Every day we get the opportunity to wake up and determine how our day is going to go. Are we going to have a good attitude? Are we going to make healthy choices? Are we going to live a healthy and active lifestyle? Are we going to live a life full of faith? These are all questions we must answer every day when we wake up. Living a healthy lifestyle goes way beyond just the obvious health benefits from being active; it is also necessary for our spiritual health as well. God put us on this earth to serve him when called upon. It is our responsibility to make sure that we are ready to serve when we are called upon. We can make sure we are ready to serve God by making sure our body is physically capable of serving for him. Colossians 3:22-23 says, “whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." This verse sets the foundation for why we should be physically active; not necessarily should we be active for ourselves, but rather be active for God, so we are ready when we are called upon. As true Christians, we need to be willing to sacrifice our bodies for God. Romans 12:1 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” The key word in that verse is acceptable. God put us on this earth to be his disciples, but in order
Sacrifice is one of the roots in life. To have one thing, another has to be sacrificed. Just like with life, in order for one to live, another has to have a consequence. In Barbara Kingsolver’s novel, The Poisonwood Bible, Ruth May is the sacrificed soul to “save” the Price family. Because of her death, Orleanna was able to finally snap out of her Nathan ruled trance.
Several verses that apply to physical health are: 1 Corinthians 1:6-20 which says, “For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 that says, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” And Proverbs 31:27 which says, “She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” I think if we look at just these three days, then my eating habits dishonor God. I’m not taking care of my body, so therefore I’m not glorifying God, and I’m hurting my body instead of making it stronger. How can I glorify God if I’m hurting His temple, and almost saying I can eat whatever I want it doesn’t matter what God has to say about it. But I also think if we look at my eating habits as a whole, they are not dishonoring God but they are not honoring Him either. With my diet as a whole I eat enough vitamins and
We need to be perfect like Jesus was. Paul entreats his fellowmen to their high calling of presenting their “bodies a living sacrifices, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”.(verse 1) Here Paul sets forth a way that the church in Rome and not only for them but for our time aswell has a reasonable service that is acceptable to God by presenting our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable for this is our duty and to why created for to shew forth the praises of Him who has created us and given His life to redeem us back.
As Christians, we are called to honor God with our stewardship of our own bodies by donating our time, our bodies, and our money. In order to maximize our personal health and keep our bodies healthy in order to glorify God, we need to make smart decisions when buying exercise equipment or applying for different health club memberships. One important question we need to ask ourselves as Christians is can we stay fit for Kingdom use? Just as Romans 12 states: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal,” as instead of refusing to exercise or make yourself better based on other’s actions, we should exercise and eat right in order to renew or bodies, and become transformed so that we can glorify God. However, dieting and
Carbohydrate is a nutrient essential for energy production and the prevention of ketosis, a state where the production of ketones exceeds metabolism. Protein is a nutrient essential for its components, amino acids. Fat is a nutrient which provides insulation, protection and energy for the body.
Today's people are not moving enough because technology becomes more common in the world which helps to live easier. We burn off calories less than the past. Moreover, the more we are busy, the less we burn off calories. It means that we are just tired, so we should understand the importance of our health by doing
There are many benefits to living a healthy lifestyle, and there are many aspects that lead into it. Three important aspects that are most beneficial to a healthy life include sleep, diet and nutrition, and exercise. To live a healthy life starts at a young age. Living a healthy lifestyle when young is beneficial for adult life.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
In order to become we must worship. Without fail we always become like the one we worship. There are a million things to get out of Romans 12, but I always find myself glued to the part about worship. Romans 12:1 says, to offer your body as a living sacrifice and that is your true and proper form of worship. Romans 12:1 offers a bigger challenge in how to worship. I found that challenge to be giving myself up as a living sacrifice so that I may be pleasing to the lord. As I continued to reflect on this scripture I found three things about worship; there must be no hesitation in worship, worship must be sincere, and there is always a sacrifice in worship.
Instructor Palmer, the scripture that you mentioned I think it pertains to our physical wellness also. The scripture reminds me pertaining to my physical wellness to attempt to do better with my health like eating healthier food and exercise. And to not worry if I have the time or strength to exercise this scripture is so helpful in so many aspects of my life. It reminds me to just to take things one day at a
Exercise and eating healthy are two of the most important things you need to do to take care of your body properly. Both exercise, and eating healthy, have many advantages and benefits. They help with multiple things needed throughout your life. These things include growing physically, mentally, and if you are religious, spiritually as well. All of this adds up to your body functioning in the highest and best way possible.
I also like the fact that the verse says “body” and not just heart. Presenting my body as a sacrifice means that I should use my feet, my arms, my mouth, my whole body. It is one thing to love God, to want His will for my life, and to serve God only in my heart. It is another, very important thing, to extend this to the rest of my life. I believe it is very important to go out and glorify God, to open my mouth and praise Him, and to reach out to tell other people about Him. These things involve my whole body- my heart, my feet, my arms, my mouth- and I, personally, want to present my whole body as a living sacrifice.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is indeed a meaningful duty we owe ourselves. ‘If you do not have good health, you do not have wealth’. Healthy lifestyle means upholding a balanced and nutritious diet as well as involves in fitness activities. A healthy diet alone however isn’t sufficient to produce a healthy body as physical activity helps to keep one in shape and free of sickness and disease.
Eating healthy is imperative for your life. A healthy diet is the key to being fit. It is unlike any other regimen. You will feel so pure, balanced, and alert. A solid regimen even prevents some health issues. You will love your body and your body will love you if you begin healthy eating habits. There are significant reasons why eating healthy is vital to your health.
Physical Activity is undeniably good for everyone, not only does it keep you fit and healthy but when started at a young age, it can set up good habits for life. Sometimes however, people do not take care of their physical wellbeing, resulting in obesity and other eating disorders which can be detrimental to their health.
