It is my sincere hope that every student should look forward to coming into the classroom ready for new adventures and a whole new world of information every day. Education continually brings us new adventures just waiting for us to experience its wonder and possibilities. I believe that students, when presented with a wide variety of interesting lessons, can become interested and motivated in a way that they never have before.

My philosophy of education would include a classroom that supports creativity and gives students an opportunity to explore the world in the confines of four walls. Knowledge results from countless experiences and interactions throughout an individual’s lifetime. I believe the purpose of education is to allow students to discover who they are through exploring who has come before them, and what is possible for them in the future. Formal education should provide students with more than a foundation in basic disciplines. An educational philosophy is a personal statement of a teacher’s goals or belief. A teacher comes to the classroom with a distinctive set of principles and ideals that affect how a student learns and expand the child’s potential in his or her venture into knowledge. I believe that education should be active, and focus on the whole child, rather than just the content or the teacher. All children are entitled to a free education regardless of race, cultural background or handicaps. For education to be an effective part of the students life, the student and teacher must be actively and enthusiastically involved in learning. A teacher needs to be well prepared and organized. They need to know the perspective goals for each student and ways to achieve these goals. Teachers need to work with students to help them grow and develop ways to use their knowledge.

I believe that a teacher’s philosophy of education is a crucial role in his or her approach to leading students on their educated path. A philosophy of education is the set of beliefs that every school and every teacher stand behind. The certain philosophy that one chooses provides the answers to many vital questions, such as the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s role, and what should be taught in the classroom.

I hope to instill in my students that education is a lifelong learning process, and that education empowers and provides life-altering opportunities. I believe all children are born with an overwhelming desire to learn and this desire must be nurtured and encouraged with love, enthusiasm, and discipline.

Education is defined as the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university (Education, n.d.). My philosophy of education is inspired by my mother’s experience as an educator. My mother used to give attention to each student and treated each student with love and care. Students used to share their personal and professional problems with her because she used to understand her students. Students used to love my mother’s method of teaching, and my mother respected every student and peers, because she believes that to be respected by everyone, you must give them respect too.

The two quotes that I have listed above can in essence describe my feelings on education and teaching. My philosophy of education is almost wholly derived from my own experiences as a student and my observation from the placements. I believe that being a teacher is much more than just planning and executing lesson plans, but to encourage students to become more conscious of, and interested in learning, “transferring their learning” to more challenging and higher order thinking contexts. Having master of the subject content is a basic job of a teacher, to be a skilled practitioner of what I teacher is the main education philosophy. I want to focus on students’ cognitive development and teach them sufficient skills that prepare them for entering into the society. Apart from that, I think that a good teacher cares about the students’ happiness, well-being and life beyond the classroom. The most important development that has influenced my values of teaching was contact with my EAL teacher in high school who guided me in the direction of stopping abuses and bully. She mentored me throughout my three years of high school in Australia and helped me realise what kind of person I truly wanted to be.
