How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or court? College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they bring in for their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time to get a job because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College athletes have much more responsibilities to worry about than pros, and scholarships don 't help athletes that much and they often don’t even finish college. The problem is college athletes don 't get paid when they have twice the responsibilities of pro athletes. college athletes have to juggle their sport practices and games, being on the road a lot of the time, going to classes everyday, and going to work so they can have money to eat. The solution would be to take out of all the money college athletes make from games, and memorabilia. NCAA is a billion dollar organization and they don 't pay the very people who make them the
When providing a service, people get paid for the service, so why are college athletes not paid for performing a service with their athletic abilities? Almost anyone who is involved with sports, whether it be watching them or playing them, has an opinion on whether or not college athletes should be paid. My opinion on this controversy is that college athletes should be paid. College sports make billions of dollars, so there is definitely room for athletes to payed in some way. There are three main reasons as to why I believe college athletes should be paid. One is the athletes do not have enough time to hold a steady job because they are constantly practicing or playing the sport they are involved in. If they can work there are rules as to what they can make. The second reason is the colleges the athletes play for and the NCAA both make money off all of the athletes’ names and the coaches of the athletes are paid very well. The last reason is the scholarships of some athletes can be taken away if they do not meet the performance standards of the college they play for.
After all, these athletes are attending their respected school on a scholarship because of their talent, but what happens when that talent can no longer be used? What happens when an athlete is no longer able to share their talent due to an injury or other medical condition? In such circumstances where an athlete is no longer able to play due to a career ending injury, the individual loses their scholarship. Now, not only will the individual have to pay for a surgery, but also the rest of their tuition. According to an article in The New Yorker “Why NCAA athletes shouldn’t be paid” written by Ekow N. Yankah,"The athletes in major football and men’s basketball programs are disproportionately black, many from poor and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds”

As of right now, these athletes are not getting paid, but many of them truly believe that they should. With that being said, there are two sides of this topic that have quality points.
To start off, let’s talk about why college athletes shouldn’t get paid. Let’s start off by saying that only professionals in any field show be paid. It doesn’t matter if you’re a football player, a teacher, a coach anything, you should not get paid until you are officially a professional. It takes years to become a professional in any field.
Money is a big part of the issue when it comes to paying athletes in college. If schools were allowed to pay athletes for playing at their school, then you would be signing the death certificated of those schools that do not generate as much money as the larger schools. Smaller schools would not be able to compete with larger schools simply because they could never make the same big time offers as the larger schools. All of the best players would go to the same schools because they all want the most money, but who could blame them? If you had to choose between a larger salary and a smaller one, chances are that you would choose the larger salary. Large schools can offer much more money than the smaller schools can and for that reason, small schools athletic departments would never be able to compete.
One reason why student athletes should get paid is because of the unfair financial gains that universities are making at the expense of the athletes. College sports now is a billion dollar industry, with universities making hundreds of millions of dollars every year from

College athletes should be paid because they generate profit for their school and they are the ones who put forth the hard work and effort. College athletes should be paid because they make so much money for not only their school, but also companies and programs.

According to NCAA rules, “You are not eligible for participation in a sport if you have ever taken money from anyone, or someone promised to pay you, for competing in that sport” (NCAA Regulations 1). Pro athletes get paid because they are professional athletes. Playing is their job. Professional sports have many money problems. For example they go on strike because of money. If college players were to get paid wouldn't the athletes do things like go on strike? Athletes would want more money than they are receiving and they would be many of these types of problems. In other words they would be very greedy.

In most cases, they spend more time training and preparing for their sport than they actually do learning and studying. They put so much on the line to play and they get nothing in return. These college athletes literally make their schools millions of dollars every
Student athletes should also get paid because they work very hard to get where they are and to play a sport that they love. 69 percent of the public is against paying college athletes. Those of the 69 percent; 61 percent of them are considered to be “big” sports fans. Paying athletes would do more harm than good. The main topics that I thought would be the biggest alarms to others are that division one college football players should not get paid, the effect it will have on the college and university; the con would be that division one college athletes should be paid.
