The impact of computer technology in the workplace has been enormous within the past decade, both positive and negative. The workplace has changed significantly over the last half-century due to CIS. CIS has an effect over the business world, impacting how companies develop and market their products, in conjunction with how people communicate and accomplish their jobs more efficiently and successfully. The CIS field has grown drastically over the years. The employment in CIS is projected to grow 22 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to The Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2020 there should be over 664,800 jobs open in the IS and CIS field (Thibodeau). Computer information systems has revolutionized business by increasing a companies’ functionality, improving data collection and lastly by ‘flattening’ the world.

ICT or Information Communication Technology is an extension of the commonly known term of Information Technology (IT), but ICT focuses mainly on the Communications side of things. It is the merger of all the computer systems in an organisation. This is done by enterprise systems which work by the integration of different components such as data bases and workstations, which work collectively to carry out the input, processing, output and storage. In turn the data is converted and is then presented as information which can be used to support forecasting, planning, control, coordination and decision making in departments such as Marketing, Accounting and Human Resources. It changed everything not only by its definition but also by sheer integration into the lives of people. One of the major reasons that information technology is integrated into every business now is that it made life of every human being easy. It gave them daily comforts: both in personal and professional life. Among the many aspects of information technology, one aspects that is giving competitive advantage to businesses and products is information. Because of information technology and business application it creates, businesses are able to generate mammoth of data and trying to infer the behavior of consumer to create products that will cater to the need of the consumers. According to Michael E. Porter (ME. Porter and Victor E. Millar, 1985), the information technology has done 3 things with respect to the information: first, it changed every industry structure and how the businesses compete with each other. Second, it gave platform build with information to the business to create competitive advantage in their product and services. And lastly, new gathered information gave rise to new business and industry, which gave push to increase the economy of every country.

The case I am going to use was at the beginning of my working career. I had just started a new job at a wine bar, let’s call it Italiano’s. At this wine bar I was given the job of busser and bar back, about as low as you could get at the restaurant besides dishwasher. When I started this job I was a senior high school, which compared to my co-workers, was very young. Most of my co-workers were in their late twenties and thirties. Due to this age gap, I felt very immature and underpowered in the workplace. I felt like I had to follow everybody’s command because it was my first job and felt like I needed to be the perfect worker. There are two issues in this case that put pressure on me to act unethically or not speak up.

ICT usability of resources increases in the early 1960s, but it was not until the 1980s that the first commercial products emerged and defined as target computers or generations of grid computers. They all are intend to use maximum disposable resources, to reduse this those computers are unused. And the final goal is to invent a computer which is much more efficient with strong performance, and to be more precise, with having a separate level of software, which is supposed to divide the tasks into several parts and locate them into several computers. It ususally concernes in a large number of computers which are in different organisations connected into as virtual organisations. The advantage of this type of organisations are recognised in improving efficiency by truly small alterations.
