What do you think of when you hear the word "Nurse"? I think of strength, endurance, intelligence and honestly, money. Money is a big part of my life because I want my family and I to live very comfortably. Nursing appeals to some just because of the money factor, while money is big deal for me, I have other desires as well. Nursing would be ideal because of the kind of the environment I 'd be in, the people I 'd work with, and, again the money. Many people don’t know much about the environment nursing takes place in and how much it really matters.
Environment is really big for me in my work place. Hospitals are usually nice and tidy. I like that hospitals are this way because it just makes me feel better working in a clean environment. I can 't imagine people who would want to work in an environment that’s scummy, dirty and just all around not good for your health. A nurse 's environment, however, is pristine. Very clean and no harm done to your health because guess what? Nurses are all about making their patients feel better. Who would 've guessed? The cleaner the environment I work in, the better because you know what they say. Cleanliness is next to godliness. And I love the sterile smell a hospital emits. Also, a great factor in a nurses environment is how busy they are. I love being busy, And I, personally, would love, dashing down the halls of the freshly waxed floors of the hospital and popping into Room 307 to see how Gladys is doing. Checking into Room 345 to see
Compassion, commitment, courage; three words that I would associate with the role of being a nurse. By going into nursing I believe that I will be able to make a difference, even changing one life for the better is far more rewarding than anything I could ever imagine. I have always admired the role nurses play in the lives of so many, not only patients, but also the families of those in their care. I believe that it is essential for a nurse to be able to listen and communicate with not only their patients but also those around them.
My perspective within those fields was one primarily focused on monetary gain, yet there was always a factor missing from within. Being dissatisfied every day in my career always loomed over my head no matter what the financial gain was. I felt as if I needed something to reignite my career and to find passion within the workforce; it came in the form of a motorcycle accident. From the point of being picked up in an ambulance to the fourth floor of the hospital I observed and this is where my definition of nursing came from. Nursing was a call light. A beacon of help for those in need as we could not do for ourselves as we once did
Caring for others has always been a passion of mine, and becoming a nurse has always been my dream. While my dream has turned reality, I can say that nursing has blessed me with the opportunity to not only be a servant to those in my community, but it has also allowed me to be of some comfort to patients and their loved ones during their darkest and most vulnerable moments. Nursing offers a variety of opportunities, where the only restrictions are the ones we set for ourselves. As for myself, all things are possible, for if I want it, I strongly believe it’s already mine. The depths that I will go to reach the latitude of success that I so desire is boundless.
Nursing is a noble profession that will help me expand my horizon by letting me focus outside of myself and my self-interest. By focusing outside of myself, I will get to be an advocate for people’s health and a humanitarian who will have a chance to see the other aspect of medical
The tasks of a nurse fascinates me; I have had several opportunities to observe nurses in hospitals and I find their work intriguing. I have always been interested in the health field and performing the jobs of a medical professional. Ever since the age of twelve, I have known I wanted to attend a university and pursue a career in the health field. I have always had an interest in my science courses, specifically biology and chemistry and have excelled in these areas. I want to be able to receive the best education possible and make my parents and community proud. I wish to do more for my community than just being a typical nurse and I will be able to do more by becoming a nurse practitioner.
I choose nursing as my future career because I enjoy working with others, helping others feel better, and educating people. These three topics are all involved in what nursing is. I believe that nursing is focused on the holistic care of individuals and their families in order to achieve and maintain an optimal level of health, a great quality of life, and comfort. This is done through the promoting healthy living, providing a safe environment, preventing illness, and the caring for the individual and the family.
Nursing is an excellent career choice, where an individual acquires great gratitude while attending to others necessities. If someone is constantly trying to improve themselves and wanting to be challenged in life, “as nurses, we face tremendous challenges and often see and do things that are extraordinary” (Ulrich xix). By becoming a registered nurse the individual will make a difference. Nursing allows an individual to continuously be benefiting a fellow human being, not only with the patient but with their families as well, having the opportunity to becoming someone especial in the patient’s life. Nursing is a
Nursing has always been a natural choice for me. From the time I was a little girl I received satisfaction and enjoyment from providing care for my great-grandmother, ensuring my elderly neighbor wasn’t lonely, various forms of problem solving and all things science related. Compassion, care and critical thinking are merely
Nursing had never been in my passion when I was younger because the image of a nurse in a white uniform holding a tray full of loaded syringes, frightened me. To me the nurses were ruthless individuals who made the children cry with injections. However a nice, gentle, and sympathetic nurse who took care of me when I was hospitalized with a foot fracture, changed my opinions about the nurses. I realized that nursing is a profession which provides care for the ailing and needy people. My qualities that are with me right up until today were instilled by my Indian origin and Christian faith. These qualities add to my perspective and philosophy of nursing. My passion for
Foremost, I am drawn to nursing from experiencing the lack of quality healthcare available throughout society, often to the people who need it the most. Growing up in rural China, I have witnessed the negative effects of a faulty healthcare system on children, adults, and even a whole community. I find it appalling that people are suffering and dying from preventable diseases, due to a lack of access to medical facilities, or when individuals are unable to seek adequate health care because of
I believe environment in nursing is having an atmosphere where everyone can function appropriately. When I say that, I am referring to being in a place where co-workers are able to ask questions and we are able to lean on one another. An environment where patients feel comfortable asking the doctors’ questions or even asking the nurses questions without feeling inadequate. The environment of the hospital helps play a huge role in patient care because if we work in a stressed place we then in turn display that in our care.
Nursing is a profession that provides quality and culturally sensitive care to help a patient achieve the highest quality of life possible. A nurse utilizes skills (technical, cognitive, and interpersonal) that promote all aspects of health. There are many components to nursing. “The primary objectives of the nurse as caregiver are to promote health, to prevent illness, to restore health, and to facilitate coping with illness, disability, or death” (Taylor, Lillis, & Lynn, 2015, p. 43). A nurse recognizes the worth of all people and understands the importance of doing what is best for the patient. A competent nurse builds a relationship with the patient that is the perfect balance between professionalism and treating the patient like family. Nursing installs hope in a patient while at the same time being realistic about a patient’s condition. Another aspect of nursing includes empowering a patient to feel confident and comfortable in making
In today’s society, the medical field is constantly thriving with technological improvements and the growth of educated individuals that contribute to the well-being of others. Nurses make up the largest majority of the industry, and with that, nursing is the fastest growing occupation. Nursing is a job that allows people to not only take care of the sick but also to experience, learn, and further their interests of the human body.
There are certain characteristics that are very important of being a nurse. Becoming a nurse means to take value of the craft and work. A nurse should see this, as a “calling” and not a typical job that people usually do not value. The choice of becoming a nurse should not be based upon on the income or security, but the purpose that it comes with of becoming a nurse. The purpose of becoming a nurse is to value all human life, and provide accountability, professionalism and compassion to a patient. Part of
I chose to be a nurse because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a great profession; it allows people to influence and touch lives. I am willing to obtain this significant responsibility. I am keen to be there for the patients through illness, injury pain, loss, grieving, birth, growth, aging, and health. I consider myself as determined and vigorous. I have the desire and determination to accomplish my goal of being a nurse. I am also thoughtful, caring, and open. I believe that my desire and traits would reflect on me being a nurse and would make me successful one.
