PLOT
‘THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY’ takes place several months since the last outing, Catching Fire. Seventeen year old Katniss Everdeen has survived The Hunger Games twice, but along with her outstanding victory, which bewildered The Capitol’s devious Gamemakers. There were consequences.
The infuriated president of Panem, President Snow, didn’t see actions taking place in order to eliminate Katniss, which was his bidding. Therefore, he plans to get his revenge by spreading chaos across Panem, until Katniss’ world has been reduced to rubble. So, in an act of fighting back, Katniss must become Panem’s Mockingjay, the symbol of rebellion against the Capitol, no matter what the personal cost.
CHARACTERS
Katniss Everdeen- A girl who never wanted a life in the Games, she only stepped up to save her sister, Prim, as well as keep her mother alive.
Gale Hawthorne- Another tribute from the Games, he was also a companion to Katniss whenever she went in the woods to hunt, that was before the Games. In this book, he is second-in-command to Katniss during the battle to dissolve the Capitol.
Peeta Mellark- He is Katniss’ personal love interest. Before the Games begun, he had a job being a pastry maker in District 12, Katniss’ hometown, at the end of Catching Fire, he was captured and secured by the Capitol. He plays a huge role in this story, being held hostage by President Snow, as well as being brainwashed and turned against
The boy tribute that is from her district is Peeta Mellark who she knew from long ago. Peeta confessed to the public that he loves her and that begins their friendship. Throughout the games, she watches as tributes are killed and a young girl named Rue is murdered. When this happens, Katniss kills Rue’s attacker. This is the first time that she has ever killed a person, so she takes it very hard. Rue was not only Katniss’s ally but her friend, she was Prim’s age and reminded her of her sister. So, when Rue was killed it struck Katniss deeply. By the end of the games she has come to love Peeta back and it comes down to the two of them. They refuse to kill each other, so they decided to eat berries that are poisonous but the capitol has to have a victor, so the capitol announces that they are both victors. When she did this, it was a direct punch to the capitol and it ignited a spark in the people, that began the process of a revolution. After she returns home, she realizes what her actions caused and that is the real reason that she went there. She was destined to be the Mockingjay, or the leader of the revolution against the capitol. She realizes that she is the only way that the people will unite and fight to
Katniss is the protagonist of the novel. She is a tough, self-sufficient, extremely loyal girl whose childhood was cut short by responsibility. After her father died, her mother sank into a deep depression, so it was up to Katniss to feed the family. One evening, she was going through others' trash in desperation when Peeta Mellark purposefully burned bread from his family's bakery and gave it to her. She feels like she owes him for that action, because after that she realizes the forest will be how to feed her family. She and her friend Gale regularly hunt wild game and gather food, selling some and keeping some for their families. Katniss dearly loves her younger sister Prim, so much so that she volunteers to go to the Hunger Games in Prim's place. Though Katniss could very easily feel bitter towards her more sheltered sister, instead she is fiercely protective of her. During the Games, this protectiveness transfers to another young tribute named Rue who Katniss grows very close too and mentors as she were an older sister to Rue.
In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose. The main characters in the story are Katniss, Peeta, Haymitch, President Snow, Gale, Katniss's mom and sister. Katniss is the girl who was volunteered to take her sisters place in the Hunger Games 12 months ago and. Peeta is the guy who was reaped to participate in the Hunger Games with Her. Haymitch is a crazy, drunk guy, who was chosen to be there supervisor and mentor for the Games. President Snow is the President of all the Districts and takes a big part in hosting the Games. Gale works in the mines and used to go hunting with Katniss on a regular basis. Katniss's mom and sister are the ones that live with her and take care of her, even when she returns from the
Through the events of the book , Katniss steps up to fulfill the role of the Mockingjay , the ultimate symbol of rebellion . Following Gale's whipping , Katniss rationalizes that both of them have always been rebellious .' Poaching, trading on the black market, mocking the Capitol in the woods"(130) are but few examples of Katniss rebellious actions even before setting foot in the arena . This rebelliousness continues to be a character trait , publicly exhibited in the arena as she threatens to commit suicide along with Peeta to deprive the Capitol from its victors . Prim Rose Everdeen has been chosen as the girl tribute for district 12. Her older sister Katniss volunteers in her place because of how much she cares about her . Katniss Everdeen is Prim’s sister and also the main character in the book “The Hunger Games.”, by Suszanne Collins. This an action packed distopian book that show what the world could be like in the upcoming years if we don’t fix our culture. I believe that Katniss is a brave and courageous person and that love for someone can overcome anything.
Katniss Everdeen lives a life that is based on her ability to survive long before she becomes a participant in the Hunger Games. The death of Katniss’s father left Katniss to provide for her mother and her sister, Prim.
The truth of this statement is exemplified throughout the entire series of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The narrator and main character is rebel leader Katniss Everdeen, who finds herself in the middle of two men who both mean a lot to her: Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne.
“We had to save you because you're the Mockingjay, Katniss, says Plutarch. While you live, the revolution lives” (Collins). Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games is a complex character who epitomizes the archetype of a hero, however, she also shatters the mold by rebelling against the capital and endangering her whole family. She starts out as a hero to her family, especially her sister, and then becomes the symbol of strength to everyone. Katniss sacrifices herself by volunteering to join the Hunger Games in place of her sister, it is a game of survival where a boy and a girl from each district are forced to fight the other members of other districts to the death. By going out of her ordinary world and preparing to join a game where her life could be taken, she fits right into the archetype of a hero. Her bow and arrow, the weapon that only she can wield, will be the only things to help her survive. Despite these heroic qualities, Katniss makes an erroneous decision and blunder mistakes that shows the reader the flip side of Katniss.
Her family, Gale, Madge (Mayor’s daughter) and she were given a mocking-jay pin from Prim and a packet of cookies by Peeta’s father visits Katniss in the Justice Building.
The book is about Katniss, a sixteen year old girl, who lives in district 12 with her mother and her sister, Prim. Each year, the Hunger Games are held, and a boy and a girl from each district are chosen to fight to the death. Prim is chosen but Katniss volunteers to take the place of her in the game. Peeta is chosen as the boy from District 12. The majority of the book takes place in the Arena designed by the Gamemakers. The only way she could do it is by going out in the woods and hunt, which is against the law. Her father had taken her out and taught her how to hunt and some tricks. soon Katniss bumped along Gale Hawthorne and became a team after a while. Katniss and gale shared their knowledge amongst each other. And equally shared their earnings amongst each other.
In the Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen is the narrator she went into the Hunger Games because she did not want her sister to die. Katniss is very brave for a girl, she is 16. Her personality is very caring, unique, and strong. Her appearance in the story appears shocking for the young men, there names are Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne. She has a very close relationship with her friends in the district 12 area.

Katniss Everdeen was the girl tribute from district 12, and they boy tribute was Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Katniss sort of knew Peeta before the games, but she wasn’t exactly sure because she could never really pen point where she meet him. Come to find out Peeta basically saved her from starvation because he gave her bread from his bakery, after he burnt it on purpose. Once Peeta and Katniss reached the Capitol and came out to show all the people of the Capitol who they were, they were the ones to watch out for. Katniss was known as the girl on fire, and then Peeta surprised everyone when he told the people of the Capitol that he was in love with Katniss; which then labeled both of them as the star crossed lovers of district 12.
