchy of Needs shows that if all five aspects of this theory are met, which are, self actualisation, self esteem recognition, safety/security and physiological it creates a healthy environment for learners to progress and achieve their goal.

Primary and Secondary Socialisation are personal choices a child or young person will make as they grow older, as they decide on friendship groups, extra curriculum activities, academic involvement and so on. Professionals working with children and young people may need support and guidance to make the choices which are right for them.

But, if this level of arousal can become too excessive, the athlete may lower the performance level such as missing the last shot as time runs out. With behavior, the arousal reaction may stabilize the level of energy to complete specific tasks. Arousal can affect many aspects of human behavior with reactions like attention, anxiety, stress, agitation, and motivation. Since humans vary, behavior relates to the capacity of arousal each human can deal with effectively.

Psychologist Abraham H. Maslow is the developer of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. The theory covers human behavior in terms of basic requirements for survival and growth (Cengage, 2002). It enables teachers to reach and engage their students at the highest level of learning with effective learning strategies. Learning educational psychology through the study of cognitive development and the influences on children and adolescents as they grow, the implication of moral and identity development, as well as obligations teachers have professionally to create safe learning environments that promote high expectations and inclusion of all learners, helps teachers to nurture and understand their students.
