The Importance Of A Nurse 's Environment

Compassion, commitment, courage; three words that I would associate with the role of being a nurse. By going into nursing I believe that I will be able to make a difference, even changing one life for the better is far more rewarding than anything I could ever imagine. I have always admired the role nurses play in the lives of so many, not only patients, but also the families of those in their care. I believe that it is essential for a nurse to be able to listen and communicate with not only their patients but also those around them.

My perspective within those fields was one primarily focused on monetary gain, yet there was always a factor missing from within. Being dissatisfied every day in my career always loomed over my head no matter what the financial gain was. I felt as if I needed something to reignite my career and to find passion within the workforce; it came in the form of a motorcycle accident. From the point of being picked up in an ambulance to the fourth floor of the hospital I observed and this is where my definition of nursing came from. Nursing was a call light. A beacon of help for those in need as we could not do for ourselves as we once did

Caring for others has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a nurse has always been my dream. While my dream has turned reality, I can say that nursing has blessed me with the opportunity to not only be a servant to those in my community, but it has also allowed me to be of some comfort to patients and their loved ones during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities, where the only restrictions are the ones we set for ourselves. The tasks of a nurse fascinates me; I have had several opportunities to observe nurses in hospitals and I find their work intriguing. I have always been interested in the health field and performing the jobs of a medical professional. Ever since the age of twelve, I have known I wanted to attend a university and pursue a career in the health field.
