Animals have played an important role alongside humans for a long time, whether it be as our cuddling companions, humble servants, or amusing entertainers; however, the fellow fauna inhabitants of earth have had a more crucial hand in the advancement of humanity then one might think. About every medical advancement in the past one hundred years came about by animal testing (“Forty Reasons”). People are very dependent upon the research and the experiments done on animals netherless some want to ban testing on animals. Animals should be used in scientific research because the research saves lives, the researchers care for the animals, and the research is properly regulated.
What about the poor animals? Normal people do not want to deliberately hurt animals on a regular basis and neither do those studying the creatures. The poor care of animals in experiments would result in “unreliable research data”(“Animal Testing”). If researchers caused animals stress and place them in unsuitable habitats, then this would skew the results of their experiment. Scientists want to eliminate variables in experiments, consequently fickle data because inadequate control of the environment, would be counterproductive. This is why scientists take good care of their test subjects and do not cause unnecessary suffering. Additionally, 95% of experiments are done on mice and rats bred for research. Experiments are not done using stray animals or pets because scientists need to be able to control
